  1. Romad - I think it's a loss that you weren't around to write for 'Fractured Fairy Tales' 🤣

  3. Back when I was a kid, you had to be attentive to radio and/or TV every 10 minutes to listen for school closings/delays due to weather. You had to actually put effort into seeing if you were lucky to be snowed out. And if you missed the alphabetically organized listing, you had another 10 minutes of agony, waiting and hooping and praying that Mother Nature did sufficient damage to the local roadways. Nowadays, the school will call you and text you and email you, and damn near turn off your alarm clock for you, in order to notify you of such luck. Horsebleep.

  4. The entire album isn't out yet but there is another song I almost shared called hammer and nail. The lyrics are only well known phrases which I enjoyed, but could see some thinking it was tacky/countryish. Excited for the full album though

  5. This has to be a major talking point for the Democrats and those who oppose the former President. This statement is direct opposition to the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution. Nearly 250 years ago our forefathers started an insurrection against a king in opposition to these thoughts.

  6. "Kelly Stafford says her 5-year-old daughter “started crying on the field” over the treatment their family received from some fans at Ford Field before the Rams-Lions wild-card playoff game Sunday night. On Tuesday’s edition of her weekly podcast, the wife of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford said she and their four daughters — ages 3 to 6 — were subjected to loud boos from the stands as they tried to navigate their way between sidelines on the field before the game. “I had to explain to two of my daughters. Hunter started crying on the field,” Kelly Stafford said. “Listen, this is not everybody. This is the fans that are the loudest. ... But that’s sports. “But I will say one thing — we’re not playing the game. My girls and I are not playing the game. And I know my girls are not getting booed. I am. And I can handle it. But when I have my girls next to me there’s something to be said about maybe not.” I don't think she is able to handle it.

  7. So this made me wonder what the practice squad limits are and they turn out to be relatively narrow. The practice squad minimum and max for a 2 yr vet are $16,100/wk and $20,600/wk. That drops to 12k/wk for rookies. From there the jump to minimum roster salary is to $40k/wk ($750K season). So a vet elevated to a roster contract at least doubles his salary.

  8. YUP - this attitude - fatalism justified by religion - is a terrible drag on progress in every society where it is prevalent.

  9. Any time something that they don't like happens, they say it's God's will. If everything is God's will, what is the point of even trying in life?

  10. Basically, I'm exhausted by all this. If people do not see Trump for what he is at this point, I have zero patience for them as at BEST they are too stupid to function in society. At worst, they have evil in their hearts.

  12. Please, amplify this. Include a cartoon of who Rasputin was. Identify that he was stealing from the Czar the attention he deserved because the Czar was a television star with hit ratings. Stress that even though Czar Nicholas II was super handome and liked by every women he met, Rasputin tried to be more popular and that Melania was sleeping with Rasputin because she liked Rasputin better. Also, Czar Nicholas wasn't as rich as he claimed and would never be invited to a Met Gala.

  13. Re:Johnson: It amazes me that a person can get through college and law school with such deficient powers of logical analysis. If you believe in a completely interventionist/in control of everything supreme being as Johnson describes, then you can not possibly also believe in SIN, because sin requires free will and in a universe where God is pulling every string, there is no free will. It's a simple and absolute logical contradiction that any educated Greek in Athens 2500 yrs ago would have nailed in 30 seconds. LSU law school BTW.

  14. Bagley was fairly good on offense here. It was his defense that was the issue along with the injury problems.

  16. Why do we want to trade Hooker? Knock on every piece of wood in the two-mile radius, but although Goff has been very resilient in the last three years (owing in no small part to the offensive line), that is not the case league-wide. Aaron Rodgers, Anthony Richardson, Deshaun Watson, Daniel Jones, Kirk Cousins, Kyler Murray, Joe Burrow, Justin Fields, Justin Herbert, Ryan Tannehill, Jimmy Garrapollo, and Kenny Pickett all missed multiple weeks this season, and you could argue that a handful of those injuries substantially effected - if not totally derailed - their team's season. We have him on a four-year contract, and I would be willing to bet (and hope to lose the bet) that even if Goff signs a long-term extension, Hooker would be needed to start at least one game over the next three years. Rather than be relying on Tim Boyle or David Blough or [insert terribly mediocre backup here], I'd much rather be in a position to put our own version of Matt Cassel into the game, having been born and bred into the Lions' system, and then flip him when his value is highest. The board was ready to burst into flames before we signed Teddy Bridgewater, why do we now want to get rid of the next probably-at-least-decent backup for pennies on the dollar?

  17. The biggest indicator that he may actually be coming back to Michigan is that all indicators point to him going pro. Nobody seems to do the opposite of expectations quite like Jim Harbaugh.

  18. If Houston is anything like he was last year, this is going to be big. Imagine that 3rd and 16 the rams converted if the Lions had Houston and Hutchinson able to just go all out pass rush.

  19. What the hell did people expect fans to do. Come on, Stafford's a smart guy, he knew he'd get booed. Give me a break.

  20. It's common down there. "Favorite to sign" is a common euphemism for agreed to a contract before eligible.

  21. I don't think Lions even actually booed Stafford. They booed the Rams. It's not like a picture of Stafford was shown on the big screen, or his injury report appeared on the screen and people cheered. Not saying those things wouldn't have happened, the crowd was rabid. But still. Differentiating boos of the opposing team and boos of Stafford isn't possible.

  23. Well, you're talking about some of the "vulture financing" that exists... I don't know if that's good or bad... some companies are outmoded and dragging along each year and losing out to more modernized companies so... stripping them for value doesn't bother me too much. I mean... that sucks for the workers. But what bothers me even moreso, is when finance guys don't really have any idea what they've created (derivatives) and demand more supply for their monster so everyone says "Well **** the rules, and common sense"... With the Fed government just looking the other way. And then we have the Great Recession of 2008. "COCKY" and Finance do NOT go together very well.
