Hongbit Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I never again want to hear Dan or Jason talk about how McKinstry is one of the best baserunners in MLB. Quote
RedRamage Posted October 1 Posted October 1 How in the world do they overturn that? There was no clear evidence there in my humble opinion. 1 Quote

MichiganCardinal Posted October 1 Posted October 1 It's what drives me crazy about replay. Completely game, potentially series, changing call because a dude watching a TV was pretty sure enough the right hand was millimeters above 3rd base when the tag was applied. 1 Quote
StrangeBird Posted October 1 Posted October 1 FWIW, Dan and Bobby agreed with the overturned call. He was out and the run didn‘t score. Quote

Sucks that he took a run off the board. You can score from 2nd on a base hit to the outfield almost as easily as you can from 3rd. Never want to make the 3rd out at 3rd. Quote

I don't know that he was safe, but I do know there wasn't clear evidence to overturn what was called. The right hand might have touched the bag (before the tag), might not have. Really, really hard to tell looking at the camera angles we saw. Without clear evidence it should have stood as called. Quote

Easy rule is if it’s not a hockey game and Sean McDonough agrees vehemently about something the opposite answer is almost always correct. Looked like a terrible slide and the tag glanced him on the helmet before the other hand touched the bag. Quote
MichiganCardinal Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I'm like 60% sure he was out. But why have replay options of "overturned," "stands," and "confirmed" if we are just going to look at all replays as if we are the calling official? It's not family feud "survey says." That wasn't definitive. Quote
tiger2022 Posted October 1 Posted October 1 (edited) It was a horrible decision to go to third with 2 outs if it's even going to be close. Give the next guy a chance to drive you in from 2nd. If McKinstry can't score on a single to the outfield from 2nd, screw him. Just a low IQ play. There isn't that much of an advantage being at 3rd over 2nd with 2 outs, at least not a big enough one to risk being thrown out Edited October 1 by tiger2022 1 Quote

Arlington Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I'm listening to more commercials than game. And they are painful, the commercials that is. Quote

There isn't that much of an advantage being at 3rd over 2nd with 2 outs, at least not a big enough one to risk being thrown out I disagree. I like the agressive baserunning. It took a perfect throw to make it close and even then it was questionable. The advantage was we would have had 2 runners in scoring position and a base hit makes it a 4-1 game. They won the most games in the league over a 162 game stretch from last August by being agressive - don't change it now in that situation - just like Cambell shouldn't change it early in a game in the playoffs. If it's the 9th inning, same situation, then it's a different story. Edited October 1 by 4hzglory Quote

The Tigers have killed themselves chasing the long ball. I don't really care what the analytics say on this question - it may be good individually for guys to chase the long ball, but the lack of OBP destroys a *teams* ability to pressure the opposing pitching staff. What is the stat for that? For instance, for for all the K's, the HRs mean Riley's wRC isn't down that much even though his OPB is in the toilet. Which means guys on base in front of him are stranded and guys behind him lose RBI opportunity. Edited October 1 by gehringer_2 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted October 1 Posted October 1 I am willing to repent for everything if Riley Greene hits a three run homer right now Quote
IdahoBert Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Wow, both pitchers getting pulled by the fifth inning. They’re treating this like it’s a playoff game… 1 Quote
