After everything we have seen from Trump—not only how he attempted to overthrow America, and still does, but going back into his various personal and business dealings for the past 40-plus years—if you still vote for him, you’re a fan of his, full stop. All the things he wants to do to America is what you want done to America, too. If you still support Trump being president after all that, you can no longer separate your own ethics, morals, and values from his.6 points

Setting aside his lack of morals, decency and honesty both personally and professionally, the big problem with Trump for me isn't so much that he's (now) a Republican. It's that he's a populist... and populism is a pretty big turnoff for a lot of voters because it tends to be long on griping, complaining and exploiting outgroups (ie. all the culture war BS) and short on actual policy solutions. And unfortunately, he has remade the entire party in his image... even in who the establishment Rs have elevated (ie. DeSantis), they are signaling that they think the problems that voters have with Trump are more style over substance... just repackage the Trumpism without Trump. And it's very much not clear that is the case... If the Democratic Party ran a candidate who positioned himself like the above, they wouldn't make it to Super Tuesday, let alone win the whole thing because the largest constituencies in the party (ie. black voters, college whites, etc.) are more policy driven than grievance driven voters.4 points

This seems like a really miserable way to live your life, yikes. No wonder our country is so messed up a ton of people are treating it like their favorite sports team.3 points

Correct. We can't save everyone in the world from the bad people they live with. The problem is that by the actions of 20 yrs we were the ones that put them in peril in the first place which does generate a higher level of responsibility, but even given that, the US does in the end have to extricate itself from policies that were a mistake in the first place and can't be fixed and if there were ever any easy way to do that in a place it means the policy probably wasn't a mistake and the need would never have arisien. The responsibility for the exit failures in Afghanistan may be Biden's but also to just as great an extent, Bush's, Obama's and Trump's. Biden may have been the one write to the check, but he was fundamentally paying off the bill run up by others.2 points

I'm not sure if it's fair to say it's a result, it was something that happened after the evacuation. The evacuation wasn't the cause, the cause was the taliban murdered them.1 point

Sure. They are probably gonna have to ride Wentz... Which, it is what it is. We know the stuff is there, obviously it'd be better if they could drop him to Toledo to find it, just have to see if he can bounce back next time. As far as Tyler Alexander goes, increasingly unclear as to his point on this team... Seems like every outing is 2IP, 3R lol1 point

As far as Chas' second point goes, though I understand the skepticism, I do think he stands a good chance at conviction here. In particular, his whistleblower lawsuit has brought other members of the House and Senate to the brink of legal liability (ie. Paxton making asks of them that would lead to the FBI knocking on their doors) and they aren't interested in that. Either way, in any one party state, whether it be a GOP one like Texas or a Dem one like Illinois, you are gonna have factions within the party and they aren't always gonna align. Which means that just because Ken P wears the "R" after his name doesn't mean he's universally loved or doesn't have enemies within his party. Particularly given all the criming he has done over the years. The combination of these factors just means it's his chickens coming home to roost imo.1 point

LOL - I have that problem with Panera - no matter what I do I'm apparently unworthy of being being a Panera regular - so I must continue to place any lunch time web orders as a mere 'guest.'1 point

Bingo. Politics is not supposed to be a rooting for a team exercise, it's supposed to be vehicle for maintenance, repair, and progress of society -i.e. good governace. As soon as your 'side' become more important to you than the objective of improving the result of the process you've not only lost whatever you game you wanted to play, you've lost your country.1 point

Latest rumors have been the Tigers like Clark and Jenkins, but neither of them would be even close to an off the wall pick like taking Jobe. Until right before the draft when the Tigers fell in love with him, Jobe was commonly mocked to go in the teens. Both Clark and Jenkins would be seen as top 50 overall prospects in MLB from day 1 and I think ESPN has them both in the top 30. I'd be happy with any of Crews, Langford, Jenkins or Clark.1 point
