The attached chart showed leagues over time with different profiles which gives you an idea of how much on base and slugging are worth in different environments. I believe that will give you somewhat of an answer to your question. I don't think you'd have two teams today with more different profiles than the ones for let's say today versus the deadball era.1 point

They've reached the point where they need to call in the adults. Get members of the "Problem Solvers" caucus together and nominate a compromise candidate and to hell with the major trouble makers... Nominate someone like Brian Fitzpatrick or even Don Bacon1 point

If Corum can secure a six-figure NIL deal, it makes a lot of sense for him to return versus making that as a late-round pick and very possibly flaming out. Come back, be a preseason Heisman favorite, and finish what he started.1 point

Fox announced that they will be showing the Ram/Seahawks game at 4pm in the Detroit market so we'll be able to actually watch the game instead of just keeping tabs via twitter/scoreboard watching.1 point

His firearms training from the military will stand him in good stead if he wants to be governor of the backwoods crazies in Barry County et.al.,1 point

That caucus has already demonstrated tat there are no number of concessions McCarthy can give them to get them truly on board. They apparently made those demands so McCarthy would reject them and they could point at him to their base and say "See? He's a secret Democrat." I would say McCarthy is wasting his time, but his time is worth nothing in the context of Congress, anyway.1 point

Went back to the DMV today. Toyota released the lien, finally. Virginia gave us a new title. All it took was one or more employees to have enough gumption to ask a supervisor for assistance.1 point

Unless they expect the same concessions from whomever is selected as speaker.....1 point

It's not a safe seat by any means, but I commend Stabenow for knowing when it is time to pass the torch. A lot of pols (like Feinstein) don't.1 point

ex Rep Jolly made a good point on MSNBC though. Just because McCarthy has the majority, even a large one, of the caucus, doesn't mean he in someway 'deserves' the speakership. You need 218 and he doesn't have them. Many other members might be able to find a majority but not 218. What is really going on is that the caucus is so devoid of internal leadership and maturity, that they are stuck hammering their heads against the wall between two bad alternatives instead of working up the internal negotiation process needed to get to the needed consensus. You can say the 20 are being intransigent, but so is McCarthy's refusal open the door to a different candidacy and sitting through repeated unproductive votes where he isn't moving the process at all either.1 point

Casey is a horrible in game coach. This has been a given for years going back to Toronto. Decent development coach, his guys play hard for him but his teams continually have no real systems. He's the perfect tank coach really so until they start becoming serious about winning, he'll be the guy. Hopefully that means that he gets moved to a different role in the organization after this season since we know he won't be removed from the organization completely.1 point

I’m unhappy with the offseason, but the truth is we have few tradable assets and ran into an unfriendly free agency cycle, with teams willing to spend ridiculous money. Hard to compete with a winning team and/or more desirable location. We really don’t know how aggressive we tried to be in free agency, given that Harris seems to keep things close. I’d be surprised to learn that Harris and Co were not being aggressive or innovative, but are instead victims of the current circumstances. It sucks, but I’ll keep my pitchfork in the shed.1 point

Also it's a question of people's expectations going in - one person in the comments section of Cody's article said that while they didn't expect Correa, they expected them to be in on Cody Bellinger, Michael Brantley, Andrew Benintendi, etc. Despite the fact that Harris has continually stated that the need in the OF is for someone who bats right handed. Or JD Martinez who only makes sense in a world where Miguel Cabrera is put out to pasture. The Tigers need bats, but the need doesn't mean they should be taking a scattershot approach and just signing anyone and everyone on the market - they still need to be discerning within those needs, focusing not just on production but who also makes sense based on platoon splits and the like. The other part is that, again, the offseason isn't over yet. People hate hearing it, but there is still time left and it's hard to prejudge without knowing what it will look like when the cake comes out of the oven.1 point
