Agreed. Hinch likes to start Short when a ground ball pitcher, like Valdez, starts. But for other pitchers, he should only be a late inning defensive replacement.
-
This would take them out of the running for Duren. I honestly don't think they were ever seriously considering him anyway. Woike is the Lakers beat write for The Athletic.

Maine folks earn crazy voting decisions via their rough winters.

Boston also is not to be missed. Great aquarium. Also, some historical crap. :--) We stayed just off Boston Commons near the "Cheers" bar which apparently was not the one from the show. We never set foot in there because that would have been really cheesy. Very walkable town. Passable food.

I’m not gonna go look at stats, but I think you could probably say that K rates are down and BB rates are up for most of the pitchers on the team—particularly relievers. -
When Eichel was dealt he had a creer high of 82 points and a bad neck. Eichel and a 3rd netted Buffalo Tuch, Krebs and 1st and a 2nd. If anything...I'm letting the Sharks off light

Let's go!!

We should trade Seider

2026 DETROIT TIGERS REGULAR SEASON THREAD
monkeytargets39 replied to chasfh's topic in Detroit Tigers
This is honestly a big need right now—a late inning defensive replacement for Carpenter/Perez/Vierling and even Greene. You can add Malgeri to the 40 and call him up, but he wouldn’t be playing every day most likely—so they would rather use a roster spot on a guy like Outman who can sit on the bench and we don’t have to worry about stunting any development. People on here have been vocal about Zach Short, but we really need the good defense he gives us as a late inning sub. I can see the complaints about him starting more games than he should, but as a bench player on the roster he has some value. Moreso than Workman and Jones at least. -
I'm sure everyone is on pins and needles to see Space X IPO debut today. Trading on the NASDAQ under ticker symbol SPCX it finally hit the tape at 11:46 am today. Price started at $135.00 but quickly the market took over. The broader market is trading at +299 on the Dow, +27 on the S&P, and +40 on the NASDAQ. Space X at $166 as I type this.

So none of the 27 players who got MVP votes are playing in the Stanley Cup Final.

We enjoyed Portland, ME during our brief stop during a cruise last fall. Stayed close to the port but did a nice amble around the tourist district. About 15 years ago we did a tenting trip thru New England and into Acadia. Way too much rain but did enjoy the park. Nothing against “Mainiacs” but I won’t interfere in there elections and don’t expect them to influence ours here in Virginia

My wife has been bugging me for years to do an upper New England vacation. Part of it is I hate vacations full of planning and itineraries. I just want to rend a condo on the beach and veg out for a week and see what comes up.

If a conservative tells you they are for free markets and hate socialism show them this as it being a complete lie.

Are you sure you wouldn't want them to throw Celebrini in too to make it more even?

There's a Funny or Die video with Jason Segal and Paul Rudd sneaking backstage to a Rush show. As Geddy, Alex, and Neil walk in they're saying something like "I think I saw 3....". I saw Prince in 2004 and was also blown away. I never paid much attention to him other than his stuff that came out when I was in school. It was fine to me. But seeing him live blew me away. I saw the talent. He would have been great in any genre. - Today

i caution you against using the phrase "the bulls arent dumb enough to...." have you followed the bulls? they are "dumb enough" to do just about anything. the real question is whether their cheap asses would actually spend the money.

I'll shout it from the rooftops that San Jose is the trade partner I want and the #2 pick overall is what I want. This rebuild has been a failure. Nibbling around the edges and adding mid-level players or trading Larking for another version of Larkin won't cut it. They need to make wholesale changes this roster. That could mean gutting it and doing a full scale rebuild to get a true #1 center, capable of producing 90+ points in a season. It could also mean continuing to try and win now, but bring in 3 full lines of scoring depth, more forechecking and toughness to make it more of a Carolina, Florida, or Vegas type of roster. If they simply trade Larkin for another NHL player on his level or do a 2 for 1 trade where that get two players, not quite as good as Larkin, but equal to him combined, that will keep us stuck in neutral. You have two choices, team tank and rebuild or team revamp but keep trying to win. I'm on team tank and rebuild at this point. I don't think there are enough players out there via a trade, free agency, or in our farm system to add the scoring depth we need to the second/third lines. Nor are there enough out there to add the forechecking skill and toughness we need. Nor are we going to goalie our way to the playoffs and a Stanley Cup anytime soon.

There are lots of weak parts to the US team. i would put central defense at the top of the list if Richard can't play. i would also say this doesnt seem to be a vintage US keeper class. there are no Friedels or Howards, or even Kellers here anymore. I was encouraged by the Germany performance even though they lost and the Senegal performance. Pulicic played well in both games and he's the key to their offense. we'll see if paraguay does the usual south american thing and beats the living **** out of him all game. US is playing at home and should advance. after that its a crap shoot depending on matchups. they have a decent squad, but ultimately not the type of talent that would trouble the better sides in the world.

Welcome to New England! 😉

Acadia is no joke. We took a boat ride from one of the local towns to Bar Harbor that was hilarious because it combined some of the most lovely natural scenery on the planet with some guy behind me telling another guy about the drug treatment centers he worked at in Portland and all the horrors of that life. Such a juxtaposition. I credit it for making it something I'll always remember though.

The Lakers aren't clearing that much cap. I'm not even sure the Bulls or Nets are dumb enough to make a huge offer to Duren, but if they do then I guess congratulations Jalen Duren, you are a Chicago Bull or a Brooklyn Net! Or we can just match. Either way, those are loosing teams he won't want to go to. The best move would be a S&T to the Pelicans for Murphy and Missi. Maybe expand that to throw in some more assets and get Herb Jones back as well. But they won't do it. Either way, there's really no downside to letting him test the market. But again, they won't. They'll give him 38-42M for 5 years because of "player relations". Trajan is the opposite of Weaver. Where Weaver was happy to make reckless moves and "empty the clip" to the detriment of the team, Trajan is overly conservative and loyal...probably also to the detriment of the team.
