  1. Past hour
  2. Sadly, the initial foray into Georgia during the W Bush admin happened while we were totally up our own feelings about 9/11 and all the subsequent stuff. I recall at the time being like..."we have no time for dealing with that" and that was wrong. The US needed to make a stink about that and not allow him to seize a metaphorical sudetenland.
  3. Reading this... Gist of most of it is that she's calling for victim testimony but not calling for and insisting on things like Pam Bondi testifying. Also, a little more dubious is that the Iranian government has really nasty stuff about her on file. My money would be that the Iranians would calculate that would upset their Russian weapon suppliers. Its a dog that hasn't barked when you would think it would given -- the regime is in survival mode.
  4. The guestimation of all the people who i've scanned about the Melania thing yesterday is that the weird appearance before the cameras was because of Michael Wolf's book which involved her suing him and him counter-suing her. This is but one example of the stuff that appears more or less to track.
  5. Today
  6. Would have been awesome to see Paadack vs Verlander. Vegas would have had to set the over at about 16.5 for runs scored. But if he shuts the Tigers down, they should just disband the team.
  7. Good thing he didn't try that on Odor. McRae would have been carted off on a stretcher. Plus McRae probably would have been hit with the ball straight in the face by the throw to 1st by a modern 2nd baseman.
  8. Denver wins in 20T. Michigan outshot Denver 52-26 including 13-3 in the 2nd OT.
  9. No pun intended, but that seems like a big IF. He's already playing at 350lbs+.
  10. He was talking about Proctor I think. I believe he also mentioned that he has concerns about his weight and his ability to compete on strength alone going up against NFL defenders.
  11. Agreed. And when Trump calls out media folks as "fake news", it's mostly because they tell the truth about the crap he's trying to get away with. Like him declaring the Russian election interference "the Russian Hoax" and that he was totally exonerated? It was the opposite. It said he couldn't be cleared. And couldn't be brought up on charges since he was POTUS. The same with the Epstein files. There's no documents clearing anyone but once some of the files were released, he declared they showed he wasn't involved. Even though he was mentioned 1000s of times in the files. And anyone reporting actual facts were/are "fake news." A couple of expressions fit...repeat a lie over and over and it becomes a truth. And..you can fool all of the people some of the time but you can't fool all the people all of the time.
  12. The social media debates are all just sub-text to the more important question though, which is do the people asking for, vying for your support see any intrinsic value in truth over falsehood? The answer in many cases on both side is, sadly, no. However the big difference is that today, there is NO ONE on the right side in office or running for office who can possible have any remaining regard for truth, it's a logical impossibility to reconcile even a shred of regard for the intrinsic value of truth and still be within a 1000 miles of the today's national GOP. It's just not reconcilable - whether we are talking political truth, scientific truth, journalistic truth, any kind of truth. There are plenty of liars on the Democratic side, but there is still some basic nod to truth in the Democratic party, and that difference is all the difference in the world right now.
  13. But it's good to look back and show the younger generation the aggressive way the game used to be played;
  14. Watching Denver-Michigan in Frozen Four semi. 2-2 early in the 3rd. Winner plays Wisconsin for the NCAA championship.
  15. Ha - I heard Jansen talking this morning about an OT that was in play for the Lions and he said after watching him that even though he was big, he didn't believe he would ever be able to keep his pad level low enough to be successful in the NFL -- and gave some detail as to why, but of course I never heard who he was talking about before I got to where I was going!
  16. Nobody is saying it's on the same scale.
  17. Baseball fights don’t excite me like they used to. Nothing really makes me laugh as hard as the Kyle Farnsworth perfect technique tackle or the classic Rod Allen video.
  18. That’s totally fine. I absolutely get your desire to keep your feed free of the nonsense. Makes total sense. I would assume that folks who avoid political social media might lack a keen sense of the scale of left wing social media influence versus that from the right wing, and assume that the existence of both means they are equivalent. They are not.
  19. I dont use twitter anymore but firstnameBunchanumbers used to be bots
  20. Nuance is missing here. I never said there is zero misinformation—or more exactly, disinformation—from the left. I’m talking about scale and influence, the kind of scale and influence the biggest right-wing disinformation-spewing social media personalities have on actual policy-making within the American president's administration. Prove to me that same thing exists to that scale on the left, then you’ll have my attention.
  21. I wish more Dems other than Newsom would call out these red welfare states.
