I'd argue that Fox News giving Rittenhouse a whole hour on Tucker Carlson probably does more to inflame the situation than CBS making a factual statement.1 point

Are students at Brandeis not allowed to have feelings or opinions on current events? I get that students in higher education may not be the median voters, but that doesn't mean that their feelings or opinions are somehow invalid or worthy of dismissal either.1 point

Maybe. I am not watching every game like I used to, but after posting this I went and checked and dude is still leading the team in scoring and while not very efficient at .45% still seems to be the guy everyone on the team is trying to feed when he is on the court. I have no doubt you watch more games than me, but out of the 16 so far this year I have watched more so far this year then in years past already. I am just excited to be able to talk about basketball again. Out of all the major sports basketball was the one I was the best at as a kid and the one I played more than any other.1 point

I may have seen it here, but the smartest thing I’ve seen about Trump and his followers was this: There are two types of Trump voters, those that Trump uses and those that use Trump.1 point

They are unvaccinated and had tighter restrictions and better compliance than we did. Their delta waves didnt get a chance to percolate. Once people are out and about and gathering indoors like we saw in the south this summer when it was hot and now in the midwest and NE this winter the delta variant is going to attack the unvaxxed and there will also be breakthrough cases. The German healthguy said by the end of Winter every German will be either vaccinated, recovered, or dead. Anyway.... this is a theory. At some point everyone will be exposed to the virus and they'll not get it because of vaccination/immunity or they will get it. I'm still not clear on whether a vaccinated person who is exposed and it's "blocked" means it will always be blocked..... like did something trigger a response that shows it will always work or is it Russian Roulette?1 point

No, that's why he came here when offered equal money by Denver (a good playoff team). He wanted the chance to showcase his skills. He can light it up when he gets hot, but he also takes a lot of low efficiency long two-pointers and isn't good at creating for others. Most don't see him as #1 or #2 option on a championship team and question his timeline with the Pistons youth movement, so you'll often hear people talk of moving him for picks or a younger player.1 point

I mean, yeah. Almost like those people are hypocrites? It doesn't really matter whether it's David Hogg or Kyle Kashuv or Kyle Rittenhouse, it's hard not to be cynical about how political actors use people who either aren't emancipated or are barely so for their own ends.1 point

i dont know what i would do if someone pointed a gun at me, or said they were going to kill me and then started to beat the crap out of me. im not a gun person, so if im honest with myself, i would likely try to run away. i think most people would run away because life is not the movies. i dont say that as a way to say rittenhouse did something wrong, but more as an admission that i dont think i could kill someone.1 point

Well... let me rephrase what I said above: 1) Correa or BUST! 2) Well, not really. If we can't get Correa, I want Story. 3) Those guys are #1 and #2 on my list. And no one else is close. But yeah, I'll take any upgrade over our current situation, even if that means Taylor, Semien, Baez, whomever.... But I'm not really happy that we couldn't land a top 2 choice for this team. Glad for the upgrade, but disappointed in the team's chair (musical chairs) that they end up with. Until that is... whomever is playing SS for us next year gets us on a real nice winning streak because of defense and some O... But really, I'd like Correa #1. And Story #2. Those are my two "I want" guys versus the other "consolation prize" guys.1 point

The reality is that the state that perfected and mainstreamed the concept of mass mail-in voting was Florida. Which has had Republican Governors in charge since I was 2. And it has been widely used in a lot of western, R-led states like Utah, Idaho and Arizona for years as well. And while I dont know that Dems previously complained or not when they weren't as nimble at turning out voters for mail-in ballots, the reality is that that form of voting only became a bogeyman for Rs when Donald Trump made it a bogeyman for Rs.1 point

I'd be happy to take any of the three after Correa and Seager if you can do it for 5 yrs and I almost don't care what the AAV would be. I wouldn't blink at even 150 over 5 for Story or Baez. You can afford the AAV when you are winning. I know there is a view that money in the out years is less important because of inflation et al, and that is true to some degree, but the high salaries for guys who aren't producing ( a la Cabrera ) keep bad teams bad longer, and as a fan that is what I want to avoid.1 point

I think Correa gets at least 10 years and over $300M. I don't know what Baez will get, but it shouldn't be $250M. I think that's way too much for him. I definitely wouldn't want the Tigers to go more than 4 years for him. I saw an estimate of 5/$100M for him. I think that's probably reasonable.1 point
-
I would agree with you there. I would also like to know how much tailgating you have done already today if you are seriously thinking Baez is going to get $250M this offseason. Please do not operate any heavy machinery for a while.1 point

Of course they can afford him but that doesn't mean they should. The young kids, if they are good, will get expensive soon.1 point

I don't get all the hate and negativity toward Rittenhouse. Sure you can say he shouldn't have been there but the same can be said about the rioters and the people who attacked him. I've heard people say the two guys would be alive if Rittenhouse stayed home. Once again they would also be alive had they stayed home. Was Rittenhouse looking for trouble? I don't really think so but the rioters for sure were. Rittenhouse did what he had to do to stay alive and safe. Would all the people condemning him not fight back if they were attacked? What if their family was attack. Would they tell them to take a beating or a bullet because that is the criminals right because they were protesting? When a person is under attack and their life is in danger they have every right to use any means neccesary to survive. He did just that.0 points

Miggy comes off the books after 2023. We have an exceptionally low payroll excluding Miggy. A roster full of young kids. I don't accept the above excuse to not go after Correa, even if it costs $300 Mill. Wrong answer.0 points
