Most RBIs for a Tigers catcher since Freehan! Parrish didn’t do it. Not a knock on Lance but it emphasizes how rare this is.2 points

Nice 3-inning outing by Wentz actually... No runs, 3 K's. He hasn't had too many of those...2 points

Javy has around a .700 OPS the past few weeks, honestly if he could just maintain something close to that next year it would really help this team.2 points

I feel for the players but not for one second do I feel for the Vikings or their loser fans. **** them. This makes it easier for two more crucial dubs for the Blue and Silver and that is all that matters to me.1 point

Hillsdale is also Toledo media market; Monroe isn't, although the southern portion of the county probably has access to TV stations. Granted, Hillsdale is significantly more red than Lenawee or Monroe so probably less of an effect there. Either way, people would be surprised, but margins can actually swing in border counties based on TV Market Advertising... probably less so with a Presidential election than a Governors race or a primary, but it isn't insignificant either if you're trying to reach every single voter. I didn't see it listed, but South Bend media market would be another one that's probably worth throwing a few dollars at even though it's in Indiana.... decent population base along the border in those counties as well1 point

See...I don't agree about players missing months per season because of injury as "normal." Carpenter has been out since May. Riley just made it thru 100 games for the 1st time. We can't have players, who we count on, missing this much time if we hope to compete. Yes, depth would be nice but how many quality players will sign with a team to sit on the bench in case of injury? And how many quality players is it possible to stash in the minors? I said before the season that Riley had to stay healthy for a few years to shake the injury prone label. He made it 100 games...1 point

Fangraphs posted an article today about teams records against everybody else but the White Sox. Interesting enough we'd only be a few games of KC and the last wild card spot in that scenario. Really the only difference between us and them is that they are 12-1 against the White Sox and were "only" 5-1. If the schedules were different and we played them 13 times by this point and KC played them 6 we very well could be sitting right where their at in the last WC spot.1 point

I like the deterministic nature of this except we don't have enough data. We all need to test marry one -- Honey don't worry, its for science -- and see if it improves our ability to hit secondary and tertiary pitches at the MLB level. Casting calls for MTF poster test subject wives will be held next Monday through Thursday. This experience will convey one credit hour for a community college of your choice.1 point

I would personally invest in Traverse City since that area is moving left. They may already be. It’s about cutting into the margins up north. Alpena is probably cheap. This was the same tactic Benson had. She put ads all over the state and not just the blue areas.1 point

I don't mind Carpenter in the outfield, he's made some nice throws from right. If Meadows can hit enough to play center, and Greene is in one of the corners, I'd like to see guys like Carpenter and Malloy put on a glove and get out there and improve, especially Malloy, in a corner.1 point

This thread is probably the most cogent retelling of how we got here, from a position where Biden was down 2-3 to where Harris is now up 2-3 in national polling. And here is the upshot: People speculate about a "honeymoon", but I don't know why anyone that previously was indicating "undecided" or "third party" and is now indicating "Harris" would suddenly flip back or flip to Trump. She still has a lot of work to do, but the gains that she has made here seem mostly to be base consolidation.... beware commentators who attribute this to a "sugar high"1 point

Perhaps an example of Harris picking up a player whose skill set comports with what it is we are trying to do offensively. It's probably easier to pick up players from outside who have the skill set to take in the coaching we're putting across than it is to try to retrofit players who have been in the system so long they were shaped by the prior coaching and can;t adapt to the new ways. Not referring to anything I've seen you say, but this is a big reason why I believe we should give Harris more time.1 point

I'm not a person that pines for the good old days. But this is the one aspect that is really depressing to me. It really should be embarrassing for anyone to support this scumbag. And it is such a measure of the increasing acceptance of incivility on our society that there are media servers that will even put this out. Of course if Trump is Exhibit 1 with the media, Elon is 1A with the medium.1 point

There are analytics for this kind of thing. This guy uses an algorithm to create the “Adjusted Games Lost” statistic. It accounts for injuries, including those who get a “questionable” tag and still play, and gives more weight to projected starters and more important positions like QB. It’s likely not perfect, but by his measures we were middle of the pack last year. 13th most fortunate on offense, 24th most fortunate on defense, for 18th overall. Luckiest in the league was the Rams. Unluckiest were the Texans. As an aside, I would expect the Lions to sustain more injuries in camp than most because of how physical Campbell runs things.1 point

This evening I get to view BP from the field. Got to do it last year and got Miggy's autograph. This year can't top that but it's still fun to be down there listening to them all talk and such. They show the launch angle and exit velocity and it's easy to figure out what you need to do for a HR.1 point

Audacy also owns WINS AM & FM, an all newser as well. (Think of the old WMAQ, give us 20 minutes). I just looked at the ratings and they're holding up well in NY. Not sure how WBBM and WWJ are doing, but as long as there is significant revenue they may survive to fight a bit longer. However when your stock is hovering around a dime a share. Full transparency, my wife managed the WBBM newsroom from the mid '90s until late 2000. She also managed WWJ's newsroom from Dec 2000 to about 2010. I did traffic for WBBM for several years while we were in Chicago.1 point
