The difference in his approach so far this season is night and day - he is swinging at everything in the strike zone. That may end up being an over compensation and whether it works for him once pitchers are in midseason form I can't say, but he has certainly taken the idea of 'look for ball, hit ball' to a level he never practiced before. Any worry that he may still be in a 'refuse to change' mode can be put to rest. Even if he's not a better hitter, he is a different hitter.3 points

I wouldn’t do this myself because it’s not my style, but I think the practical joke is fine. After all, regardless of whether he is MAGA, the salesman is presumably a willing and eager representative of the Tesla company, not an captive being pressed into service against his will. And it’s not as though the joke is picking his pocket or breaking his leg. After all, the drop in Tesla sales as a result of FElon’s noxious policies had already been picking the guy’s pocket even before the prank call. This is one of the ways the marketplace expresses its dissatisfaction—even better than a simple down arrow on a sales chart, actually, since it provides a vital piece of information as to why sales are plummeting. If the salesman can’t take this relatively gentle kind of heat, there are any number of sales positions with reputable companies he could take instead. Big boy pants applies here.3 points

I actually go to a local farm that has their own hens and get my eggs from them. They’re gathered that day and are maybe a buck or so less expensive. (Their prices have been relatively the same as pre-bird flu.). I’m praying their flocks don’t ever become infected2 points

Google tells me VW, Ford, Mercedes, GM, Nestle, IBM, Siemens, Chase, BASF, Bayer, and Bosch all were intertwined with Nazi Germany in some way. Every one of them still exists. They were involved with a regime that killed over 6 million people, and they exist like nothing happened. So no, I don't think Musk is in much danger there.2 points

I don't know of Massachusetts has better access to uninfected flocks, I got my eggs for $4.99 per dozen this week.1 point

Blaha, while clearly way way past his prime, seems rejuvenated with his play calling this season much like we feel watching the team I'm sure. I just can't imagine watching the Pistons post-Blaha, man is a legend that's been through all of it.1 point

I saw him go to the opposite field with one of his home runs. Love to see that!1 point

Bridges just asked Thibs to back off on the starter's minutes. He might be in the G-League by the time the playoffs start.1 point

All those companies were put back on a working basis by the US and Allies after the war. VW for example was resurrected by a British Army major who needed the locals to have jobs so he got the factory going.1 point

the rest of the league must still be concerned about levi's extensive injury history. that's understandable with how little he's played. with that said, the market is throwing around crazy money for defensive linemen so its possible we are overrating levi a bit. and always remember that the amount put out by the agents for some of these deals is not the actual amount the player will earn.1 point

Dave Kingman, there's a name from the past! Iirc only player to hit home runs for 4 different teams (2 NL and 2 AL) in the same season, 1977. I'd take that career for Tork. 400+ HR1 point

I can't wait until the regular season to see the Tigers jack dingers and pass around the pizza pizza spear again. Good times...... 🤣🤣1 point

This kind of attitude will be used against us. Boycott Tesla until they go out of business. That is awesome. Vandalism and potentially dangerous fires wil just makes us look bad and lose support fot the cause.1 point

I believe pitching chaos was based on not having more than two pitchers who could reliably start game. I believe the effect of pitching chaos was to keep other teams off-balance and affect their ability to prepare for the game—to your point, not letting get hitters get comfortable.1 point

I’m following this on gameday and there are huge lags for seven or eight pitches where nothing happens and I keep hoping that perhaps a new version of Morganna the Kissing Bandit is occurring and then to my dismay I just realize that gameday is malfunctioning.1 point

One of the most interesting things for me about this season is going to be Hinch's handling of the pitching staff. Bullpen chaos was based on the idea of not letting batters get comfortable. This involved matching strengths against weaknesses, limiting the pitches a batter saw against a single pitcher, and varying the pitching styles batters faced. Hinch may have the luxury this season, knock on wood, of 6 to 7 stretched out effective starters very few of which are seasoned enough to go full out all season. For example, Open with Holton, go to Cobb for three or four and finish with Jobe. Really looking forward to seeing that kind of manipulation.1 point

I agree, good memories of Magic and Kelser. And Blaha seems more animated. It's been a tough decade for Detroit sports, but a new era is starting1 point

Let me see if I understand this. States that now receive Federal Funding for schools will now have to make up the loss on their own. Don't they already decide where the funds are spent, curriculum, etc? Now they are tasked with making up the difference, which means your state and local taxes are going up. Don't expect federal taxes to be cut unless you buy a piece of PINTO TRUMP.1 point

I sort of take the Luigi approach to how Tesla is being handled these days... I don't condone violence or harassment in regards to the brand, but it's also really hard to generate a lot of sympathy toward Tesla. Particularly as it's CEO is busy trying to wreck our government.1 point

So did Kenny Holland yet he ended up ineffective. Sometime guys find a combination in one place or time and can't reproduce it in others. They got a big energy boost from a new coach but that's not looking sustainable. By any objective measure this team is not improving very fast and the FO has been making moves over multiple years that can't be defended. By that measure the comparison is spot on whether we like it or not. We just keep hearing that it's the next crop of kids to come up will be the difference. If it were any one other than Yzerman and his track record he'd be on a very hot seat for this performance in this place.1 point
-
You may be on to something. His career splits indicate that Mazda does seem to be stronger against the first hitters he faces, especially in relief. This might be an indication that the contrast between his stuff and the stuff of the pitcher he relieves is substantial enough to flummox batters out of the gate.1 point

I thought bankruptcies put a person IN Trump's orbit... Or at least that's what was argued in this very forum (actually, its predecessor...) quite often by one or two of our MAGA "experts".1 point

Really enjoying the way Cade and Duren play together. Having Kelser calling the games...it really brings to mind what Magic and Kelser had working in their championship season. And it really seems like Blaha has kicked it up a notch this year...1 point

In American Politics it's hard to be forgiven for a messed up economy. Reagan came in with a bad recession, but inflation was so bad he was forgiven because by the '84 election inflation was back under 4% and interest rates were on a steady decline. I don't know what Trump is going to do to try to justify a recession he causes or if anything he says would have any traction in the face of rising unemployment.1 point
