  1. By global standards, a middle ground party won the last round of elections.

  2. Imagine if you had told San Diego Padres fans at the beginning of the season that the Tigers would be only 3 games behind them with a week and a half to go in the season.

  3. September, schedule wise, was supposed to be their hardest month. Yet they seem to be in line for over .500 this month. Thats baseball for ya!

  5. Mookie Betts did a good deed a few days ago getting TJ Friedl's first MLB hit and home run ball back from a fan in the stands. He traded his own signed bat for the ball. That's a pretty good trade for the fan. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/look-mookie-betts-retrieves-first-home-run-ball-for-cincinnati-reds-rookie-tj-friedl/

  6. Uniwatch had a post today about the Tigers focus-grouping some throwback uniforms, including a 70s style road uniform and a 1968-style road uniform.

  7. Tuned in to the St.Louis/Milwaukee game last night and learned that none other than Quintin Berry is the Brewers first base coach. The forever man, QB!

  8. Last weekend I ran a few errands and decided to just flip through some stations, I don't even know the station I landed on, but they were playing this. Just fantastic.

  9. In the movie Excalibur, Purciful is talking to himself but also to the memory of Lancelot who has become a angry hermit after his falling out with Arthur over Lancelot sleeping with Gweneviere.....Purciful says..."I can't give up hope, Lancelot...[and in a really celtic weepy tone]....its all I have" substitute..."hope" here for "hatred of the White Sox, Twins (Year of our Lord 2009 in particular) and Guardians" and you have my feelings on this matter.

  15. Do you realize that if we only take The A's and Angels out of the equation that the Tigers are 72-66 this season. Just can't beat those teams. From 9-24 to 74-78. Unreal job by AJ Hinch and his staff. Seems as soon as they got to know the guys, they turned it around. Plus switching from Ramons-Greiner to Rogers-Hasse seemed to flip a switch. 65-54 since then. That's a Wild Card race percentage

  16. Thanks to whoever posted at the old place about this website. The MTS Tigers board was one of my daily haunts even if I was generally a lurker. I like the look of this place a lot more than the old one. Looking forward to lurking here. I didn't know about the ownership situation at the old place, but it sounds like the new owners don't care about the forums over at MTS.

  19. This is a concept MWG could have a little fun with. Set up a hierarchy of double-dealing and collusion: Collaborator, Quisling, Sympathizer, Snake in the Grass, etc --- and most appropriately "defector".

  21. to review the in house options: Niki Groodrum: good arm, mediocre hands, plays back on balls too much to key many DPs. Has power but bat has become black hole, esp from left side. Under control until 2024, Also has options left but only for next season as he would be a 5 yr vet at the end of 22. Isaac Paredes: Can play SS, decent arm, but probably doesn't have the range to be any kind of good there. Hitting as a major leaguer is still total unknown but skepticism is high in many quarters despite his progress in raising his AAA OPS. Zach Short: pretty uniform opinion that he is an above average defender. Close to zero chance he can hit enough to be viable. Ryan Kreilder: Toledo staff say his glove is ML quality. He is currently hitting well beyond expectations for his projections. Can he do it at ML? Again - skepticism remains high but he is doing his best to go out and refute it. Willi Castro: No, No, and No. Unreliable arm, slow pivot, low baseball IQ and general situational awareness. And a bat that flashed in the short season but has also now disappeared-- though at least in his case he is young enough that he could find it again, as opposed to Niko who looks like he is just already on the downside of his career as a hitter. I won't say there is NO hope for Willi, but he needs a lot of work *in the minors* to figure out how to play competent ML middle IF. Harold Castro: Harold is a nice utility level guy, which is where he needs to stay. Bottom line is that I would rate the chances as still being greater than even money that none of those guys pan out so I'm good with pursuing a FA. You can always find a place for a bat if one of the other guys forces himself into playing time.

  22. Wow, Gose hitting 100MPH in the game last night. As a lefty, he has some potential to stick around a bit if he can keep the control in check. Good job young man! https://www.motowntigers.com/2021/09/21/former-tigers-of-gose-flashes-100-mph-heat-for-indians-fans-perez/

  23. I haven't seen him play personally, but the reports from those who have day that he's a natural SS and should stick there in spite of his size. I don't know if he's the answer at SS, but I think it'd be a mistake to not increase the team's talent via FA, with or without Kreidler. In the unlikely event that we end up with 2 good SSs, I'm sure we'd be able to figure it out.

  24. And Willi Castro or Goodrum are? It's not like anyone is asking to bench Ryne Sandberg to give Kreidler a shot. Hinch's mantra is supposedly that this org will reward you based on what you do rather than your press clippings. Even if it's only to prove he will fail Kreidler is building a strong case to be given the chance in place of either of two clearly sub replacement level players.
