  1. Compare them over the last 2 full seasons including the partial 2020 season where Correa struggled and Correa had better stats at everything except ISO and HR/PA. Compare them over the last 4 or 5 full seasons or their careers and it's the same thing. Interestingly, they have had almost identical number of PAs over their careers, which makes for an easy career comparison: Correa - Baez Singles: 178 - 176 Doubles: 162 - 160 Triples: 8 - 19 HRs: 133 - 149 Walks: 347 - 156 K: 660 - 953 BA: 277 - 264 OBP: 356 - 307 SLG: 481 - 477 OPS: 837 - 784 wOBA: 356 - 328 wRC+: 128 - 103 Bottom line: Baez has a slight edge in HR, but Correa's enormous advantage in walks makes him an elite/HoF level producer (a wRC+ of 120 or better for a career is elite), whereas Baez's wRC+ of 103 makes him an average producer overall. Don't get me wrong, I am happy with Baez, but he is hardly the equal of Correa in terms of hitting talent, and Baez at 29 is at the tail end of what is considered to be a prime age range for baseball players (26 - 29 is usually the peak performance period), whereas Correa is closer to the beginning of that range at age 27. And FWIW, I haven't seen anyone "whining" around here, just recognizing that Baez isn't the overall offensive producer that Correa is.

  2. The Tigers got their catcher, shortstop and starting pitcher and didn't spend like a drunken sailor just as Avila promised. I don't expect any other major acquisitions, but there may be a couple of interesting pieces added.

  5. Lol. You are the one fixated on abortion. All I want is exactly what I stated, which is judges willing to subordinate whatever they may believe as religious teaching to the supremacy of a system of secularly derived law.

  6. Reminds me of the "non partisan" types who decry the lack of civility in political discourse from the left while being silent or ignoring it from the far right.

  7. It is old. These numbers pertain to the original strain of Covid-19 and maybe the numbers for the variants are different. At any rate, it does support the conclusion that Covid is way worst than the flu for almost all age groups except under 15.

  9. Some interesting stats on Covid versus flu: https://freopp.org/comparing-the-risk-of-death-from-covid-19-vs-influenza-by-age-d33a1c76c198 Perhaps, schools should have been left open, but restrictions for adults seem appropriate. Of course, closing schools might have been the reason for lower numbers.

  11. I still think you are seeing the markets and the economy reacting to the country, or at least parts of it reopening from covid shutdowns. Its not that Biden or his people had much to do with it other than it was mostly blue states that shut down for longer periods. I think some shutdowns were done to hurt Trump and the economy. Covid is as bad as ever now and I haven't seen any talk of shutdowns or the plan Biden had to get us out of the pandemic that he campaigned on. Maybe he forgot? On the other hand Biden probably hasn't done a lot to hurt the economy either. What he's doing to hurt the country, like the invasion on the uncontrolled southern border doesn't impact the markets or economy. If his BAN (bankrupt America now) plan was to pass that could hurt the economy.

  14. all of you seem to base your idea of "religion" on people who hold views outside the norm of most people in the country. joe biden is catholic. is he going to make you take communion and invade palestine? you all have been watching too many handmaid's tale episodes.

  15. Ive been seeing more and more that the Jags are interested in a tackle to protect Lawrence and would probably go with Neal 1st overall. That would certainly work for me.

  16. Watched most of the 2nd period last night on a stream out of Russia...Edvinsson is so fricking mobile...seeing the highlights is one thing, but to see someone that size actually moving like that within the game it's even more impressive.

  21. The topic of the article was whether ACB was going to follow the advice she was once happy to dispense to others that judges facing decisions where existing law and personal religious belief conflict should recuse. Barrett's topic at the time was the death penalty and here the writer (S. Sherry) re-framed the question wrt Abortion. However, the question of judges who profess fealty to higher standards of impartiality but then abandon them when facing the chance to advance their own political/religious agenda is certainly broader than just abortion. You can certainly criticize a Douglas for text as mushy as 'emanations of penumbras' but even mushy secular arguments are less dangerous to the republic than those whose real premises are religious.

  24. Anyone religious enough not to recognize the supremacy of secular law in a republic that guarantees freedom of and from religion should be all rights be barred from judicial service and if they were intellectually honest they would not seek the role. Religious zealots like like Scalia and Barrett are a scourge on the 1st amendment.

  26. remember, it took a while before any one matched ARod's contract. Not every new contract set a new baseline. Correa's hoping Lindor is not ARod. Maybe he'll be right, maybe not.

  27. Putting something out there like the 10/275 removes the argument down the road that the Tigers didn’t try to snag Correa. If in fact, the offer was made and he turned it down, it puts Correa on record as saying no the Tigers. It can’t be said that the Tigers didn’t make an effort. From a PR perspective, good move on the Tigers part.
