The point about not just voting for the person but the administration is an important one. Biden is old, he is frail, like most old people he's slowing down in old age. But with maybe one or two exceptions, his cabinet is top notch and filled with people who, at the end of the day, are capable of administering this government. Trump, on the other hand, will likely be stocking his cabinet with the likes of Stephen Miller, Mike Davis, Devin Nunes, etc.... not only would I not trust any of those guy to run a three car funeral procession (let alone the government), when you listen to their words, they are dangerous as well. Not only will they not guard against Trump's worst impulses, they will fan those flames. It's a tough sell as a mass message to the general voting public, of course, but it doesn't make it any less true.2 points

In 13 starts he has allowed 3 runs or more only 3 times. And in 6 of those 2 runs or fewer. As a 4th or 5th starter that works.2 points

I grew up in Michigan, left for the Army after HS, went to college after the Army in Boca Raton, FLA and lived 19 years in S Florida and 20 in New Jersey after that, as of this year... It amazes me that people look at me after talking to them for a few minutes (after just meeting them, no matter south FL or Jersey) and they say: "Oh, you're from Michigan, aren't you?" WTF? I have an accent?1 point

While I think Cruz has turned into a sycophant for Trump I don't think a video of him clapping a few extra seconds is really that newsworthy or bad. I think the bigger issue is Trump insulted the way the guys wife looks and he sat their and took it like a bitch, not the length of how long he clapped for Trump.1 point

“Running commercials on Bally of an old couple wearing face paint to games is the last thing they should be doing if you’re trying to make the game more relevant and appealing to a younger, more diverse audience.” ——— Winning is what will make a difference at the gate. Eight year rebuilds probably don’t get younger fans excited. Until this organization can put a couple of winning and competitive seasons on the field, I don’t think things will change much at the gate.1 point

I never really have an opinion on who they draft. I love reading about them and speculating, but I don't think we can really project these guys especially after the first two picks.1 point

It flies under the radar because of the Milwaukee comments, but Trump's idea of replacing the income tax with jacking up tariffs is such a terrible idea, honestly one of his worst. Like, isn't the goal of tariffs to reduce imports? If you're reducing imports, you are going to gradually bring in less in tariffs which, in turn, would lead to less government funding. Which means cuts to government programs that everyday Americans take for granted and higher prices for everyday Americans on consumer goods. I doubt it would happen even if he won, it's too looney tunes for the business wing of his party, but it's a real illustration about how little he understands policy.1 point

I would still rather have a pitcher with a 0.89 WHIP and K's 7.4 per 9 and walks 3 per 9, who keeps runners off the bases for the most part, rather than a pitcher with a 1.39 WHIP even if he K's 11 per 9 and walks only 3 per 9. WHIP works fine and dandy for me. It may even include nice groundball rates, avg. EV's, etc... But I find it to be a great one-stop shop number that tells me all I need to know. If a guy is consistently between 0.90 and 1.10 WHIP year after year, and another guy is consistently 1.28-1.48 WHIP every year, I choose the lower WHIP guy. I don't need to look at anything else. Simple. And an easy choice.1 point

I think the shrinking of the minors has affected things more than expected. When they shrank the amount of players you could have and got rid of the short-season leagues it removed spots for some of the AAAA pitchers that used to fill the upper minors. When you have a limited set of players you can have as an org you will probably save more for spaces for players with untapped potential rather than a 28-29 year old journeyman.1 point

Maton and Sands didn't work out. Vierling has. And Soto has returned to his over 5+ BB9 neighborhood. An everyday player in exchange for a volatile LHRP? I'll take that trade. Candelario was a decision that could have gone either way. They released him and he had a good season which culminated in a multiyear deal which has started out well. I'd have brought him back for his last arbitration season, but I understand that decision wasn't exactly a slam dunk. It happens. The relationship between Turnbull and the Tigers had soured to the point where he wasn't coming back. He hadn't had enough recent production to where he was a tradable commodity. So, he was released or non tendered. In terms of the transaction, it is what it is. Whatever happened behind the scenes, we don't and likely won't know for certain.1 point

I like the lineup today. I know we don't have a true leadoff, 3 spot, or cleanup hitter, but this could work. It's criminal that Keith has more than twice the ABs as Ibanez. Nice to get some production out of Kreidler and Malloy. Keep it up!1 point

I understand that Eduardo Rodriguez is a sensitive soul who hurts sometimes, but that doesn’t mitigate the fact that he ****ed over the team in a wholly unprofessional manner on multiple occasions, so he was a d*** as well.1 point

Absolutely no one I know who is a feminist or an LGBTQ+ friend feels this way. Maybe it’s a regional thing. Might also be my particular age group. While there is dismay concerning the number of obvious innocents who have been killed in this situation, most recognized that Hamas cannot be appeased nor negotiated with. They are disease. They, and their hateful rhetoric are what has prevented a free Palestine. So, I will have to respectfully disagree with your assessment.1 point

I want them to keep him as long as they can. You normally don't get better trading a candidate for CY Young to get a bunch of prospects. I would like to see the Tigers fire Hinch, actually try to put a competent team on the field, and keep their best players. The last year the Tigers were competitive was 2016. It seriously should not take 3 presidential cycles for a team to stop sucking in modern baseball. This ownership is unable or unwilling to put a decent product on the field, so I don't see any other option than for the Tigers to trade Skubal, probably at the all star break next season. They are really trying hard to get normal people to not care about the team.1 point

Yes. Greene -LF , Verling -CF , Perez- RF , Rogers - C, Canha- 1B, Keith/Ibanenz- 2B ( platoon) Kreidler -SS (just let him sink or swim and his glove is way way better than McKinstry) Urshela- 3B DH - Mallory/Badoo(platoon) -NEVER let them in the field. This is the best defensively and the tiny advantage of platooning and moving players is more than off set by the improved defense of not doing that. Even in the platoon at second both players are playing the SAME position.1 point

i don't think anyone could honestly argue that Biden hasn't gotten physically frailer, but TBH, I don't care about that, it's not a prerequisite to do the important parts of the job well. Shrub was healthy as a horse, he was a disastrous president. To me the only place it figures in the calculation is wrt whether he lives out his second term, but even on the grounds that Harris is a largely unwritten story, i'd still vote for her even up over Trump or anyone Trump is likely to picks as a VP so even there, it doesn't weight negatively on the scale. When I look at the operation of the Biden administration, I don't see any lack of vision, consistency. I don't see idiosyncratic actiions, senseless windmill tilts, or other evidence of an erratic hand at the tiller - so that's what I have to go by.1 point

Sorry I'm so late to answer your question. The 3rd base coach has more than one thing to relay to the runner coming in as well as any other runner approaching 2nd. Unfortunately, he only has 2 hands. Generally, if the runner needs to slide, he will be using both hands to indicate a slide and to which side of the bag. If a slide is not necessary, the left hand will be raised to indicate a stop at third with or without rounding the bag. The right hand will be pointing to where the ball is or where it is heading. If there is a second runner heading toward second, often the coach will be looking at that runner to insure he is catching the signals he is giving. So, as you can see the 3rd base coach has multiple duties all at the same time. Hope this helped.1 point

I’m still haven’t been convinced by anyone the last year or so who exactly Harris should have signed or traded for (and with that?). There isn’t a GM store with items you need. You can’t trade a lot of crap for something mediocre.1 point
