This game is about as perfect as they come. They scored six runs, Mize was good, the guys who aren’t normally hitting were hitting, and the guy I never heard of before, Kennedy, hits a homer. It’s almost like being Tobey Maguire in the first Spider-Man movie and learning the Kirsten Dunst actually likes you and you’re not stupid and you don’t turn her down because “with great power comes great responsibility.”2 points

Winning 12 out of 22 isn't bad at all. I would like just a slight improvement...13 out of every 22 for the rest of the year.2 points

I'm as certain as I can be that Craig Monroe has zero idea who Goo Goo Dolls and Spin Doctors are.2 points

I assume you mean where you bat the same nine guys? That's research they did a decade or two ago and that did come to the conclusion that stressing over batting order is overblown because the difference in run production is small as you say.2 points
-
Exactly. This was the Harris/Hinch stated strategy. They would have liked to have done it last year were it not for the 800-pound gorilla.2 points

Age, injuries and the difficulty of pitching enough innings to get a win makes it a steep climb. If anyone can do that its Verlander.2 points

There's a new Steve Martin documentary on Apple. I haven't watched it yet but there is a part where he talks about John Candy and TPA Here's the script from the cut scene...1 point

Casey Mize is adjusting very nicely after TJ. Much better than Fulmer and Turnbull.1 point

First you complain that he hits into too many double plays. Now you are mad that he didn't put the ball in play!1 point

Ironic since he just wants you to know who I am and he likes to talk for hours.1 point

I mean cricket the game, not Cricket the It's Always Sunny character. 😉1 point

Colt looks OK with the glove, I see whether he ends up a 2B or 3B as a secondary issue to whether he can get his bat going!1 point

Dan had Craig's stupidity under control. Jason feeds into the moronic issues. Base hit for the Tigers and the announcers are busy talking about phone chargers. Who the hell cares? Get these washed up jocks outta the booth.1 point

Surprisingly (at least it surprised me) the difference between a mediocre and optimal line up is probably only 10 runs or 1 win per year. No real reason not to have high OBP hitters batting more often, but you can bat your Don Kelly types second every once in a while. Sometimes they'll homer in game 5 versus the Yankees.1 point

I think I’d like to see him at one spot as well. 2B full time until he’s ready to move to 3B full time or 2B full time. He has a history of needing time to warm up once promoted. Give him the stability on defense to get his bat up to speed.1 point

Hinch is just giving Tork a partial day off. He'll be back at 1st base for the next 20 games. (Or longer). It's why we don't have a full time DH. To rotate guys getting a rest.1 point
-
It’s not as though Tork is tearing it up at the plate, either. Would we really want him to be full-time DH? Do we want anyone to be full-time DH?1 point

It’s easier to scoop on MLB field where there are almost no bad bounces and the ball is predictable.1 point

The MLB page is ridiculous with constant hypothetical projections and ‘what ifs’ on a daily basis. I pretty much gave up on the stuff.1 point

Hope whoever replaces him at 1B can scoop as many bad throws as he is capable of.1 point

This should be Tork's new role. Brutal week in the field. 11-10 is so much better than the last few years 8-13 2023 7-14 2022 7-14 2021 9-12 2020 But don't you feel like in the last week they booted away 3 games, Team, even if you get conservative on the booting thing should be 13-8 right now. It's so frustrating. By the way, the last time they started out 11-10 they wound up losing 114 games that season (2019), so there's that.1 point

LOL at the Republic Party negotiating themselves out of border security and Ukraine funding and into just Ukraine funding. Incredible use of leverage.1 point

I wasn't really expecting the infield defense to be particularly strong. We knew Torkelson had problems, Keith was an unknown, Urshela is average, Baez is good. Having Greene and Meadows in the outfield is definitely a plus.1 point

It will make more sense when Gores reveals that his choice for new President of Basketball Operations is Blake Griffin.1 point

I definitely think it will be. At whatever point we are peaking, we'll probably have something like five or six everyday guys who will get spelled maybe once every ten or so games, and six or so guys to rotate regularly among the other two or three slots.1 point

Is there a vote tally out there? I'm curious where my rep voted. Edit, I see from his twitter he voted in favor, but used it to trash Biden's border policy, which is odd considering how that went down last month.1 point

Even with players moving around, they will eventually get to 'know' each other, but it will take longer. Wenceel did get into 16 ST games, but it looks like mostly in center, so possibly he had never played next to or had a called ball situation with Parker.1 point

With instant replay...Tigers woulda won. Inge was hit by that pitch. 😡😡1 point

In memory of Brian Bluhm. 17 years ago on April 16, 2007- we lost a treasured friend and member who was killed at Virginia Tech. ”And when great souls die, after a period peace blooms, slowly and always irregularly. Spaces fill with a kind of soothing electric vibration. Our senses, restored, never to be the same, whisper to us. They existed. They existed. We can be. Be and be better. For they existed.” – Maya Angelou RIP, Brian.1 point
