  4. Cards announcer on Greene's hit: "There goes the no-hitter for Pallante". That was suspenseful.

  6. I'm getting the impression that Skubal is pushing himself too hard early in a couple of these games where he was chasing a no-no. He's got to realize that going that hard there is no way he can finish 9 innings anyway. I'm almost hoping to see him give up a hit in the 1st so he dials back a little.

  7. Fanduel doing a shared Cardinals-Tigers postgame, almost certainly to cut costs. Late stage media capitalism at its finest. I actually hope that means Fanduel is losing their shirt on skinning baseball broadcasts and are gonna pull out of it this winter.

  8. To be a good American patriot, am I supposed to buy a Ford made in Mexico, a Chevy made in Korea or a Toyota made in Kentucky? Just want to be sure I'm on the right team. 🤔

  9. I heard a player say they use 26 guys who play the full 27 outs. I think it was Malloy after he hit a game winning hit. Deflecting credit to other players...

  11. Even with the BP game today the Tigers have 6 BP arms available and a starter that has gone at least 5 in 7 of 9 starts. AJ and this staff are pretty much re-writing the book on how to design and manage a pitching staff.

  12. The one creep was kinda laughing at Todd Jones after the first game. He who laughs last, laughs best.

  13. It's always good to beat a good National League team two of three in their park—especially one that is arguing our biggest rival over there.

  14. I am absolutely amazed, especially after that first game. Wow. I would’ve been totally OK with a 1-2 series in St. Louis and the idea that we go and actually win the series 2-1 is just astonishing.

  26. Boston is 4.5 games out. If they slide further they might have a third baseman who essentially is in his contract year available.

  27. Late inning strikeout type bullpen help is really the only thing I’d be looking for. Potentially an end of the rotation experienced starter depending on injuries and how many innings they are willing to take Jobe to. I think they already have help coming back on the offense side of the house, although injuries could change that.

  34. Do you seriously think so? I think Papa Doc was a baseball-first guy. He may or may not have known the intricacies of comparative analysis when it comes to players, but I’d bet he knew Miggy was one of the bigger stars in the other league at that time.

  41. Workman isn't as young as those guys so not someone I would put in that group. I wouldn't be shocked to see Workman get a bus ride to Detroit once or twice. If I had to guess Workman is most likely because he's in AAA already. I think Campos has a significantly better chance than Pacheco though.

  42. This would be terrible. Briceno? Maybe. Not Dingler, a guy with five more years of control and a 2-3 win guy right now.

  43. I think the biggest problem with a transition to ABS is that 90% of MLB umps currently call a zone which is wider than the plate, and worse, it's not symmetric to both sides, the pitcher generally gets a couple inches to the outside relative to which ever side the batter is on. So the only way for ABS not to cause a big dislocation in the major league game is if the zone is set wider and shifts left and right at each batter - otherwise there is going to be a big jump in offense when hitters start spitting on all the outside pitches they can't reach that they they swing at now because they know will be called strikes anyway.
