  2. Batting outcomes in different temperatures: https://markkolier.medium.com/when-the-weather-heats-up-do-hitters-really-get-hotter-2245bdbe0689 Not surprisingly, home runs are way more common in hot weather. Nothing else is significant except non-zone swing %, but the raw numbers there don't look like they are practically significant.
  3. Rasmussen is still on the team because of his contract rather than because of his size. This is part of the culture problem with the team. Some guys are stuck behind him and Compher, the rest are stuck with them. I also thought it was a bad message to extend Chiarot for so long. His job was to hold down a spot until the kids were ready. You’re telling me it’s going to be another three years before Tuomisto or Wallinder are ready? The message seems to be that Stevie is running the team not to lose, and in this sense the players seem to have bought in.
  4. I wanted to let Kane go at the end of last season as I doubted he was going to do much this season and thought there were better places to use the $$ - I know they didn't want o give up what he still brought to the PP, but at his point in his career he wasn't what they needed to improve their 5 of 5 game.
  5. He plays Sieder a lot, but not really more than other #1 Dmen. But just my observation is that when Seider's ice time starts climbing, he does change his game to conserve energy to compensate (which is why I don't like ever seeing them do it). With Larkin and Raymond, I don't think the team overdrives them. Their ice time does not look out of proportion for a #1 line. Certainly nothing like Brian Murray used to do overplaying his best players. But as players you have to be aware of when you are overdriving yourself when you are on the ice. A guy like Larkin has to understand that he has to walk a line between how much time he can stay at max+ effort and still keep himself available. I do wonder if Larkin is a little too emotional (trying too hard) a player for his own good.
  6. Today
  7. did he steal those toys from his 15 year old "friends?"
  8. normally i would assume keith gave is supporting mcclellan because mclellan is giving him information, but gave is retired, right? maybe larkin talks to him still. he's right to call out yzerman. its just the same stuff we've all been saying for the last couple of years, but some of us (me) gave yzerman a long leash until this year's collapse finally pushed everyone over rhe edge. what did we say last year: why is rasmussen still on this team? kane was "fine", but is he a guy busting his ass every night? compher is everyone's whipping boy. copp has disappeared. jvr and appleton are depth passengers. they have been very conservative.
  9. McGonigle SS Torres 2B Keith 3B Greene, R DH Torkelson 1B McKinstry RF Vierling LF Meadows, P CF Rogers C
  10. Good depth signing and glad to have Maddox back. He's the kind of depth piece you want to have around and a veteran presence who can start in a pinch as needed.
  11. keith gave coming out strong!
  12. He once said that he told Putin he would blow up Moscow if he invaded Ukraine. He said Putin was pretty sure he wouldn't do it, but all he needed was a a little doubt and the threat would work. I doubt he ever said that to Putin, but I believe that is why he issues those kinds of threats. I don't think that stuff works when he is dealing with people who are just as crazy as him though. This isn't a real estate deal.
  13. He claims all sorts of fraud on things he doesn't want to fund but issues pardons for the fraudsters because of bribes. https://bsky.app/profile/whodat35.bsky.social/post/3mitbsr7lq22u
  14. Hmm, quite a take by Keith Gave. I agree with the final 3 sentences, but I'm skeptical about sentence #2, "the coach ran his ...". Does anyone here who tracks these things know whether Larkin, Raymond, DeBrincat and Seider were given an inordinate amount of ice time the first 2/3 of the season to compensate for lack of depth?
  15. Nearly every NBA player will want to be in Chicago again now that Josh Giddey is there toying with the rest of the league.
  16. Donald Trump is too stupid to realize or understand that the Iranian government doesn't care if he orders Iranian citizens to be bombed. They recently killed 30,000 of protesting citizens. If he orders bombings, i hope he's brought up on war crimes.
  17. I've read they did know but it wasn't an official source. But watching I got the impression he didn't.
  18. Jason is 42. He probably spent a bit of his younger days listening to the likes of Brandmeier, Steve Dahl, and others in Chicago media. I think he cut his teeth so to speak interning and working at the SCORE (Sports Talk). It's probably second nature to him
  19. If they truly are in love with Proctor, then... 1) He needs to be committed to maintaining his weight at less than 350. Are/ will the Lions bought into this? 2) He has inconsistencies due to excess weight; IMO, this will always be a career-long worry. 3) He can be burned by speed/ quick-changes... he's not a fast-twitch guy/ his weight is great for momentum (rush-blocking... like a runaway freight train); not so good at making quick adjustments to a man with a pass-rush-plan. I'm not sold on this player. And I'm not sold on the Lions interest in him either, despite Campbell and Jeremiah reporting their interest. But what do I know... maybe? Just my 2 cents.
  20. raymond is small and young. larkin is old and has been injured quite a bit in his career. it could just be bad luck and not because yzerman doesnt know what he's doing.
  21. and/or driving themselves too hard because there is no other help? Hockey is a game that can be played at an unsustainable level but only for so long. That true of both teams and individuals.
  22. them being injured makes more sense. but then that is a problem because its two years in a row they've both been hurt at the end of the year. bad luck? or too small? who would stoney have gotten that info from? yzerman is notoriously tight lipped. if its true, it tells you everyone else sees him as a 3C just like a lot of draft experts did when he came out.
  23. I had no idea about his wife and was working with it on in the background. I assumed it was Wiseman that was saying it based on the emotion that bled through from the request. If true that Wiseman and his family didn't know, that's incredible. Right before that they announced it they brought Wiseman's family into command central so they got to hear the request as well.
