I was reminiscing the other day about elections like 1976, when I was not going to be particularly unhappy in the morning whichever guy won. Good times.....3 points

I wanted to share an anecdotal story from door knocking this morning. I knocked on a door and the lady who answered is probably early to mid-40s. She let me know right away that she is Puerto Rican-American. She also let me know that her and her daughter are voting for Harris because of what was said at the MSG rally about Puerto Rico by Trump's people. It seems to be breaking through.3 points

I think you'd have a hard time even calling that targeting. He was dropping into the hit, not launching himself. Bad hit? Yes. Foul, Yes. Ejection? Come on...2 points

My favorite was the Ecology Song. Or was it Mercy, Mercy, Me? ETA: And people did listen for a while, and passed legislation to help with clean air and water with good results. Unfortunately, people have either forgotten, or never knew about rivers catching fire, air quality alerts, and generally how dirty many of our cities were, and how important it is to keep the regulations to maintain our cleaner, healthier, environment. Even now it's unacceptable that we keep hearing about lead contaminated water in places-and yet it could get even worse.2 points

I'd be more for Bregman if he was the last piece of the puzzle to put us over the top in October. But we have a bunch of other holes to plug, so I think I'd be surprised if we went all in on him.2 points

What are the Goff haters going to say after this one? "Can't win in big games" "Can't throw the deep ball" "Can't throw the ball outdoors"1 point

These 4:25 "game of the week" games usually start pretty close to the listed time, kickoff will likely be at 4:30 at the latest.1 point

We're pretty doom and gloom here, because a Drumpf win could be a big disaster for MA-and it's really stressful to know that our future could depend on how the people in about 7-8 states vote. Even with all of its faults MA is a really great place to live.1 point

Somehow, if and when this era passes we're all going to have to try our best to come back together after being driven apart by all of this rhetoric. When this happens I don't know, and will depend on what happens on Tuesday. I can only say it won't be easy, and all the junk 'news' out there might make it impossible. I hope not.1 point

It's not just that, many of them remember a time when they couldn't get a credit card or mortgage without a man to cosign. I believe other bank accounts were off limits to them also. I'm seeing that this is the 50th anniversary of women being able to obtain these things.1 point

Iowa has also had a lot of trouble attracting doctors in general, but especially OBGYNs. This isn't just because of the abortion ban, of course, but it certainly doesn't help. This is one issue which really needs to be addressed, and soon-hospitals are closing, especially in rural areas but also in poorer urban neighborhoods. Where I grew up the nearest hospital was 30-45 minutes away, and if that closed, the next nearest one was even farther away.1 point

He was so damn right. There was a reason the leftists like George Orwell who could see the danger of Stalin and Hitler could see how much they needed Churchill.1 point

She wants it to come down to Warren so she can get attention and perhaps try a few things. In the end it will fail but could be good for her future if she gets to be on Fox News a lot.1 point

Maybe this is a conversation better had after the votes are cast, but people really need to stop stereotyping and understand that the demographics that swung heavily toward Trump in 2016 may not have the same relationship with him today. I'm not saying it's a lot of folks, but not everybody feels the same way that they did then. And it may impact actual voting behavior. But there's a tendency if you don't spend time in rural America to assume that perceptions don't change, and that's not necessarily true.1 point

I agree. I'm new here but need to get involved. With respect to this election, if I didn't have going kids and a job, I'd be north of the Cheddar Curtain door knocking. I've donated money, but I wish I could do more1 point

I could have beaten MTB, but I had to add another post trashing Trump before doing it. Priorities!1 point

If mainstream is totally on board with Trump's opponent, then it's about time. He is one of the worst human beings in America and they've been letting get away with murder for 9 years.1 point

What happened at Cobo was the most disgraceful thing to happen jn the city since the riots. A bunch of white people demanding they stop counting the votes of black Detroiters. My wife and I lost a friend over that. He was down there and we both flat out told him we are done with him. The police should have tear gassed those people out on to Jefferson and and March them up Woodward to Highland Park or up Gratiot a few miles. Then as Marcellus Wallace said…. They can get mideivel on them. I’m half joking.1 point

I've been watching reruns of Emergency, which I remember loving as a little kid. And I'm happy to say that seasons 1-6 were ones I still liked. After season 6, there were 3 2 hour movies and a retrospective. FETV is in the middle of showing these movies. The second and third movie have been....underwhelming. One of the best parts of the series was that the focus was mostly on the rescues, with very little family drama. This is what inspired a lot of people at the time to become paramedics. Movies 2 and 3, on the other hand, have a full hour of soap opera type buildup before showing the rescues. In other words-boring.1 point

Ha-Seong Kim is the Korean Tony Phillips! He is definitely someone I'd like to see the Tigers pursue.1 point
-
Ha-Seong Kim of the Padres declined his player option and is now a FA. Could be a potential target for the Tigers, he's a right handed bat that can play all over the infield and will only be 29 next season.1 point

And you've reminded me of one reason I want to ensure that higher education is kept in reach for people: there are a lot of talented people out there who could make a real difference. I want to make sure that those who want an education aren't barred because of background and/or financial reasons.1 point
