  1. they must have a ridiculously bad offensive coordinator too! 🙂

  2. I'm thinking I made the right choice not to get the Youtube.tv sunday ticket. I can follow the game just fine on radio and then watch extensive highlights almost right after. This is the right place to be if the Lions are thriving. If the Lions were mediocre...still the right play. NFL Sunday Ticket is ridiculously expensive.

  6. Eisenreich's comeback was a success story. I remember when he played for the crazy Phillies teams of the 90s, Kruk told him: "For the fitrst time in your life, you're the most normal person on the team".

  7. It turns out signaling to the entire world that the US isn't going to stand by it's allies, to the point where they'll shut down the government to not stand by our allies, isn't a good idea.

  12. I pay $5 per month to my cable provider for time-shift so that I get Fox and CBS and CTV (Canadian network that covers NFL) affiliates from both Pacific and Eastern zones. So I got 11 of this week’s 16 games and have got every Lions games so far this season. I used to pay for Sunday Ticket when the Lions were bad because fewer of their games were picked up. I get Detroit CBS, NBC and ABC affiliates but not Fox for some reason.

  15. There is absolutely no reason to have a 162 game season.Cut the season to 82 games and make a 16 team playoff best of 7 for each series.

  16. I wish NFL+ would give the option of synching the radio feed with the video on replay. I would love to hear Dan Miller's call when I watch the replay after the game.

  17. What about aiming for lower? Broncos probably stripping down at the deadline too. I know Jefferson is the monster star... But what are thoughts on Jeudy or Courtland Sutton? Neither of whom would cost a 1st rounder or Jamo...

  18. That was the way we went. Just could not justify the price of Youtube TV plus Sunday ticket. I took the option of NFL +. With the audio only i can actually get a few things done around the house.

  19. The two leagues have not been separate business entities since, I believe, 2000? They both subsumed their business operation under Major League Baseball, so they could not, as you imply, expand or move teams on their own, or make their own rules. I put together a SABR presentation during which I learned that neither league could move teams without the general consent of their other league anyway until December 1952. They then went to a system that required no no input from the other league. It would be unanimous consent for an NL team to move, and a minimum 6-2 vote for an AL move. The idea of consent from the other league was dropped because they were basically killing off every move the other league wanted to make. That's a key reason there were no franchise moves between 1903 and 1952.

  20. Yes, it did air here. Since I've moved here the local Fox station always prioritized the Lions behind the Packers and Vikings. Now that the Lions are actually on the brink, local Fox might start airing Lions over Vikings. But I can't see them ever airing Lions over Packers no matter how good the Lions get.

  24. It will go to 16 teams, but there needs to be some incentive in winning the division. Maybe, they'll have more home games for the division winners. I don't really care anymore. I enjoy the regular season more and haven't even watched the playoffs yet this year.

  27. that "game" was....something. pistons starters got worked by the suns starters in all phases. they shot 85% from the field in the 1st quarter. the pistons did not. forget about the comeback, that was the pistons bench against the suns g-league reserves, with marvin and killian showing out against guys who will be playing in des moines next year. but since its our only real basketball to talk about, let's overreact! ausar cant shoot and it will be a problem. he can do everything else, though. and that will be fun to watch. beef stew built a house with all his bricks from 3. still undersized in the paint but still hustlin. solid role player material. speaking of roll...duren and cade are going to be good at it. marvin and killian loomed good at it too. wiseman still sucks. at everything. give me marvin over him any day, at least marvin can play a semblance of offense. wiseman just gets in the way. cade really needs to be consistent with his shooting. he looked in control on the dribble, finished well, but the shot just wasnt there outside of a small stretch against the suns bench. you have to start hitting those shots and you have to be the MAN or else this rebuild is doomed. ivey looked like ivey. made some outside shots. just watching the suns bury three after three while the pistons bricked shot after shot was disheartening.

  28. The best part about this win is that it was a blowout. Good and great teams are supposed to blow out bad teams, not play them close. This was a big step in that direction.

  30. 1st chili of the season here. I go with the tried and true crock pot rather than fire pit. As much as I hate to admit summer is going away, the chili did hit the spot with the daytime temperatures settling into 50s for a stretch here.

  38. I had such an unprecedentedly bad attitude about the team this year that I never bought TV or even radio to follow games. Not having the Tigers or all of you as a part of my life was an uncommon experience, and I hope this next season brings out the better more hopeful side of me, and the prospect of a better TV crew excites me. The way Harris cobbled the team together this year gives me hope, and I also hope that Riley Greene can stop getting hurt. I have never lived in Detroit, and I am only by the most generous definition of the term, even Detroitish from a distance. I usually hate the off-season and I might actually follow it this year. 40. Underappreciated in America gem from the late 70s. Top 10 in the UK. Never forgot this song. Andrew Gold was a great musician. By the way, this song, allegedly, is about Saturday Night Live's Lorraine Newman, who Gold met when Linda Ronstadt played on the show. He went back to L.A. and wrote this song about her.

  42. I get that we're only 4 games into the season but the Lions also closed last season strong and have the second best record in the NFL over the last 14 games. I remember last year when they won a few games in a row after that 1-6 start fans were like "lets see if they hang with Buffalo, if they do then I'll start to believe", well they hung with Buffalo, then it was "lets see them beat Minnesota", well they beat Minnesota, then if was "well lets see them win on the road in NY then I'll start to believe", they then won in NY. Finally it was "if they can beat the Packers in Lambeau then I'll start to believe it's different", then of course they did that. Then in the offseason it was "Lets see if they can hang with KC", well they not only hung with them but beat them, then it's "let's see if they can win in Lambeau again" and of course they went out and dominated there. I mean the skeptics just keep moving the goal post every week, it'll get to the point where fans will keep doing it until they win a Super Bowl and I think that's unfair. What they have done the previous 60 years shouldn't matter. If the franchise won 5 Super Bowls 20 years ago would that make this current team any better? No yet in those skeptic eyes for some reason it would.
