  1. First Italian ice of the season today. When my dad was alive, we’d hit this place in March. Even when he couldn’t remember my name, he still knew where we were when we pulled up to this place. Had lemon ice today, in your memory, Dad.

  2. I went to the game yesterday and there were as many Tigers fans as DBacks fans! It was pretty awesome to see our boy live again. My record is now 9-0 seeing the Tigers live!

  4. I added Wenceel Perez to my fantasy team last night which pretty much guarantees he'll start to suck. Don't worry though. I'll eventually drop him and he'll proceed to go on a tear. Just wanted to make sure you know what to expect for the next couple of weeks.

  5. My wife’s grandmother was well into Alzheimer’s when I came around. But I could tell she was a sweetheart when she had her wits about her because she’d ask you how you were doing and wish you Happy New Year no matter what day it was. She also know at Thanksgiving when her wine glass was empty and to simply hold it up and say quite matter of factly “mine’s empty”.

  6. Player (and agent) greed really turns me off. Offer him a fair contract to make him and his family rich for life and if he turns it down, let him walk. We have a few good SP coming up soon.

  16. My Dad loved ice cream and coffee. When he was in the hospital with a heart attack at the age of 96 we asked a nurse if he could get a little of each, which he wasn’t supposed to have. The nurse (so many wonderful ones out there) went to the staff fridge/breakroom and got him a small helping of each. Had to take the oxygen mask off for it, but he enjoyed that little treat. He died a few weeks later.

  19. Honestly, I have been a bit hesitant with Jace mainly because that odd stance I worried about high velocity stuff but honestly have been highly impressed with him. High OBP with some power I'd love to have that batting 2nd in the lineup.

  20. I’m sure you’re correct and I agree having both is outstanding. I think we got McMonigle with money saved from passing on Langford. Not sure if that’s correct but in my mind it was two for one.

  21. That was pretty hilarious! There was a ton of jawing between innings and it was getting pretty heated for a bit!

  22. Seems quite an aggressive haul for a half season of a pitcher on a reclamation contract, albeit he is pitching very well.

  24. Would I throw years at Skubal to keep him around into the next decade? Hmmm … Throwing years at pitchers almost never ends well. As it turns out, with Boras at the helm, it’s a near certainty we don’t get a chance to extend him before he goes on the market anyway.

  26. A friend of mine was at the Fox show and is photographed fist bumping him as he walked off the stage. He was able to contact the photographer to get a print of it to frame for his house. So sad. Not long after that he’s gone. He texted me after the show. He only got one ticket so I couldn’t go. I went to bed. In the morning I saw he was gone. So surreal. this song was my favorite of the entire era and movement and they wer my favorite band. More so than blackhole sun.

  27. The Tigers are one of only 23 teams since 1995—the beginning of the current home run era—to score 21 runs across two games without hitting a home run, and the first to do so since 2013.

  28. There is. But again the difference is when you imply that your choice to do that makes you a better person than the one who didn’t choose to do that. Saying “I want to do this” is not the same thing as “you should do this and you won’t be truly fulfilled unless you do” which is what kicker boy was doing. Why is this confusing?

  32. I agree. He does call the action well and I like it when he challenges his partner when they give a hollow ex jock comment. He does come up with a great line once in a while, most of his humor does fall flat. He definitely forces it too much.

  33. He does a lot of jokes about pop culture. He made a remark about a Stephen King book several games ago and Craig laughed. I guarantee Craig had no idea what Jason meant.

  36. I think you may be underestimating Clark's speed, defense and hit tool. If McGonigle can stay at SS I would say it would be a harder conversation but that is not a guarantee. Clark's biggest concern is power which is understandable but that being said he's something like 10/10 on SB and has a .362 OBP at a premium defense position. Either way I'm glad they are both Tigers.

  37. It's just not that hard to let people be. It's a bit odd historically - the original of the three 'Abrahamic' religions doesn't proselytize at all - Jews have never been interested in forcing other people to convert to Judisam, though they will welcome you if you do. Christianity and Islam both missed the boat on that part of the inheritance.

  38. The difference is you both made the choice for yourselves and didn’t need and shouldn’t have had anybody else deciding that path or making comments on what you chose to do and why. His comments reek of “let me tell you what’s best for you…” and that’s where the insult occurs. Just keep your mouth shut about what women should do. It’s none of your business. And totally unrelatable coming from a pro athlete raised by a mom with an andvanced degree. And it’s not just men who do this. Women struggle with other women making judgements on their choices. Those who want to work are judged for not putting their kids first or for not even having kids. Those who stay home are judged for “just” doing that. Once my wife was asked “oh you have to work?” In a very snide way at a chick gathering not long after our kids were born. She said “I’m sure we could make it work but I enjoy getting out 2-3 days a week using my degree and being around adults”. We saw that same lady about 15 years later at a 40th birthday for the mutual friend. She was divorced.

  39. I think injuries are the most common reason why players - even young players - have slumps. I also think staying healthy is one of the most important skills a player can have. If one player has a slump because he is out of it mentally (also a skill) or because of random variation instead of an injury, it's still the same result. Lets say Cabrera's slumps were due to injuries as you say (and you are probably right). That doesn't make him any better than another hitter who slumps for other reasons. It's still a bad overall performance. The sum of his skills at the end of his career were not helping the team. As for Ibanez facing a RHP, Cabrera was hurt as often as Ibanez faced a RHP the last few years!

  41. both guys pitching well, but still, you have an ump giving away 6" outside again and it makes it almost impossible for the hitters if the pitchers are even close to good.
