Folks just a general warning here: We're straying very close to a political issue here re: How the cops handled Jamo. I don't think anyone has cross over the political line, but we're all (myself included) inching up to it. I mean it's kinda hard not to given this situation. BUT: There is a reason we have a political forum area and there's a reason we keep politics in that area. Let's try to keep the discussion on the Jamo/Lions aspect of this as much as possible and be ultra-polite with each other when we do touch on the "other" stuff.4 points

I unfollowed Jed because he posted too much stupid stuff on Twitter. He is nothing like BST at all. BST was witty. He also never posted in the Tigers forum and JED rambles about the Tigers constantly. Not the same person.2 points

I adored Teri Garr. There is a Martin Scorsese comedy (yeah, I know), and it's a DARK comedy (it's Scorsese) from 1985 called After Hours. There are some serious laugh out loud moments in it and Teri has a very small but very memorable part in the movie as a Monkees-obsessed waitress. The part had to have been written for her. It's perfect. It's a slow-burn of a movie but it has plenty of little payoffs throughout. I highly recommend it. If you liked The King Of Comedy, you'll love this. Same kind of tone and New York is a character in the movie too. There's even a Cheech & Chong cameo. Cheech & Chong in a Scorsese pic, what's not to love?2 points

My impression based on everything I have read about Bregman suggests he would be a great Hinch fit. The concern about him is a potential prohibitive contract length.2 points

Thankfully, no one in my immediate family…. There seems to be at least one in-law relative that drank GALLONS of the Kool-Aid. And, now I have come across some acquaintances, not really “friends”, but were people that I’d definitely had partied &/or worked with… they’ve gone down the rabbit hole. It’s sad to me. I am sure this is a game-changer for me going forward.2 points

Pistons could sneak into the play in game. As long as the other team sits their two best players every game.2 points

You can tell how far the Lions have come since proclaiming to be a Lions player was more likely to get you arrested before the Campbell era.2 points

I think the only thing I can say with some certainty is that the voting numbers are, for sure, Going to be higher than they were in 2020. Some part of me says substantially higher. And, my gut feeling is just that this plays better for the Harris side of the equation. We’ll see.1 point

Yeah, I get it. An old and washed up QB who lucked into a single championship years ago is the only draw. Rodgers has a lot of big stats but very little success teamwise. Most of the country wants to see him scowl...1 point

Ok, I recall that BST was a fan of the term "loonspuddery" which was amusing.1 point

Right. BST pretty much used to say an American wouldn’t recognize a real socialist if one walked up and bit him.1 point

I don't know if he himself has officially called them Nazis, but... I do have a few connections on FB who are MAGAts, who post memes comparing Nazis with Democrats, and who regularly call them socialists and/or communists. I remember a while back somebody from the old board from the UK, who described himself as a real Socialist, saying that to him Obama was very right wing (was his handle Blue Square Thing, maybe?). I'm pretty sure that there are an awful lot of people out there who really have no idea what Socialism and Communism are.1 point

I agree with this. A lot of guys we think are available might not be available yet. And maybe a few guys we don’t think are available could be after Sunday. Also, I’ve thought since the injury that they would want a few weeks to evaluate their backups and determine how significant their need is. Seems like they were high on Muhammad’s performance.1 point

So the Jets are on Prime time again tonight. I've never seen such a horrible team get so many prime time games. It's almost like they're trying to turn off all the casual NFL fans. Who want to watch a team that's going to lose 10+ games this season? Ridiculous.1 point

The Dodgers should vote Cole a full share of the championship money after last night. If Commissioner Landis had seen that Cole would never wear a MLB uniform again.1 point

I'd be wary of adding a lot of position player veterans unless those veterans were good cultural fits. You can't help but notice that Javy Baez leaving the dugout signaled immediately the surge. Is Alex Bregman that fit? I dunno. Spencer Torkelson would be a cultural fit if he could hit his weight. Will that happen? I dunno. The formula of the '84 Tigers to create a core of young players who all come up together and add via trade (Chet Lemon) and FA (Darrell Evans) those extra pieces seems more robust for our market than the 2006-2013 model of building via the checkbook and trading for pieces from the bottom of the woodpile because only a Dave Dombrowski can do that if he's backed by a hefty Mike Illitch checkbook and Scott Boros is on speed dial.1 point

You know, taking a side in this dispute is sort of like taking a side in a marital dispute and you don’t really know either of the two parties very well. At least it’s like that for me. It is encouraging to see two other great teams do dumb stuff though. I don’t really follow other teams that much so this might allow me to be less discouraged by my own club when they do dumb stuff since it’s obvious that other clubs do the same thing.1 point

The Dodgers have now walked nine Yankees. That’s right nine. I’m amazed they’re still in this game.1 point

After 2 outs in the bottom of the fifth Vesia loads the bases. It’s nice to see other people’s teams do frustrating stuff.1 point

So after Cole’s blunder at first base I wonder if the national media is going to scold the Yankees for their “pitcher fielding” foibles as I recall we were scolded in 2006. Or if “the pinstripes” allure will frighten them from taking things that far…1 point

Are you aware of the context of her mentioning the bear? I think it was about a year ago this big discussion hit the internet. If you were hiking in the woods would you rather encounter a man or a bear? Men said a man. Most women immediately said a bear. I think its easier to understand as a man if you ask them who would you rather have your wife or daughter encounter?1 point

Trading Maata shows the Yzerplan has failed. His version of the Verlander trade. We got robbed. It's over. The Wings need to fire Yzerman and convince the Lions to fire Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn.1 point

I care about what happened 30, 40, and even 75 years ago, and it's important for people to understand history in order to lessen the chance that it will be repeated. A lot of what the middle class is going through now is a result of policies that were put into place in the 80s (income inequality, lack of investment in infrastructure, lack of exposure to different viewpoints on the media, etc), and a lot of these things have developed over decades. The more people who understand this, as opposed to thinking it's all because of the current President, the better off we'll be. It took us decades to get here, it won't be fixed overnight-especially if you vote for somebody who's going to expand the policies that caused it in the first place. And I'm aware that there are many who won't get the message. I'm hopeful that enough people can.1 point

If Liranzo and Briceno continue to develop along the same path we could possibly have two star c-1b and that could be particularly valuable. Not sure if anyone has had two regulars equally share the catching duties before. Starting catchers these days such as Contreras and Rutschman get in about 110-120 games games behind the plate and DH another 30-35 games if they can hit. If Liranzo and Briceno each get about 80 games behind the plate and roughly the same at 1b, they both could get in full seasons at the plate and prolong their catching careers. And the team frees up a roster spot because there is no reserve catcher sitting on the bench. That spot can go to a player with a more useful skill set.1 point
