Playoff drought snapped! Winning this game on the road when the three ball completely abandoned you is huge. Also wonder if JB discovered something here. Nobody is stopping Brunson’s flopping, but maybe more minutes with Schroeder harassing him so Ausar can work his off-ball roaming, stealing, and disruptive help defense without fouling out. Worth trying.4 points

Hinch is a genius. Using our #6 SP against a tired SD team. Now we have Flaherty and Olson on an extra day rest. We need Flaherty to give us 7 innings tomorrow.4 points

This team feels different because its achievements have been earned instead of bought — compared to other versions of this team. And disparaging the previous versions of this team when it was playing at a high level as being “bought“ isn’t truly fair but still that’s what it feels like. We expected those previous teams to win. Until August last year, no one expected this team to win and when it’s still winning now, it feels really special.3 points

The last time they won was when my wife and I finally got a chance to get away just the two of us, after we had kids. My oldest was 7. This was for our 10th wedding anniversary and we went to south haven. I remember watching the Celtics series. I got tickets Thursday, nose bleeds, for my son and I. He’s now 24. He’s had a rough couple of weeks between a breakup and totaled car. I’m glad I was able to perk him up. It’s only money.3 points

Even with an offseason Jose Quintana or Chris Sale trade the guys you get could flop out or underperform. Go for the World Series. Take the comp pick if we're unable to extend him.2 points

I can't remember whether I read this at the time, but even in a feature sympathetic to its subject, Mario still comes off as the problem in that pairing.2 points

Impemba had no style, but I don't watch games to hear an announcer promote himself or try to be funny. Like you said, I didn't know he was there and that was fine. The radio guy needs some style. The TV guy needs to stay out of the way of the action.2 points

The series is a prequel to Rogue One which is a prequel to the original Star Wars. You don't need to watch the movies.2 points

Granted most non Knicks fans probably are rooting against them so they may be biased but if you look on social media its amazing how many people you will see that aren't pistons fans talking about how favorable the officiating has been for the Knicks.2 points

KAT in the 4th: 0 points. 0 shots. 2 rebounds. never change you big pussy.2 points

Another wide open three missed. A Knick fell down so must be a foul. Give them free throws.2 points

I enjoy this team over the 2012-14 teams. A more enjoyable brand of baseball.2 points

It’s a shame to waste what is right now a pretty good start by Flaherty by not scoring any runs, which is a statement of the obvious, but heck score some runs dummies.1 point

I’m here to say this for today: I am very pleased to see RFK, Jr. ‘s move today to ban 8 food dyes. Thumbs up. This should have been pursued & done 20+ years ago. So, there it is. A positive review for one thing done by someone in this current administration.1 point

The entire team and coaching staff deserve a ton of credit for last night. If I told you before the game that: Stewart plays 0 minutes Cade has 3 assists Harris, Beasley, and THJ combine to shoot 2-18 from three. With Cade its 3-22. Would you guess the Knicks win by 20 or 30?1 point

How is Hegseth not fired yet? I’m just sitting here reading stories regarding his bull**** answers….and how glaringly ridiculous it is that he’s in charge of the department of defense. What the ****? what the actual ****. He’s trying to make himself the mini-Jesus. Comparing his prosecution to his God Trump‘s persecution. my God . this whole administration is so beyond the pale. Where do we even begin?1 point

Or it could be that MTG was testing the waters, to see how far she could go. If too many people object, she'll call us snowflakes all while claiming she was talking about something/someone else.1 point

harris deserves credit for playing physical with kat, but he didnt stop him at all in game 1. the reason kat didnt score on him in game 2 is because kat is a pussy and refuses to post up and brunson refuses to pass him the ball. brunson has to play hero ball. people get on thibs for not "calling plays for kat," but i suspect much of the late game nba game is more about players with the ball in their hands deciding what to do with it rather than the coach yelling from the sideline. brunson was really pissed at ausar and schroeder that game. he was going to play hero ball against them no matter what thibs is saying. and kat being the pansy he is isnt going to demand the ball. he'll be 10 feet behind brunson saying "yeah! yeah! you get em jalen!"1 point

Exactly. You compete for chances at the prize, and with the projected rotation, you have a solid chance. You don’t give that up for the equivalent of 1 additional 1st rounder (assuming you lose him for the compensation pick). And in reality, you’d be lucky to get 2 top 100 prospects for 1/2 season of Slubal anyway if recent deadlines are an indication.1 point

Harris was abused on defense in game 1 while completely disappearing on offense in the 2nd half. Not only did KAT score on him, he was a big reason the Knicks ran the layup line on Detroit in the 4th quarters. A little unfair to Harris since he shouldn't have to basically play center on defense. KAT didn't get the ball last night, so we don't know if Harris played good defense on him or not. He absolutely was better at controlling the paint though and deserves a lot of credit for that. But I can't get over the play where Brunson switched onto Harris. Tobias held the ball for a good 5 seconds, then shot a 20-foot fade away jumper. He has 6+ inches and 50 pounds on Brunson and he cant back him down? That was such a KAT move.1 point

Example of how professional gamblers use arbitrage. Before the series started, the Minnesota Timberwolves were +160 to win the series. A $2,500 bet wins you $4,000 for a payout of $6,500 (Original $2,500 + $4,000 winnings). Minnesota won game 1 in LA in a blowout. Now the Lakers are the underdogs at +125. Find another book and put $2,889 on the Lakers. This will pay out $6,500 as well (Original bet + winnings). No matter who wins, we are collecting a payout of $6,500. We risked $5,389. So we collect a guaranteed profit of $1,111 no matter which team wins.1 point

I think one mistake with Rizz and Rathbun was just teaming up two guys that most people couldn't easily tell apart. You just instinctively want to know who you are listening to at any point in time and there was always that sort of subliminal audio tension with those two when you didn't. Ermie and Paul, Al and George, Ernie and Oosterman, even Mario and Rod. All those pairings had instant recognition. I think it's generally true that too often people responsible for audio production don't pay enough attention or just don't have a good enough ear for the absolute audio properties or what they are producting. It's something that does have an impact on the hearer's comfort over a long listen even if it's things that can be quite subtle or hardly noticeable on a short exposure. And that is one of Benetti's real strong points - he has a great voice - lots of body and depth to it, very easy to hear over a long period of time.1 point

Kahnle and Holton should be available for this game; Vest, Hanifee, and Hurter probably won't be. We might get another Maeda sighting if it's later in the game with a three-plus run margin either way. We may also see Bailey Horn. Someone said in another thread that we need Jack Flaherty to go at least seven. That sure would help some.1 point

The blacker and whiter it gets, the closer we get to openly rounding up and disappearing entire groups of people in plain view of everyone else, who will comment about what’s happening before their eyes at their peril.1 point

Well stated. Pedigree talent and a roster with some 1st and 2nd rounders. We were impatient and probably cynical about anything Avila touched. Now we have a young and talented group who are very likable and fun to watch.1 point

The FS1 announcers were talking like Malloy would get over excited and not know the strike zone and he clearly knows it, and he certainly knows it better than the home plate ump.1 point

The game was unbelievable, and you become really invested in the characters. We played it on then the PS4 but now my son has a PS5. Tonight‘s episode on HBO was gut, wrenching and surprising actually overwhelming. I know it would be, but it exceeded all expectations.1 point

Also, we were younger back then and had less stuff we needed to keep in our head, so there was room for all the managers in baseball to live up there.1 point
