  2. Because it is important to make sure that everyone here knows about it. Motownforums is a private club, it isn't Letters to the Editor, and it is a private club where 99% of the members are opposed to white supremacists and xenophobes and their dog whistles. So when Greta kicked that guy's nuts up into his throat, I would never have heard about it if it had not been mentioned here. Here is an FAQ from this site: "How did the Republicans manage to F up an entire country, top to bottom, perhaps irreparably"? And the answer always is "Because the Democrats stood back and let them". That's what happens when people say "just ignore them" or "don't give it oxygen". It's terrible advice. You have to bring this type of thing to everyone's attention, and mock it mercilessly.

  4. Badoo has improved in the field but still takes bad routes. Sometimes his speed over comes that and other times it doesn’t. He is Inconsistent and his throwing is terrible and teams run at will. I say play it out this year and if he hits trade him this off season. Riley Greene should be our left fielder. His arm plays there, it’s a large area he can handle and it’s easy on hit legs. He runs so upright he pounds his shins. Get Verling in right field where his arm plays and his half tick slow reads don’t hurt as much as center. And bring Meadows up for center. Now. We have lost two games Marisnick would have won with catches. And keep Carpenter at DH. Defense. Please.

  6. It's Wolf's fault. He's doing a rain dance before every pitch.

  7. The fans view of Jobe is so colored by Marcelo Meyer that it has obscured that Jobe really is a talented prospect in his own right. It's really that simple. And while I get it, I wish he wasn't so defined by that and I dont think he should be imo.

  8. I'm tellin ya, seeing that approach to start the game makes me question Hinch what he actually does/says to these hitters in certain situations. That was just awful.

  9. Max Clark skipping FCL and going straight to A ball. Very aggressive. He may be the youngest player in that league.

  11. Exactly, it comes down to free will. The fact that (some) slaves learned some skills doesn't abrogate the denial of free will to said slaves. And as far as the added context is concerned, I'm not sure why it's needed... like, no **** they learned some skills, their literal existance was to do labor that white owners didn't want to do. That's just implied.... It all just strikes me as a way to excuse the behavior of the past and to tell a sanitized version of history, and it's BS. And for my part, it's not the reason we are moving back up north, but a significant benefit to making the move is hopefully not having to worry about my kids being taught a sanitized version of American history whereby the Confederates "had their reasons" or whatever BS

  12. It's sort of cheating though - Minny's appearances in in the 70's and 80's were 'unserious' (for lack of a better word).

  13. Not challenging the McKinstry tag. The single road from Eindoven. The Polish brigade dropping without their gear. The drop zones being too far from the bridge.

  15. It takes time to not only get the tarp off, but I think they throw some dry dirt around the bases and wait for the water to drain in the OF a little bit. That's usually 30 minutes or so.

  20. Or maybe coach em up going into the game...I mean that's what coaches get paid to do right?

  21. At least he didnt strike anybody out...but seriously, only 4 pitches for the rookie?! Do these hitters actually get coached up with any sort of strategy?! Maybe try to make the kid work...ffs

  25. A lot of that obfuscation gets down to questions of what it means to "love" America. To be quite frank, I just think a lot of conservatives (not all, but quite a few) take the view that to love the country is to never question its past and just talk about how great it is... no introspection, just empty patriotism that wraps itself in the flag. It doesn't demand improvement, it's just stagnant and incapable of improvement Just as all of us have family members in life who maybe struggle with various flaws and who we would like to see overcome, I would argue that to love isn't to run away from the problems and to just be comfortable with the status quo, it's to deal with the flaws and make this country, that is already great in many ways, even greater. Collectively, I think we do more of the latter now than in the past. But because of that, the insanity from those who prefer the former approach is just amped up to a greater degree. And we see it manifested in the kinds of bat**** crazy comments like the one Ron DeSantis uncorked above And yeah, a lot of moneyed interests are more than willing to exploit those differences

  26. I got reamed for being pro-Cody Ross-for-Steve Colyer trade back in the day. I understood what DD was shooting for... Cody was a productive player at a certain level but DD was hunting late innings domination. Obviously, Colyer/ DD/ (and myself) flopped on that point... The point I am making now is that, if Kerry Carpenter gets traded, it better be to improve the team. One or two key guys in return that seriously increase the talent of the Detroit Tigers, and not Toledo or Erie with crap results in MLB. If we trade away a productive talent for a couple of lottery tickets that flop into nothing... we lost value. I learned my lesson on that... although you still take chances on trades like that (same direction or in REVERSE), such as Paredes for Mathews. But... we better win this one if there's a possibility of it happening... IMO. I don't want to trade JD for crap, but we did. I was OK with trading Ross for Colyer. But that ended up crap. So did trading Suarez. I don't want to trade Kerry for crap. So if the intent is to IMPROVE the talent level of the Tigers... what team is actually out there that would be willing to give us a top prospect or two for Kerry that will improve the Tigers? Because I don't see it. I don't see any offer possible (go ahead and show me one) for Kerry Carpenter the DH that makes our team better, now or in the future. He just doesn't carry that kind of trade value. So... the ONLY result we can get for trading Carpenter, is a loss in talent. No gain. IMO. And for that reason, I have no interest whatsoever in trading Kerry. But... sure, blow my doors off with a trade. A 100% guarantee of a win. Show me that and I might change my mind. Until then...

  27. That may have had something to do with it but I think in general Campbell and the LIons are more analytic based and the analytics usually side with going for it on 4th down and short inside the 40 regardless of who your kicker is.

  29. If it is just two guys in the same game, in 1980 Minnie Minoso played in a game with HOFer Harold Baines. Minoso started in 1946 and Baines retired in 2001.
