Completing my 30 or so “remember to vote” postcards to targeted Latina Florida voters… to be mailed Oct 9th -Oct 14th. #Momsvote #LatinasVotan. This is a non-partisan project. My part is just to jot a very brief, generic “make a plan to vote” message. 🙂4 points

Howard Dean paid a far higher price for way less as far as I'm concerned3 points

Regardless of if Skubal pitched game 1 or game 2, we still have to win 3 of the 5 games in the series….2 points

I had the privilege of watching this mess in person and just got back from the game. I won't say much about the game itself, as you guys have already covered all the bases. Let's just say Michigan's play was as ugly in person as it would have looked on TV. I did allow myself to be deluded into thinking at halftime that Michigan, thanks to Tuttle, would roll them in the 2nd half and win somewhat comfortably. So just two comments: - Husky Stadium is a beautiful venue. During most of Michigan's offensive series, it was more appealing to turn my head away from the field and look out towards Lake Union - Boy were there a lot of obnoxious Michigan fans. You'd think the scoreboard and performance would quiet them or slow them down a bit, but nope. I had a Michigan alum from the '70s on one side of me and a U-W season ticket holder on the other side of me, both of whom were great and had game-long conversations with both, but all of us were cringing every few minutes over the Michigan contingent that dominated several rows in our section2 points

Actually, you should get less, if any, political mailers now addressed to you. The smart campaigns will take you off their mail list once they know you turned your ballot in.2 points

Wait a second. Some of us lived through those guys, after having lived through Eric Hipple, Chuck Long, Rusty Hilger, Bob Gagliano, Rodney Peete, Andre Ware, Charlie Batch, Gus Frerotte, Ty Detmer, and Mike McMahon, with the highlights being Erik Kramer and one good season of Scott Mitchell. So consider yourself lucky. 😂1 point

But, that's an example why, when time is not a factor, like end of game or half - you go for the FG on THIRD down. If that happens on 3rd down, the holder smothers the ball, and yes, they lose yards, but going for a 57 yard kick is better than turning it over.1 point

He'll still get 2 starts if it goes 5 games. We didn't get an explanation because Hinch and Harris don't like to reveal what they are doing ahead of time. They believe it gives them a advantage if the other team is guessing. Of course, that means fans are left guessing too which can be annoying. In this case, it wasn't a surprise since Skubal has never pitched on three days rest.1 point

It's quite the leap to assume an ace pitcher on short rest will remain an ace pitcher. I did the math several years ago and it actually works out that the leverage and likelihood of a game happening are directly inversely proportional. To put another way, if he's in line for Games 2 and 5, that's fine.1 point

I still like going to the polling place and doing it in person. Has zero to do with any trust issues about my ballot. It’s just something I like to do on Election Day with my daughter that will hopefully rub off on her to understand the importance of voting.1 point

I don’t think big money for first baseman makes sense in general and agree with the board not part of the plan.1 point

I guess you can try that with people who are telling you they are voting for Trump (not much to lose I guess), but I'm not sure that shame is the best strategy on someone is telling you they plan to write-in a candidate... there's a risk of alienation that could lead to a worse outcome (ie. pushing them back to Trump)1 point

and again, you literally have to have zero power of analysis of reality to hold that view. Alas that is exactly true of way too much of the population.1 point

I'd requote everything I wrote a couple of days ago, but again: I think it is smart and meaningful for Harris's campaign to court disaffected Rs. They will even flip a few votes this time around, just as Biden did in 2020. Particularly in places like suburban Milwaukee, Charlotte, Philly, Raleigh, Detroit, it will matter. But even if you don't flip a vote but someone chooses to leave the box blank or not show up, that's a win. Just take it and move on... Shaming people further doesn't advance the cause at all... if anything it is counterproductive1 point

How the hell do you miss that call? This is fixed.1 point

They are more likely to dispose of the Baez contract than any big move. He won't play on this team again. I don't think they are going to change their contract risk model because of this run.1 point

Didn't the team go on their best run in 40 years after liberating themselves from some high payroll players through various means?1 point

Ugh! Alonso is the exact opposite of what this team needs. He's soon to be 30, he barely hit .240, and struck out 172 times. And he'll cost a fortune. We already have enough high K, bad AB types. We need more high contact, bat on ball types. And if that means no "A" list FA, then so be it. But we don't have a single guy on the roster outside of Carp who consistently puts the bat on the ball, and that needs to change if we're going to be a real competitor.1 point

For every positive huge free agent signing in MLB, there seems to be at least 2 awful contracts. Look at Detroit's history - Zimmermann, Baez. Upton was so-so. Look at the Angels history. So many bad signings I want Det to add 2 bats as much as anyone, but Alonso's ops dropped below 800. I think Harris stays the course with some mid tier signings and to continue replenishing from the farm. Det is building an identity - versatility, aggressive on the base paths, solid defense, lots of pitching. Control the strike zone (but their obp was 29th in MLB).1 point

I don’t know if I believe that this franchise will offer long-term contracts of substantial value vastly exceeding its existing payroll to win what could quite possibly prove to be only a few more games and disrupt the “26 Musketeers” élan that seems to be providing dividends right now. It’s not like I have a crystal ball or anything, but I don’t think it’s in the DNA of this team’s ownership to do that. Chris Ilitch looked like a happy leprechaun when he was getting doused in the locker room and it just seems unlikely to me that if he departs from the way of building this team thus far it will be a moderate departure and nothing really dramatic unless Scott Harris does a really, really good sales job.1 point

If the vote in 1776's state is with him writing in Liz: Trump 14,357,129 Harris 13,926,234 It would have been this if he voted for Harris: Trump 14,357,129 Harris 13,926,235 It would have been this if he voted for Trump: Trump 14,357,130 Harris 13,926,236 The first and third totals are not the same. Therefore a write-in is not a vote for Trump. I'm tried of the left gaslighting on that.1 point

Oh no not Petruzelli, I still haven't forgiven him for spurning the Wings and signing with the Leafs 😂 I'm starting to wonder if they try and sneak Husso through waivers due to his cap hit. If someone claims him it gives you some cap space at least... I agree with your calls on Kasper, MBN and Danielson. Kasper has looked pretty dang good and they've used him in a PK role. It feels weird to send MBN back to Sweden, the AHL makes the most sense to get him more used to the NA ice. Danielson looks good but still has stuff to work on, and muscle to add. I wish they could offload Veleno and Berggren to make room for kids and/or Watson.1 point

On D they have a poor secondary, they constantly lose contain on the edge. Receiving core is Loveland and the 7 dwarfs and the they don't have a QB. They have a coaching staff that changes them into losing plays most of the time and can't manage the clock. Other than that, nothing much to be concerned about.0 points
