  1. If somebody is calling for Hinch or Harris's head, that's likely an instant unfollow/mute/block for me. My timeline is much more clean these days. It's healthy to seek out opposing views sometimes, but the passive nature of social media scrolling means it is important to prune, IMO.

  3. According to my crystal ball, Trump will be found guilty, he will be released on his own recognizance pending sentencing, he will immediately high-tail it to Florida, and DeSantis will refuse to extradite him to New York state. After that Trump will appear only in friendly states that will refuse to extradite him. The Great Chasnac has spoken.

  6. To me, it's less haters. It's more, I am trying to avoid passively consuming misinformation. It's honestly why I unfollowed a lot of Tigers prospect twitter, because if you just follow those people, a few years ago you would think Brock Deatherage would have 100 career MLB homers by now. I'd go so far to say the flowery types are even more of a niusance.

  7. I’m going to reference something that only very old people here (like me) might get the reference… The Firesign Theater comedy group had some great bailiff quotes that are coming back into my memory bank lately. I actually thought of one after the E. Jean Caroll case that was totally appropriate. That is all I’m sharing 🙂

  9. kat is probably the best player we can get for our cap space. and he would work nicely with cade. cade seems to have that "give me the ball in the 4th quarter" mentality that kat lacks. kat seems like chris webber. a better #2 than #1 but immensely talented. i still think minny will get better offers but if its ONLY cap space maybe we have a chance. other teams might be able to free some space up in complicated deals.

  10. I don't think it should take five years from now, or even from August 2022, for us to finally become competitive. My original thought was that if we are not competing for a playoff spot, if not Central title, by 2025, something is going wrong, and I will stick with that.

  12. That is at least a play-in team IMO. Maybe even 5th/6th seed depending on coaching.

  13. I don't love it but I don't hate it when compared to the other stars that might get traded (Lavine, Ingram, etc). Yes, he's soft as hell, but that's less of an issue now that he plays mostly PF instead of Center. He'd also be a really nice spacing fit next Cade. His defense has improved a lot, but then again I'm not sure he'll give that kind of effort on a losing team. Not sure I'd burn all the cap for it, but maybe a large portion of it. However much the TWolves need to get just under that second apron. You need the rest of that money to make a couple more moves. Bring in Claxton and make a hard push, including Ivey/Duren and a future first to get Mikal. Cade/Sasser? Mikal/Grimes Tech/Ausar KAT/Stew Claxton/Stew

  14. There's people calling for his head after just 1 1/2 years? One draft? Get back to me in 3 more years. We can't be firing our GM every two years. And I thought I was impatient...

  15. We really have too few technically informed people in the US gov. Ukraine has started going after Russian refining capacity in a big way - some reports say they have disabled 15% of Russia's refining capacity. That may not sound that high but nobody leaves excess refining capacity around - it's too expensive, so capacity tends to match demand very closely - thus even a moderate reduction in capacity creates shortages. But the US - apparently in it's official ignorance, has complained to Ukraine that they don't want them to do that because it will push up oil prices. Except that if one user can't refine oil, you have reduced crude oil demand - that means MORE crude oil is left for the world market, not less, which means crude oil prices do not go up when you disable Russian refineries. 19. The pitching and Greene are better than expected and the hitting is worse. There are still a lot of question marks on the team. The durability of the staff is an issue because of past injuries and because of injuries their potential workload is also an issue. How many innings will the young starters be able to handle? The hitters are young and unproven with minimal experience. The depth looks pretty good though with multiple players having some potential. Harris needs to continue adding to that depth to create competition and protect against injury and lack of performance.

  22. Do not really agree (just my opinion). Yes, true to turn around the infrastructure ex facilities, player development, scouting, tech used, etc. Not true for the MLB team. He has inherited 'some' talent. He has in place good pitching (though there will be some injuries, of course to ALL teams). Too me SHarris needs to show that he can acquire a strong bat or two via trade or FA. This has nothing to do with how many years on the job. Regardless of 1 year or 5, he needs to show that 'he can make a deal, that he has the ability and/or the art of negotiating a solid deal for a hitter or two'... Yes, scouting has to help and say 'here is a list' - but it does not take 5 years to do that. He could do that anytime between now and say 1-2 years - my Q is, like DD could or unlike AA could not - can SHarris do this? The Tigers may or may not contend this year. IMHO, they could. However, if SHarris does not have the ability to make 'some' things happen, it will not matter if it this year (he can swing a trade at anytime) or in 5 years. Every GM (this includes JGreenberg) /CEO has to have the ability to negotiate some solid deals - or they will simply be short lived in that position (even if after 5 years ex AA, yet he did have strengths in other areas). If the man in charge can show that he can negotiate deals, ex like DD, they will get several career chances either with one or several organizations. Quite simple really. We shall see.

  23. The team is precisely where I thought they would be... What was the conventional wisdom going in? At best a few games over .500 and bank on a weak division. It's frustrating because it doesn't seem to be asking for a lot to have expected a much better record if just a few guys had gotten a few more key hits. But... maybe the hitters just aren't that good and the way you find that out is to let them play.

  27. Five years is too long. There's room to add salary (although it wasn't a good free agent offseason). The pitching is already competitive. There are a few hitters to work with currently. I can understand going through some of the prospects to see what's there. But at some point they need to improve the offense, and it shouldn't take five years.

  31. Every run counts the same. Without looking it up , I'll guess no pitcher in MLB history has thrown for full season with a zero ERA. You can hope for shutouts from starters and and perfect innings from relievers but if you count on them you're gonna be in hurt. When you go 6 innings at a time without scoring a run you're going to lose a lot of games.

  35. It's funny, I always hear about the guys in the draft who are "definitely a Heat guy" and I think, "well, why not just draft that guy?" It happened with Bam, Jovic to some extent, Jaquez, and now I'm hearing Devin Carter. 3 and D combo guard who is tough as nails, gets compared to Bruce Brown, and who's in the Heat mold? Sounds like a better fit next to Cade than Ivey already. He's 6'3" with a 6'7" wingspan, so yes, one of Ivey/Sasser/Grimes has to get moved, but let's be honest, we're all talking about doing that already. Maybe test the waters on Jeremy Grant since Portland should want to get off that contract they signed before Lillard left. Do a pick swap, take on Jeremy's contract, send over Fournier's expiring, and maybe a young prospect like Sasser or Grimes. Portland gets a high pick to build alongside Scoot and they get free of Grant's money. Pistons add a starting caliber PF who can shoot and defend as well as a 22 year old 3 and D guard who can play next to Cade (or off the bench if you keep Ivey). You still have Ivey/Duren as trade assets along with about 40M in free money to make trades and/or go after free agents such as Claxton/Hartenstein, Trent Jr, Oubre, etc. Just spit-balling here because who knows what Portland wants to do with Jeremy, but Omari and Bryce discussed a trade for Grant where we gave up even less because it's essentially a "sin contract" right now.

  37. Because he's given you 8 bases in the last 3 games. No-one in the system other than Riley can do what Torkelson can do at any time the switch flips for him, so you give him more rope than anyone else in the system short of Riley. Even with his head screwed on wrong right he is still hitting doubles. In Keith's case, his AB are pretty good, he's having absolutely terrible BaBIP luck. His expected BA is 240, which ain't great but passable for a 2B you need to let develop. Meadows needs mechanical work on his swing, he was swinging under everything. That's a good task to do in the minors, plus Perez is playing well so far.
