When the President's first inclination after this incident was to take to his personal social media website, not express any empathy and throw the Blackhawk helicopter pilot and traffic controllers in front of the bus before there's been a single second dedicated to investigating what happened.... forgive me if I don't find some folks' complaints about "politicizing" to be serious.8 points

That was the most shameful thing I’ve ever seen in my life. And then his new FAA person, and then Hegseth, go to the podium, and the first thing they do is lather up their leader, thanking him for his fantastic leadership. It was absolutely sickening. And for sure, whoever the traffic control agent was, if he is NOT white and male, they are going to tar and feather him and dragged him through the streets because evidently diversity is the reason this crash happened according to Trump. He can ****ing kiss my ass.5 points

I don't know if this plane crash is a result of that, but deliberately causing chaos all over federal government is almost certainly going to cause disasters. People don't understand the many important roles that federal employees play. It's not just a bunch of lazy bureaucrats.5 points

I remember last year when there was a devastating hurricane that ravaged the southeast and North Carolina in particular and Trump immediately politicized it after people died and then Tigeraholic1 still voted for him. Sick!4 points

Nobody here is cheering for it. You are the last person who should be accusing people of politicizing everything. That's all you ever do now including this post.4 points

I think Harris will need to take risks at some point during his tenure with the Tigers. It's pretty rare for a team to have long-term success solely based on their own products. The perfect contract for the perfect free agent is never going to happen.3 points

He's making it political. Wasn't someone complaining about people making a tragedy political?3 points

If you read the MTF constituton, you will see a clause stating that we are allowed to publicly question Biff. Everyone else is off limits. Publicly questioning Bert is an immediate ban. Other penalties vary according to the seriousness of the offense.3 points

If we can’t politicize an incident in which a US army helicopter crashes into a civilian aircraft after the government offers buyouts to every one of its employees with the specific goal of decimating the civil service and replacing lifetime experts with political hack appointees; the SecDef goes on the air to whine about DEI instead of managing a fatal incident on US soil involving aircraft he is responsibility for; and the President of the United States goes on social media to start blaming everyone and anyone instead of fulfilling the traditional role as Comforter-in-Chief—if we can’t politicize an incident even under those circumstances, then we might as well just shut down the political forum right now and stick to baseball.3 points

Remember when East Palestine was immediately politicized and blamed on Buttigieg? Remember when Trump, who was a private citizen, raced to East Palestine for a photo op?3 points

confirmation hearings are a total waste of time - the appointees just lie through their teeth. Until a Congress is willing to impeach or judge or cabinet officer for having lied at a confirmation, it will just continue to get worse. There is no accountability.3 points

I do feel like there is a negative correlation between fanbase contentment with the Tigers' offseason moves and actual improvement by the team.3 points

Flaherty did fail the Yanks physical 6 months ago. That could be tainting his chances at a long term contract. Maybe he's a 1973 Vega2 points

I'm not having the firing of the FAA administrator having anything to do with the DCA accident but yeah, Nazi Musk is a problem southpaw: "He’s the president’s biggest donor, he gets a west wing office, he gets to oust the administrator of the federal aviation administration, he gets to send emails to the entire federal workforce trying to scam them out of their pensions, and he’s a nazi." — Bluesky2 points

The fact that the Pistons are near .500 and have beaten the likes of the Knicks and Rockets with guys like THJ, Harris, Duren and Ausar (love Ausar but he can't shoot in a shooting league) in the starting lineup where the Pistons are shorthanded against just about every team is a testament to how good Cade is. This is the Wizards with Cade Cunningham.2 points

As a moderator of this forum, this is unnecessary. Were the roles reversed here, I’m confident this would be considered a personal attack.2 points

I have zero doubt that they're combing through the victim list hoping one of the pilots or Air Traffic Controllers were women or people of color so they can blame DEI hires for the tragedy.2 points

https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/01/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-ends-dei-madness-and-restores-excellence-and-safety-within-the-federal-aviation-administration/ Look, I have no idea whether these moves had anything to do with this individual incident or not... But one thing is clear: they are treating all of this like a game. When all of us rely on these federal employees to get from A to B2 points

The plane crash is the first of many disasters that will be attributable to the crap this admin is pulling on federal workers.2 points

Whether it's poliical or not, I'm sure it it will become political really quickly. The Dems will blame Trump. The GOP will blame the trans pilot. Trump will make the brief all about himself.2 points

I really don’t see him making it to the end of his term. His mind is completely gone and he’s such an imminent threat to this country. Good job, America.1 point

I wouldn't bet against it. I also wouldn't bet against Trump getting a net gain out of this episode in terms of accelerating changes he's planning to make, not just with FAA and the armed forces, but across his whole government. I acknowledge this particular story is still hot and it feels too soon, but he has faced certain defeat many times on numerous fronts and came out of them better and stronger than before. Put it this way: I'll believe he takes a political loss on this when we see it, and not before.1 point

Make provocative posts, then complain about not liking provoked responses to said provocative posts. When posts are more easily construed to be entry points to civil discourse, that is probably more of what results.1 point

Wow, eleven days. That was fast. But then, with the fire hose of abject terribleness on full blast from the start of this redux, I can see how it's simply too hard to effectively defend it. Good strategy. Cut your losses and retreat to somewhere friendly where they don't talk about inconvenient things like the truth sitting in plain sight of everyone. Take care and all the best.1 point

Greene and Carpenter are both performing at a high level, and maybe we cannot expect more, but in many ways we can expect more IF they are healthy. every other player has a reasonable chance of out-performing their 2024 numbers. not all will, some will regress, some will get injured, but not crazy to think most of the team has it's best baseball in front of them. Bregman and Torres both have a solid chance to improve on their 2024 stats as well1 point

Hearing that press conference, it’s just complete nonsense and non-leadership. We are just ten days into this disaster.1 point

I don't mean to be debby downer, but we aren't making the playoffs next year. Even with Bregman..... Our team outperformed by a mile this past year. Cool story, was fun, but I'd be absolutely astonished if it happened again. Lets look at our infielders Avg/OBP (From last year): (I'll even include Bregman) Bregman - .260/.315 Sweeney - .218/.269 Torres - .257/.330 Keith - .260/.309 Jung - .241/.362 (79 AB's) Catcher Dingler - .167/.195 Rogers - .197/.255 OF Karpenter - .284/.345 Greene - .262/.348 Meadows - .244/.310 We have basically 2 Average to slightly above average hitters out of 9...... In what world does that make the playoffs again. I pray to the heavens I'm wrong. But this team needs more talent. They need guys that can get on base more. They got lucky last year and it was an aberration. Now if they take massive steps forward, then we could be talking. But it'd have to be quite a few massive steps........1 point

If I am the Spurs I would want to go much bigger than Fox. They might have two lottery picks this year. Atlanta owes them a few more picks still, Charlotte owes them a 1st as well. They have some very tradeable young guys in Vassell, Sochan, Castle, and Johnson. Package that up for a big time #2 to put next to Victor.1 point
-
Exactly my point. It’s not some deep secret either. I don’t know why none of these draft expers predict a player for the Lions with the reason that he’s the highest remaining player on their draft board. All these guys create a draft board so this should be their easiest to pick.1 point
-
This team drafts BPA and sticks tightly to their board. If they don't have a first round grade or high second round grade when they are drafting, they won't reach for the player. My personal first round draft preferences are edger or interior pass rusher or an interior offensive lineman who can slide over to Center one day. That may not match up at all with what Holmes and Campbell want.1 point
