  1. Here is my seat for Sunday. 9th row of the 200 level, endzone. $650 + $100 taxes and fees = $750 all-in. Not cheap, but acceptable, and works out to about $15 per year amortized over the 50 or so years I’ve been watching crappy Lions football, lol.

  2. So surreal. Just two games next week, just four teams... and on of them is the Lions.

  8. All I'm going to say is the Lions better not lose on a sack fumble by Chase Young. Anybody but Chase Young.

  9. All the years we've posted here clowning on the ownership, the front office, the coaching, the players on the field, the mistakes, the bad draft picks, the getting boned by officiating and doing nothing. Now we get to celebrate this team here and it feels amazing to not be bitching, complaining, laughing, and shaking our heads for once.

  13. As I recall, Detroit started by featuring Montgomery into Mount Vea. That didn’t work so in the second half they spent more time attacking the edges with Gibbs. This also lets the team lean on Sewell’s athleticism. But clearly the Gibbs TD run broke the game open. Only a handful of RBs in the NFL are capable of scoring on that play.

  14. For the first time in the playoffs, the crowd will not be helping the Lions, which isn't insignificant. I think the Lions can win this game, but I expect that they won't. This is a house-money type game for me, though, so I'll much less nervous watching it compared to the other two.

  15. This might be only a me thing, but, here goes. When I am working out a situation in person or on the phone with a vendor—a rental car agency, for example—and they lay out what the situation is, I like to explain it back to them and have them answer yes or no to make sure I understand. Seems easy to me: "OK, let me play it back to you to see if I understand—this, then this, then that. Do I have that straight?" And they reply either yes that's right, or no this other thing instead. Then I play it back again with the correction to make sure I have it right, until we are both on the same page. Sounds logical and even easy, to me, anyway. Most of the time it works fine, but every once in a while, you get someone who simply can't do this, or who don't understand what I'm trying to do. I say, "Let me play this back to see whether I understand ...", I get one point into it, then they take over replaying part of the spiel and start introducing new information that didn't come out before. Then I say, "OK, let me see if I understand that ...", and I get one point into that, and then they say, no no no no you're not listening to me, and then start the whole thing all over again, perhaps with points they had made before now missing. Meanwhile, I'm going crazy because they're going all over the place and scrambling my understanding of the situation. It's maddening. It was even worse today because when I started explaining what I thought I understood, the rental car agent started talking over me, I was talking over her to ask her please, just listen to me and let me explain it to you so I understand, and she did not pause for even a beat from her obviously scripted spiel. As it turns out, when I finally did get through to her with my understanding of it, she had completely misunderstood both the return date and the return venue for the car. I imagine she was getting flustered and was retreating into the known spiel to anchor herself which, fine, I suppose I get that, but that doesn't help me understand the deal we're trying to work out. It had basically descended into a battle of wills. Some people apparently cannot effectively process changes on their feet. Everything they deal with has to fit neatly into whatever the spiel they learned is, or they withdraw or shut down. Those people should not have jobs facing customers.

  16. As Have you ever worked in a job where you were micromanaged? Did it make you a better worker? Hell no. It makes you constantly look over your shoulder and constantly try to be perfect and it sucks the joy out of what you do. You can't be you, you have to be someone else's version of you. Goff is having fun now and it shows (and yep, he's gonna make a "what the hell was he thinking?" play (got away with one of those early yesterday), but if he was constantly afraid to make a mistake, we wouldn't be here right now.

  20. Speaking of which, just saw this post on my twitter feed and cracked up. One of the best custom jerseys I have ever seen. Right up there with the Lions "Been Bad since" nameplate on a number 57 jersey.

  26. I think Bowles should have used it on 1st down. Once he didn't, than yeah run it out.

  27. Looking at some twitter posts about the situation and I guess it's one of those "unwritten rules" or codes that if you don't use the timeout on 1st down that is to tell your opponent that you aren't going to use it so they can just take the next 2 kneel downs quickly instead of milking the entire play clock. Assuming that's true that makes sense why the Lions snapped it so quickly and that Bowles didn't use it at the end. You can argue if it would've been worth it but if it is an unwritten code from coaches you probably don't want to be the one to break it......especially against a guy the size of Dan Campbell.lol

  29. Another defense that likes to blitz that's supposed to rattle Goff and the Lions hang 31 on them. They've now scored 30 or more points against Denver, Minnesota x2, and Tampa. All high blitzing defenses.

  30. Too late, they really screwed up their draft position by getting greedy for late-season wins.

  37. Same here. I think the Lions could beat them, but not getting to a Super Bowl because Green Bay beat us at home would be very difficult to take. Losing in SF, won't feel good, but not nearly as bad. Much of the country is rooting for the Lions now.

  38. So related to this.... At U of M, from time immemorial, classes *ended* on the hour, so that even though a class would be scheduled for 9:00am, it didn't really start until 9:10 because the class change time was built into the beginning of the hour instead of the end. The net result of this was that a culture of "10 minutes after" totally permeated everything else in Ann Arbor, to the point where the natives simply referred to appointments as being "on Michigan time", meaning don't expect to start until 10 after. Well, the Lord moves in mysterious ways because in 2018, TPTB at the U, for who knows why, finally decided to have classes actually start when listed and end at ten till. We live in a different city now.
