If anything, by exploiting their cheap labor and lax labor laws, we (or at least our corporations) have been the ones who have been exploiting those countries.3 points

If it weren’t for Sweeney hustling to beat that double play throw, it’s two outs and the game is tied on Tork’s hit … maybe. Sweeney created the conditions that led to the specific outcome we saw today.2 points

OK, I know we're supposed to be welcoming people like this into the fold and if they're doing some serious self reflection I'll be happy to do that. It's just hard, because it always seems like the only thing that sways them is when something affects them directly. As long as the bad stuff is directed at the 'others' pain is necessary or even good.2 points

How about not have a pre-planned celebration? Just be sponaneous and real.2 points

What? But you can't finish in 6th place if there's only 5 teams. Do your math..........oh, oh I GET IT !!!! Maybe they'll trade for Anthony Rendon. That sounds like a White Sox thing.1 point

Ugh. That's about all I can come up with. It's not easy to be an ecologist when so many don't even pretend to know anything about it. Some don't even believe in ecosystems at all, let alone that destroying them will have serious consequences for all of us.1 point

I'm so happy for Tork. He was getting written off by a lot of us but man he has definitely been a different player this year. Great comeback boys!1 point

It's kinda weird, I see Tork come up and feel total confidence. I figured he would at least tie the game. But he won it!1 point

That was beautiful! Last year, Tork would have struck out or hit into a DP.1 point

Many of them traveled to various protests-from the price of a subway ticket all the way up to an airline ticket and possibly room and board. And they probably were glad to do it!1 point

IDK - In 2006 JV had one rough start in April but finished May with a 2.55 ERA. Jobe has some work to do to duplicate that, but here's hoping. (If you are comparing to JV two poor starts in 2005, then that comparison means Jobe should be in Toledo.) But the other side of the question is there anyone at Toledo that is likely to be any better. Neither Manning or Montero off to particularly impressive starts.1 point

Not only does nobody have to pay any of these 100,000 people to show up, I would bet that a high percentage of them would have paid ten or twenty bucks for the pleasure of showing up.1 point

Evidently it was estimated that there were 100,000 people at the event in Boston yesterday-not everybody could fit into City Hall Plaza. We had Lt. Governor Driscoll, Sen. Markey, Rep. Pressley, and Mayor Wu as some of our speakers. I made the mistake of reading comments to a Fox Digital story about it-evidently we 'don't know what we're protesting' or 'don't want to work real jobs' and I've also seen a few cases in which it's insinuated that we're vandals and that there was violence. And as for George Soros-he must be broke if he's really paying 3.5 million people to show up to these things. So... while I wasn't approached yesterday, I'm thinking it would be a good thing to have a prepared statement to give if somebody does decide to ask me for a comment. Though TBH, as a poster near me said, the number of things I'm mad about don't exactly fit on a standard poster board. 😉1 point

So the White Sox have a sacrifice bunt to move the runners forward and a sacrifice fly to score a run so it sounds like the not very exciting White Sox of the 1960s. Sometime during then, they were freezing baseballs too.1 point

Go look at Verlander’s first year. That’s where I see Jobe at with struggling to put people away with 2 strikes and allowing hitters back in the count. Also Skubals first year where he gave up a lot of home runs. Jobe is going to struggle from time to time but he absolutely needs to be in the major leagues learning. With smaller amount of minor league teams the gap between mlb and aaa has never been bigger and his stuff is to good there.1 point

If he really wanted Bregman, why didn't Harris offer him the opt-out he wanted after year one?1 point

That's fair. Their 3pt shooting was awful, no question. I'm looking at the rebound discrepancy (60% to 40%), and if that's a bit more even, there's a few more runouts that they could have which, given the smaller lineups that the Pistons had during the majority of the game, should have lent itself to more more running opportunities. On the year the Pistons outrebound their opponent 45.1 to 42.5, this game included. I guess since the game came down to the end, if the rebound a bit better or shoot a bit better (or both), the outcome is likely towards Detroit's favor. Maybe front line minutes going to Reed rather than Duren and overall minutes going to Sasser rather than Harris explain last night's aberrations a bit.1 point

@Detroit Tigers Ownership @illitchfamily @ChrisIllitch Figure out how to fill that box seat area behind home plate. You should bring in attractive models so our broadcasts look visually interesting aside from the baseball. I would suggest you cast a diverse group. Avoid obvious costumes. So, if you do cast baseball gays, make sure they don't look like the pride float or Carmen Miranda. Avoid blackface, turbans, or native tribal headresses just for the purposes of showing diversity.1 point
