  1. Folks, this is Lucy. We just got home so she's a little anxious and she's exploring the whole house. She's a very mellow girl

  3. Despite this I believe we have the worst record in the majors during this time which just seems unfathomable.

  4. Los Angeles Angels (52-67) at Detroit Tigers (45-76) (That's Bob Sprout. He was a 1961 expansion draft pick by the Los Angeles Angels. He was the first Detroit Tiger selected by the Angels, the third Tiger selected, and the ninth player drafted overall. This is the only MLB game he ever appeared in. Enjoy today's game.)

  6. I am a big charcoal Weber grill guy, I have 5 setup for various cooks. Last night made my first run of jalapeno poppers fresh out of the garden. Here is the recipe I use, the key is to pull all the seeds out and they become very mild. https://www.weber.com/US/en/blog/grilling-inspiration/smoked-jalapeno-poppers/weber-29850.html

  12. Cody says organization is more important than the coach, but I think he has it at least a bit backwards. If the parent club's hitting coach is not driving the organization on this kind of thing, who can/will? Isn't it his job to be the expert in hitting development tech? And again, why does Hinch get a pass on this? Coolbaugh works for him and is manifestly not performing. The Tigers supposedly already have sophisticated video mechanics analysis equip - do they stow it all away under the bleachers at Joker Marchant for the season when ST ends?

  14. Damn, those look amazing. Yum 😋 I don’t grill. I’m a stove-top, or oven-roasted chick. 😁 This morning’s creation was a green pepper, red pepper flakes, fresh basil, red onion, Roasted cherry tomatoes frittata… with a side of avocado. (It’s sooo late morning, can’t really be called breakfast, so let’s say brunch)

  17. Yes, the President’s Own, they just came back from a tour to Prague, Innsbruck and Holland. It is a good gig. And yes too, lots of practice for any musician/band to excel.

  19. My daughter just graduated high school and was in marching band for 6 years(Her school allows middle school kids to participate). They won state the last three years. From band camp to state these kids put in three times the hours of any sport for their season. I never did marching band but I have a ton of respect for the program now after seeing these kids dedication.

  20. My daughter uses my mom's clarinet from her high school marching band days. Mom would've been at every performance if she could. In a way, she's there at every practice and performance.

  21. It's great to see band programs getting recognition as opposed to being an after thought in many school systems. It's a skill that can continue until much later in life. One of the things I miss about not living in Michigan is the the lack of community bands here. The closest one is about 40 minutes away. Part of the reason is population density I think, but I think the culture in SE Michigan is a bit different. Lots of grads from U of M and Mich State are still playing into their mid to late 70s (or later). It's a bit more transient here. When we were back in Michigan recently my grandson indicated he was interested in playing in the school's band (he's in fifth grade). He wants to play sax. I told him if he makes the first cut I'll give him one of mine.

  22. She is a sophomore, so we've run the annual gamut once already. It's OK, that's her bag, she enjoys it, the program is a very good one, I'm all in. I never paid attention to bands before, but it obviously changes when you have a rooting interest, so to speak. They had around 120-130 kids last year, and it looks to be the same this year. The stands didn't necessarily empty at halftime last night, and that seems pretty typical from our experience. #bandparent

  23. Yep. Stop placating them. The B1G is enabling ND's independence by scheduling with them. Announce that B1G is moving to a 10-team conference schedule, along with an SEC partnership for one game per year. No competitive B1G team will take their one non-conference game that can be a cupcake and schedule ND. ND will be left with table scraps and would join the B1G within two years, when their most competitive game on the schedule is against Miami.

  25. I noted before that one possible input from the coaching staff is what kind of sliders guys are throwing, what kind of % they are throwing it and now early in the game (before they are completely loose) they are throwing them. I don't think anyone knows very much about what kind of impact these things have in any reliable way, but they are all things I can believe we might one day realize were making a difference. They have also starting doing bio-mechanics, and you never know - if a computer model is faulty or flawed they may be advising guys into potentially destructive mechanics. It's has to be harder to validate computer models against human physiology than against mechanical systems, as absolute accuracy is much harder to come by for the functional dimensions of a human joint than a manufactured bearing.

  26. aj is not the problem, imo. however, if a new gm wanted to come in and clean house and bring in his own people, i'd be fine with it. the team has regressed so badly this year that no one in management should be safe.

  29. jim leyland had one of the best roatations in baseball stacked full of hall of famers and a lineup of great players in detroit and never won 100 games and never won a world series. sparky anderson had a stacked team with the tigers full of hall of famers and won once. with one great season. you dont win without great players. and even good managers lose with great players. but if your players suck, you're going to be bad like the tigers are now and your manager is going to look bad because of it. unless he just quits like leyland did in colorado. now that's a great leader.

  30. Outside of possibly managing the bullpen the most important thing for a manager for me are the things that happen behind the scenes that we as fans don't really have access to. Take Leyland for instance, I think this was one of his strong suits, he seemed to know when guys needed days off and new what buttons to push with each player to maximize their abilities. Some may not have agreed with his in game tactical strategies(most notably some of his lineup constructions) but how he actually managed the team away from the field made up for any of his shortcomings.

  32. I like AJ Hinch, believe that we are lucky to have him given the circumstances and agree with those that believe he isn't remotely the biggest problem with the club right now. But I don't believe that he's fully clean of the issues going on with the club either.... Coolbaugh is a good place to start, as one imagines he has sway over who is and isn't on his coaching staff.

  33. I also wouldn't call Hinch a failure in Detroit. His roster is a load of shit no one could win with. He's proven he can win 100+ games with the right roster. Hinch is the least of the Tigers' problems.
