there will not be any other drive this entire NFL season by any other team more impressive than this drive

For this offensive line to do that was such a statement. 6th round sophomore, 10-year vet, and third game rookie on the interior? We don’t care, we’ll still shove it down your throat.

I could see them setting up the St Brown catch which I was under the impression only Ben Johnson did. I noticed on multiple runs they had St Brown motion in as a blocker. On that 4th down play, he motioned in, but then broke out into his route. The defender bit on the run and had to grab him.

I noticed that as well. I think a lot more of this stuff happens that the average fans doesn't really pick up on. I only noticed this because it happened like three or fours times in short order before the 4th down play.

Always fun reading the meltdowns in these game threads after the Lions have great wins

Some of it can be explained as emotions in the moment. I don't usually post much during the game, but I'm certainly shouted stuff at my TV as I'm sure we all have. I've always hijacked the Las Vegas catchphrase: "What's said during the game stays as 'during the game.'"

That said, it is possible to go a little too far in a gameday thread.

and zero sacks allowed.

Granted the Ravens were down a pro-bowler on the Dline, but still pretty impressive.

Game ball goes out to the site's server too. It was a rough week in practice with some lag times and crashes, but it showed up when it mattered most on Monday night.

And a new server will be operational soon (this week?) with additional memory, so hopefully the quirks in the past two months will be a thing of the past.  Hope the Tigers stick around long enough to see some benefit!

Stating the obvious, thanks for everything you do with this site. It definitely adds to the post-game experience after a big Tigers win or Lions win to come online and read thoughts shared.

Exactly.

I’m asking for accountability. When I see the Lions commit a penalty I want it called. Period. I want the same for them.

So why call the hands to the face/dacemask there? If they are going to selectively enforce the rules then there really should be a reasonable explanation of what they will and won’t call. For example that penalty had no impact of the play. The hold on Anzalone earlier in the game helped Lamar extend the play without pressure and complete a long 3rd down pass, keeping the drive alive and eventually score.

What I want to know is why the defender directly in front of the referee whose job it is to watch for that hold decided not to call a hold that turned the player sideways. That’s all. Why call one penalty to kill a drive and ignore another?

I’ll die on the hill of every, “not completing the catch” ruling after Calvin Johnson was robbed in Chicago. They set the precedent and I just wanted every catch after to be officiated the same way. Once you accepted the rule it wasn’t difficult to see. Dez did not complete the process no matter how many Cowboys fans scream. That was the rule. Period.

Missed calls have been happening, in all of sports, for years. Every sport. The thing that really, really bothers me is the possibility of cheating being done because of the "legal" gambling. Every time a call is missed, or a questionable call is made, it makes me wonder, in the back of my mind, whether there's cheating going on.

Honestly I think it wasn't that much of a snub or anything... The Lions played horrible against the Pack. They beat up the Bears, but... it was the Bears. Then the Ravens are a great team with SB aspirations as well and it was a road game for the Lions. I can't find too much fault in the talking heads picking the Ravens.

Going into this week, I saw the possibility of the Lions being 2 games behind the Packers. A loss to Baltimore with the Packers beating Cleveland. But the exact opposite happened. I'm as happy as a pig in....well, very happy. 😆

I really try to stay positive about the Lions. Too much negativity ruins the game for me. Stress the positive and try to look at the bright side of things. The Ravens take a 7 point lead in the 2nd half? Great, now it's our turn with the ball.

My thing is to do my utmost to leave the emotions in the game itself... especially when they lose. I have a distinct memory a handful of years ago, after yet another Lions loss, of thinking: "Wait, if the Lions had won... would I be super giddy excited and feel like my whole week was made? No? Then why am I letting a lose make me ultra grumpy and pissed off and taking it out on my family?"

So now I let myself feel whatever emotion I want during the game, but then when the game is over I remind myself that a loss means nothing real and tangible to my life.

For real. I can’t imagine a site like this is really very profitable, so to do it all for the love of the game is seriously appreciated. Adds to my game day experience. Thanks a ton MWG!

I've tried over the last few years to be a more glass half full fan and it is tough. It is especially tough with the Lions because they have almost no history in my lifetime of being any good. So I can't say I am a positive fan by any means when it comes to the Lions, but I am trying to be. I am trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and believe they're going to be the ones who come in, punch the other team in the mouth, and win it.

Several years ago when the Red Sox lost to the Mets in the World Series one of my former bosses asked his wife for a divorce. I'm not sure that was the only reason for the separation but the timing was interesting.

That taught a younger me a lesson. It's only a game, a form of entertainment none of what happens on a professional playing field or even a high or college sport will drastically alter my life.

Growing up as a Pirates fan, I'd be depressed for a few hours after things like the Pirates losing to the Reds in the playoffs, or really upset the night that they lost to the Braves in a walk-off. No one got killed. I still had a job, wife, son....that's been my perspective for a long while now. Same as when the Tigers lost to the Cardinals, Giants, Boston....

Watching the Tigers play like they have been the past couple of months has been frustrating for sure, but life goes on....there are much more important things

I can't argue with Grok. It doesn't get facts wrong. This was in the paper this morning, Grok disagrees. I'll take what Grok says at correct;

Grok is wrong.

Maybe I'm a weirdo but it is the opposite for me.  I spent most of my life watching and supporting the Lions being absolutely awful with bad coaching and bad front offices.  So just the mere fact we have a great coach and gm makes it way easy for me to just sit back and enjoy games no matter what happens.  Sure they may lose games still but it could be a whole hell of a lot worse because I lived through it being worse!

Also it is wild to see someone claim that Grok is always right lol.  You could easily google the date that grok gave and see that the Lions lost to the Ravens 48-3.  We're so cooked as a civilization with this reliance on AI brain rot.

I heard someone once say that fans of mediocre teams are the ones who really life and die with the wins and losses of their teams, and I think that's pretty accurate.

If your team is bad... well, who cares if they lose? It's to be expected. And if they win? Well, that's a fluke, not a sign of sudden turn around.

If you're team is good, then wins are to be expected and losses can be tolerated because they're rare and you know your team will bounce back.

It's only when your team is in the middle that each win or loss can mean the start of a trend and therefore has much more meaning.

I ran @Sports_Freak's comments through ChatGPT and it said there's a 97.3% certainty that they were sarcastic.
