  2. If someone says that I will embrace them but I doubt they will. They will be pushing their shopping cart down a dirt road with all their possessions inside muttering things about Trans people and saying “if only they’d given us Greenland”.

  4. Wouldn't be surprised, but people don't need inflation data from BLS to know it's happening, they sense every time they buy, so people will know.

  5. Thought I had while doing some landscaping earlier... With all this data deleting going on, I could very well see the BLS suppressing the inevitable inflation data coming in the next few years.

  6. Yeah, I too couldn’t help but notice the guy who pledged to stay away, to whom I wished all the best on the way out, now coming back to laugh at America emptying its clip into its own foot. I wouldn’t mind hearing now how all this is making America great, but as we know, none of this is about actually making anything in America great except the Trump crew’s offshore bank accounts. Stripping America for parts. Isn’t that great.

  9. The scope of the problem and this entire war on fentanyl is a fabrication. It being a national epidemic has been made up. It’s not destroying the fabric of our society that these dummies want us to believe. Yes, it’s an issue but it’s a small one that affects a minuscule amount of our population. Unlike this ridiculous tariff solution to this made up problem that will impact 100% of the country.

  12. I've been avoiding this forum on purpose, as well as limiting my news intake, simply to help ensure my own well being. This ****upery from Trump is next level. Roughly 10 days in and it's shaping up to be such a monumental disaster. The only thing I wonder is if the economy begins to tank, does he back out of everything and kick out Elon, or does he see this through.

  13. If the picks had protections I'd do it just for the upside but without them I think it's too big of a risk for a player with his injury history and build. If he and/or Cade were to have an injury riddled season the first rounder will almost certainly be in the top 10 and likely top 5 depending on the ping pong balls.

  16. What makes it a little harder to read is that Torres isn't going to be here after this season so the moves made to accommodate him are going to get unwound in '26. Who know what this is going to look like. On the Torkelson front, I have no clue what has or hasn't passed between Torkelson and the team since October, I would only hope any good management would be reserving final judge on what a player is until they see what the player does in competitive game situations after whatever work he has done. There is no cookie cutter that reliably stamps out hitters. I suppose if he is goofing off that's one thing, but he he's chosen to work on things in a different priority, that gets pretty grey. Most players do know themselves better than anyone else does. I'd be more interested in what he shows actually show up with in ST than the details what his off-season regime were. But the reality is we don't know anything anyway. And the Truth is whether he toed the line to the team's satisfaction this off-season or or not, he still isn't going to have a spot if he doesn't hit better.

  17. They had cash to burn last year. Keith's deal had a signing bonus payable last year, I believe. It made sense to do some frontloading, because the young core is only going to get more expensive.

  31. Wings maintained their 2-0 lead until 12 minutes left in regulation, but a Flames powerplay goal has cut it to 2-1. I am in Sarnia this weekend and game is on tv, but instead I’m listening to it on the radio in my childhood bedroom. Like I did for countless Tigers and Wings games from the West Coast in the ‘70s and ‘80s

  32. I liked that Harris decreased Maeda's salary from $14 to $10 for the second year. Unusual but it would make it easier to move him had he not turned out so utterly useless. just wasting time here looking through Baseball Reference. See that Miggy signed his big contract extension in 2014 and it started in 2016. He had a HOF caliber 2016. For the rest of his $248 million contract extension, Miggy had a -2.7 WAR. He actually would have retired with a higher WAR had he retired 7 years earlier.

  33. I remember when they signed Humberto. It was a pleasant surprise - a draft and follow. He was projected to go pretty high in 2002 draft. Baseball Reference's transaction line - June 5, 2001: Drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 31st round of the 2001 amateur draft. Player signed May 27, 2002. Here's a statistical oddity: Tigers traded Sanchez, Anthony Claggett, and Kevin Whelan to the Yankees for Sheffield in 2006. Each pitcher eventually made it to the majors to pitch in two games for the Yankees: 2, 2.2, and 2.2 innings, respectively. DD was great in the 2000s in obtaining contributing players for Tiger draft picks that never panned out.

  36. It will be interesting next October when we breakdown the combined numbers of our third basemen (Vierling, Jung, Ibanez, McKinstry, Navigato, Bohm) to how Bregman fares with the New York Knights. I mean, left field in Knights Field is similar to Comerica and he's not putting up Roy Hobbs type numbers as a right handed hitter. . Any other stadium and Hobbs hits 23 or 24 home runs. Right Field at Knight Field is a joke. Bump Bailey Corner is practically Little League dimensions. Hobbs was so overrated.

Such shipments were confiscated and sold at auction, with profits being donated to the people of Boston.

  39. The Federal Government is not a business and should not be run like a business. Especially by someone with a history of many bankruptcies and underlings who can best be defined as reality show losers. And if they go after Social Security and Medicare as well as Medicaid they're going to need a big army to hold back a bunch of folks with nothing left to lose.

  40. It will be a triple whammy. Food is going up because there will be no field workers, electronics, clothing and all kinds of small mechanicals up because they come from China, housing up because wood and fuel from Canada, all service entry level wages will be driven up if undocumenteds are actually removed from the work force, and of course as noted, all domestic manufactures will raise prices to meet the reduced competition. No one should be surprised. Importing goods from overseas and suppressing US wages have been cornerstones of inflation control economic policy since Reagan. And they work. Remove them and we are going to get inflation. I'm on board for entry level wages being forced up, not so much any of the rest of it!
