I've done that once....a minor league player (may or may not have been a service academy graduate) laid some shit bare when it came to treatment of soldiers in Iraq and the leadership they were receiving. It was all part of a discussion about why he left baseball to deploy to Iraq....I was factual, quoted him honestly, but also knew he had the potential to get in a bunch of trouble from the article. I asked him to review the article and give me his blessing because it was his ass on the line. He made one minor tweak to the article, actually making a two sentence sequence more critical of the situation and was adamant I publish the piece immediately.

I ended up scrapping the sofi account in favor of some Fidelity mutual funds. My 401k is through Fidelity so I figured I would keep it all together. I made small investments in large growth, mid cap and total bonds funds for now. Only invested a little to get my feet wet. I noticed back in 2013 I invested a small portion of my 401k into a real estate fund. Totally forgot about and come 2021 that real estate fund exploded. Somewhat related to investing, I leased a Chevy Trax in 2019 right before the pandemic as a commuter car. The pandemic hit and I've worked from ever since and the car has remained parked with low miles Now with this chip shortage, I have dealers fighting with each other to buy my Trax. I have offers upwards of $5,000 over the lease payoff. They are literally offering more than what I paid for it new. Who would have thought a Chevy Trax would have appreciated in value?

Day trading is a different animal than investing for retirement. My goal is long haul so I put the money in and do not touch it.

I do all my own investing also. When I started I put all of our money in 5 different funds that I took weeks to research. They are doing really well. Since then I take fliers on random companies here and there with a few hundred...those are up and down, but my main ones are the ones doing well.

A lot democrats are very much against racism and bigotry until black person runs as a Republican. Then a lot of them forget about those values. Recently we've seen it with Larry Elder in CA, now with Walker and in the Michigan Gubernatorial race with Chief Craig.

Best thing to do is report that tweet and anybody who amplifies it. Let twitter take it down and apply any strikes it needs to he and Gaetz et. al. The quote tweeters are just giving it fuel.

One of the memorable games from the era we are talking about was the Cardinals and Braves 19 inning game where Jose Oquendo pitched four innings. The Cardinals ran out of position players and Jose DeLeon was playing the outfield. He kept on switching from right to left with Tom Brunansky depending on who was batting. Every time they made the switch, they showed them running in front of Willie McGee in center and they kept showing McGee's face which made me laugh. McGee just had this innocent look all the time that was amusing. He was one of my favorites from that era.

1989 was the summer before I got my drivers license. I was 15 and past the point of “going out and playing”, we did more of our stuff later in the day by then. Usually just hanging out at someone’s house. I spent a lot of time that summer home during the day and watching the Cubs. When they won the division I felt like a Cubs fan. It was neat.

Everything I have is through Fidelity and I manage it myself. My brother goes through an independent broker. He makes about the same as I do each year but he pays a lot of fees. I recommended Fidelity because there is a lot of info and research available but the others are good too. I just started with Fidelity, not knowing anything and learned the ropes. There are a tons a mutual funds and many are a like. I started with $100 in an Equity Fund. I've invested a lot since then but also had some really good years of returns. I plan on retiring in about year.
