  1. Past hour
  2. All in all, a pretty accurate roster assessment. I'm patient and I always wish for the best for these guys, but the truth reveals itself over time - hard ceiling on a lot of the guys. I know this is a bad stretch, and a lot of team go thru this, but many of the shortcomings are recurring themes. Oh, they might have some good stretches, but this is a limited bunch.
  3. Come on now guys, we don't want to hurt his feelings. We have to make sure he keeps his confidence.
  4. I think Charlie Morton is still available.
  5. I have little faith in JB making the proper roster adjustments.
  6. There's speculation (conspiracy theory maybe) that the reason Duren has an infinitely long leash is that his contract has already been worked out. They already had talks and committed to maxing him, so they have to force this and treat him like a max player. Contrast that with Ausar who can sneeze wrong in one game and get benched no matter how many times he saves this team while Duren can play 11 bad games in a row and not lose his playing time.
  7. I am still not sure it is true, but it does raise the same question about Postava. One of them will be the full-time backup in Detroit next year. If Stevie can’t send the other one down and this ends up forcing his hand on a trade, so be it. They will get good value and will still have a strong pipeline in net.
  8. The more I actually sit and think about it, the more I’m a lot more understanding of Chris Illitch. He’s shown that he will spend—although it’s not as often as we want him to as fans….but look at it from the other side. Could he spend half a billion to lock up Skubal for the next 8-10 years? Sure….but the outlook on the team/org as a whole doesn’t support that. We have 2 guys on our offense that are complete players: McGonigle and Dingler. Maybe you could throw Torres in there if he can get fully healthy. Tork- occasional HR power in between looking lost and overmatched at the plate. Gets hot for a short stretch every 5-6 weeks to make it seem like he’s turned a corner when he really hasn’t. Riley- Best overall offensively weapon, but an absolute wet noodle of an arm. Is 25 and always needs days off in the field. Doesn’t run well for some reason. Carpenter- Sells out for power, doesn’t walk enough and can’t hit lefties much at all Keith- Borderline unplayable on defense at any position. Power has regressed sharply. Javy- Still swings at the low and away slider most of the time. Doesn’t walk, doesn’t hit for much power anymore. Meadows- Hasn’t shown he can hit with any consistency and can’t stay healthy—even though that’s not currently his fault this time, it still matters. Vierling- A 4th outfielder on a good team Jones- Can only hit lefties (allegedly) and is unplayable on defense McKinstry- Should be the 26th man on a good team, but we start him all the time because of platoon and defensive deficiencies with other players Rogers- Can’t hit. Perez- Below average defensively—and only really plays RF. Very inconsistent offensively. Then you’ve got the pitchers: Mize, Olson, SGL can’t make it half a season without ending up on the DL for extensive stints. Melton hopefully will come back strong, but it’s an unknown until then. Jobe is a complete unknown as far as what he will be when he’s back. Flaherty is completely washed. Framber was an excellent signing, but hasn’t paid off much at all to this point—and we have all of the pressure of carrying the pitching staff on him now. Keider Montero is one of the only players in the entire organization who is actually meeting and exceeding expectations. Vest, Holton, Hurter, Finnegan are all solid but unspectacular bullpen pieces Hanifee, Anderson, and Brieske are all inconsistent at best Jansen is at the finish line of his career and it’s showing and all the other arms shouldn’t arent good enough to be on major league rosters for any length of time or used in any important situations. Whats there to invest 400-500 million on for one or two players when that’s clearly not going to put us over the top until we clear the organization out from all the one-dimensional every day players?
  9. Today
  10. I can’t blame the front office or on field staff for the injuries this year and frankly that is why they are under performing. Injuries are part of the game and you either have good or bad luck in that department. Didn’t love every signing absolutely not. I hated the Anderson signing and wish that money would have been put toward true bullpen help. Now I do think they need to look at their training staff and offseason programs and try to figure out if changes need to be made to them to give the team the best chance at having luck go their way with injuries.
  11. I would hope he'd confirm that so I guess that's settled! It will be interesting to see what happens. Crazy that a difference of a month and half made him not get the extra season.
  12. I’ll take it one further and say this is what happens when you elect the greatest con man who ever lived and let him run the biggest grift he’s ever done.
  13. But mah Israel!
  14. Oh boo hoo about Israel. The goddamn President is issuing himself checks from the treasury.
  15. The Ilitch family has a track record of being loyal to a fault with their front office personnel. But if Tigers fans turn on Harris and Chris, that could be a turning point. This mess is on Harris, not AJ. He could be on a short leash.
  16. Wonder if I was parked in there that night with you. We had no idea why we couldn't get out, but it took forever and then it was fine, cars finally began moving and we drove up and all traffic was gone. Ever run into an issue where you have an issue getting to a lot that you grabbed a spot via the ParkWhiz app? That's been part of my hesitancy with it, that i'll pick a spot, be happy with the price and it'll end up where traffic is stupid or construction pushes everyone to one area that I have to go to for that spot. Whereas without it, if something like that is happening I could just go around and try to find an open lot a little further away and just enjoy the walk.
  17. They always have these things though. Year after year after year. Even when they purge half their roster every other season. So let’s look less at Hinch and more at Harris and our scouting/development team. Most of the players on our roster and even in the minors have MASSIVE flaws. That’s why Hinch has to manage the way he does with all the platooning, defensive versatility and bullpen chaos. If he had 9 guys he could throw in a lineup every day in the same position and get consistent results with—he’d do that. Granted, that takes time to build up in a system—but the lack of trades/solid signings and international signings are a major weakness and Harris has been here long enough now that we shouldn’t be seeing this much regression.
  18. I parked there in the beginning of Comerica but once got stuck via a stalled vehicle so never again. The free and low cost parking around the stadium are pretty much gone with new construction going on. I now use the ParkWhiz app to get parking ahead of time as many of the lots are part of their system. You pay ahead of time and get a barcode to get in. If you want to try street parking over off of Cass north of 75 that's an option if you don't mind walking. It's usually in the $20-30 range.
  19. If Duren looks out of sorts at any point in the first quarter I want Reed in the game. I know Duren is supposed to give you better defense and more rebounding ability. But so far in this series, and for most of the Orlando series, Duren hasn't given us anything off the glass and only limited defense and shot blocking. He's had what, 2 rebounds in the last 60 minutes of play or something crazy. Even if Reed doesn't give you the defense you'd want, with the way Duren's playing right now, he can't be any bigger of a liability. In-fact, I feel like he is more of a net positive because he is producing points.
  20. I had to listen to Saturday's fourth quarter on the radio in the car making my way to our niece's grad party. Listening to Mahorn go ballistic about everything was pretty entertaining in a way. I forgot how much a potential deep run with the Pistons can be impacted by the spring graduations and my own work. Now, I have to mix in the changing TV venues on top of that. I'm going to have issues with game #6 as well for parts of it. Probably will be listening to a lot of it on the radio as well.
  21. i think the russians value upsetting the us more than any relationship with iran. the russians will turn on anyone. china is more likely.
  22. LOL - China would be odd-bedfellows. The Russians may value Iran too much to go there.
  23. I'd start Duren, but I'd have an itchy trigger finger with him. He's got to show something.
  24. FWIW I saw somewhere that Mize might not go to rehab because it was a short DL, but I still kinda doubt it.
  25. Of course - you know he's still obsessed with a Nobel right? He'd throw almost anything under the bus if XI gives him a way to settle Iran that makes him look good.
  26. Get ready. Numbers out showing wholesale prices up 6%. This is what happens when a criminal operation is put in the White House led by a lifelong conman that’s built an empire on fraud. “Starting on Day One, we will end inflation and make America affordable again, to bring the prices down on all goods.” - 8/9/24 at Bozeman, MT rally “Starting the day I take the oath of office, I will rapidly drive prices down and we will make America affordable again.” “We’re going to get your energy prices down. We’re going to get your energy prices down by 50%.” - both at an 8/17/24 Wilkes-Barre, PA rally. “Energy is going to bring us back up. That means we’re going down and getting gasoline below $2 a gallon, bring down the price of everything from electricity rates to groceries, airfares, and housing costs.” - 9/5/24 Economic Club of New York Of course, I could go the same with the Epstein files, but instead this Administration chooses a criminal cover-up in a situation where Trump’s name is mentioned at this point 38,000 times. This is what happens when you elect a person who has been a con man his entire life.
