  1. We enjoy minor league ball more so than MLB. We traversed to Alabama less than two weeks ago to see the minor league game at Rickwood Field as well as a game in Montgomery. We’re headed for Myrtle Beach and Charleston, SC for games this week. Seeing different minor league parks & teams is enjoyable.

  2. My only wish from those demanding Biden step aside is that they recognize the reality that there is no Plan F, Netflix scenario with a contested convention and Gretchen Whitmer emerging. Kamala Harris, for a variety of practical reasons, is the next available option. Those who make the demands while ignoring her presence are hard to take seriously. And frankly, a lot of supposedly serious people (and now editorial boards) are doing that.

  5. What a total misread. Johnson didn't withdraw because it was 'popular' he withdrew because he didn't want to be embarrassed by losing the nomination in a party that wanted the war over (or alternately splitting the party so badly he couldn't win). Johnson was at the end of his rope over Vietnam - he had no idea what to do next and everyone, including LBJ, realized he was paralyzed. He knew if he pulled the plug the US public - the voting public that had won WWII, would never accept a 'loss' (which in 68 was absolutely still the case), but he also was figuring out that the DOD had no idea how to win either.

  8. Plus they seem like they care that there are fans there. MLB has a certain arrogance when it comes to fans, like we are lucky they exist and should thank them for allowing us to spend $100+ to watch a terrible product. But yea, the team sucks but now you watch them suck from upgraded seats. Minor league games have all sorts of give aways, stuff between innings, etc Just a lot better experience.

  9. Going to minor league games is definitely more fun for me. I am not emotionally invested in the teams and don't care who wins, but the environment is usually more enjoyable.

  10. How many of those are on this forum and are anti Biden and anti Goff? I swear I've dealing with bots getting ya'll to see the light.

  11. Playing this out fully. If Biden is considered not capable of running for re-election, what the hell is he doing serving as President? Taking it a step farther, if Biden (Joe or Jill) decide he's unable to continue to govern, Harris becomes President. She'll have to nominate a Vice President, that must be approved by a majority of both houses of Congress. This happened with Nixon and Agnew. That was 50 years ago. I just can't see today's Congress, especially the kindergarten called the House of Representatives, approving anyone Harris would nominate tossing the executive branch and country further into crisis mode.

  12. I think there was only a foul ball he couldn't get to. I don't remember any hit to him. Maybe a base hit right at him. He was replaced defensively by Baddoo so....

  13. Yeah the biggest thing he's missing is the plus command that he was supposed to have. You can get away without having great swing and miss stuff in the zone as long as you can consistently stay ahead in the count and use a mix of pitches to keep hitters off balance and get swings and misses on pitches out of the zone. The problem is Mize doesn't have the command to locate well enough within the zone yet to consistently induce takes and get ahead in the count. And then when he will get into 0-2 and 1-2 counts he will throw a couple breaking pitches that are a foot out of the zone so it's just an easy take for the hitter.

  18. What bothers me is watching for 7 or 8 innings and then watching our BP blow it. Especially these west coast games. Deep into the night, into the early morning hours. Makes me not want to watch any more . NFL training camp starts in a few weeks. Just sayin'.... 😆

  19. Following this team right now is like dressing up in a turkey outfit, and putting your head on the stump and awaiting your execution. Even if it doesn’t happen today, it’ll happen tomorrow.

  20. The NY Times are still butt hurt that Biden won’t recognize their “importance”. The NYT are nothing more than literary critics sending papers back and forth to each other in a circle jerk. Serves no functional purpose in society and solves no problems.

  21. He's no HOF intellect, either, since he doesn't appear to realize that there is a fertile middle ground between knowing 100% what a pitcher is going to throw, which is impossible, and completely guessing or even thinking about what the pitcher is going to throw, which is impractical.

  22. Put another way, if this is going to happen, it stands to reason that the campaign is going to think through every possible angle... They don't have the luxury of acting out of pure emotion like the NYT Editorial Board does.

  25. Pizza! Pizza! Yeah, it’s embarrassing. It would be nice if it was an authentic celebration spontaneously emerging from within the chemistry of the team instead of some corporate death march impersonating a celebration.

  29. He was suspended for a bit a couple of years back as I recall for making some stupid comment about an Asian player by being disrespectful to the pronunciation of the dialect. I also read some comments he made post employment that I thought were in poor taste regarding his employer.

  30. It's worth something. They need to know if he learned anything and whether he is part of their future. They came into the season with three young players with something to prove (Tork, Keith, meadows) and so far they have proved little.

  32. From The Hockey News: https://thehockeynews.com/whl/players/2024-nhl-draft-profile-ondrej-becher After being passed over in the last two drafts, Becher is projected to finally hear his name called by an NHL team. The Czechian winger had a season to remember, recording 96 points in 58 games while also representing his country at the 2024 World Juniors. A player who has an impact on the game at both ends of the ice, he has developed into an intriguing prospect this season. Before discussing his offensive ability, Becher's defensive game needs to be recognized. He is excellent at blocking shots and creates turnovers at a high rate. As for his positioning, Becher understands where he needs to be at all times, making it a frustrating task for the opposition to try and generate chances when he is on the ice. As for the offensive zone, Becher thrives with the puck on his stick. While he can score, he is a high-end playmaker who can set up teammates in scoring positions. Becher is also a master in the transition game, as he knows whether the best option is to pass the puck off to a teammate or carry it into the offensive zone himself. The biggest knock against Becher is his age. While most players are just turning 18, Becher is already 20 and is only now bursting onto the scene. He arguably should be ranked higher, but the fact that this is Becher's third draft may see him fall further than he should. If Becher continues to develop, he has the potential to be a middle-six forward at the NHL level who can help out on special teams. As for the draft, he is projected to be selected after the third round and, most likely, before the fifth. One of the most well-rounded players available, he has the potential to light up the WHL once again if he returns for the 2024-25 campaign.
