slothfacekilla Posted August 17, 2022 Author Posted August 17, 2022 Oh great news on Simon! I was mildly worried because I found no info on it yesterday. Food poisoning it sounds like? Looks like he's healed 😂 1 Quote
slothfacekilla Posted August 18, 2022 Author Posted August 18, 2022 Disappointing for the team but it seems like Mazur and Savage played well Quote
Hongbit Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Who was that moron on here a while back saying Calgary was a total rebuild and there’s no way Kadri would want to play for Darryl Sutter? Quote
lordstanley Posted August 18, 2022 Posted August 18, 2022 Darn, I would have taken Kadri on that contract. I know it would push him to 38 years old, but still, $7mm for a player of Kadri ability should be very good value for first half of it. Quote

buddha Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 maybe its him recovering from food poisoning, but edvinsson has looked slow and off tonight. wallinder got undressed by a finn in the 3rd. neiderbach has been ok. in fairness, finland can be a hard team to play against. mazur was great the whole tourney. cossa only played once and was just ok. bednar wasnt anything to write home about. Shinzaki Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 (edited) Pronman listed Edvinsson as one of the tournament's disappointments while noting that he was injured pre tournament and had food poisoning during it. Whatever.... Edited August 21, 2022 by Shinzaki Quote
buddha Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 he didnt look good. he just floated, lost the puck a lot. Quote
slothfacekilla Posted August 21, 2022 Author Posted August 21, 2022 His skating looked a bit weird to me in the little I saw, I thought he was injured outside of the food poisoning or whatever. I was guessing some sort of groin issue. I also wasn't very impressed with Sweden's coaching staff or forward group really. Edvinsson wasn't getting any special teams play I believe, which seems odd. He kept trying to force Andrae on the power play and it just....never worked. Just go look at their 5 on 3 against Finland, what a joke! It obviously isn't a "plus" but I'm not too worried about him not being super invested while sick/injured at a random rescheduled summer WJC where some top prospects didn't go and where his coach seemed in over his head. If anything this tournament kinda makes me think Niederbach is a zero as a prospect... Fun little assist from Wallinder: Quote
buddha Posted August 21, 2022 Posted August 21, 2022 niederbach seemed more like a depth player as his ceiling. Quote
buddha Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 https://themalikreport.com/2022/08/21/red-wings-at-the-wjc-wrapping-up-the-tournament-from-a-detroit-prospect-perspective/#more-24153 good write up on the wings prospects. up: mazur, savage, sebrango steady: niederbach, wallinder down: bednar, cossa, edvinsson Quote
slothfacekilla Posted August 22, 2022 Author Posted August 22, 2022 I didn't watch a ton but from my limited viewings I would swap Sebrango and Wallinder in their groups, and swap Niederbach and Edvinsson in their groups. But just my feeling on the prospects for sure. I thought Sebrango was solid but it was about what I expected from what I saw. I thought Wallinder played pretty well for a mess of a team, even with his flaws I thought he showed enough good to be mildly excited. I'll be shocked if Niderbach ever plays in the NHL for more than a handful of games. I see Wheeler's write up on Cossa calls out his goal given up over his shoulder, never mentions that it deflected off his defenseman's stick and wasn't aimed there originally. It sucks he wasn't the guy for Canada but the kid is a project I'm fine giving him time. Quote
AlaskanTigersFan Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 https://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-rumors-august-21-2022/ - Interesting article on Bertuzzi. Good to see people think he has value though. Quote

But when you pick a goalie in the mid-1st round, I expect him to be an all-world monster at the junior level, even if 3 or 4 years away from the NHL. Quote

Maybe with Cossa the FO is thinking 'Ceilings, not floors.' Quote

I think this was always the thinking they had, it is all about projecting where he can end up with his size, athleticism, and work ethic. It is risky but if he develops that would be awesome. Quote
slothfacekilla Posted August 24, 2022 Author Posted August 24, 2022 He played on the fourth line for SKA's big club! Looks like they're giving him another preseason game today, though he only played 13 minutes this last game. 1 Quote
