Russia has a record trade SURPLUS. Sanctions are having a limited effect.

UM - if you have a *surplus* that's because you are selling oil but no-one will sell *you* anything. Seems  that is pretty much what the international community has been aiming at. No-on had any illusions you could stop India and China from buying Russian oil.

If Sanctions are having limited effect (like they always have limited effect) you don't want to be pushing the international community any further than that.  Particularly, if you have shown your ass as a military the last year.

well, the Israeli army has a lot of very nice looking ladies.

I wouldn't know since I don't go looking for pics like that...

But since you posted that vid... I have to say, those are some very lovely ladies. Just as, if not more, beautiful on the inside that they are willing to take up arms in defense of their country against aggression and tyranny. I would think that that vid is also... somewhat effective as a recruiting tool. Ukrainian guys I know are signing up to defend their country. That vid I think could only help (courage, defend your family/ country/ wife and children... etc.).

Clown expert thinks he knows military science.

Quote

One senior Ukrainian government official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to be candid, called the number of tanks promised by the West a “symbolic” amount. Others privately voiced pessimism that promised supplies would even reach the battlefield in time.

“If you have more resources, you more actively attack,” the senior official said. “If you have fewer resources, you defend more. We’re going to defend. That’s why if you ask me personally, I don’t believe in a big counteroffensive for us. I’d like to believe in it, but I’m looking at the resources and asking, ‘With what?’ Maybe we’ll have some localized breakthroughs.”
We don’t have the people or weapons,” the senior official added. “And you know the ratio: When you’re on the offensive, you lose twice or three times as many people. We can’t afford to lose that many people.”

Kupol, who consented to having his photograph taken and said he understood he could face personal blowback for giving a frank assessment, described going to battle with newly drafted soldiers who had never thrown a grenade, who readily abandoned their positions under fire and who lacked confidence in handling firearms.
His unit withdrew from Soledar in eastern Ukraine in the winter after being surrounded by Russian forces who later captured the city. Kupol recalled how hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers in units fighting alongside his battalion simply abandoned their positions, even as fighters for Russia’s Wagner mercenary group pressed ahead.

Both sides have been seriously degraded.

That is true, but Ukraine is fully mobilized, motivated and has been able to train, re-arm at with increasingly modern weapons, and rotate and reconsititute its forces. The Russians are throwing the dregs of their society - convicts and what's left of the young adult population that didn't have the sense, ability to think for themselves and social competence to flee the country already and often with 80yr kit, into a fight they have no interest in. Take your choice.

It should be noted that the vaunted Russian Military was widely expected to take Kiev and decapitate the government in a matter of weeks and even days. And didn't.

It's amazing how frequently the Ukraine haters gloss over that....
