I looked it up and this really is a thing. It explains SO much, I knew most MAGA weren't stupid;5 points

I’ll believe the A’s are settled when they’re settled in a new ballpark.4 points

Well, when Trump first ran for president there were several people on this site and elsewhere saying that he was a great businessman. That's what America needs. Well, businessmen have been running this country for a long time now. Just not always as president of the country. But true to his words, Trump is running this country the way he ran his businesses. Runs up a bunch on debt, then loots the **** out of the company before it goes under. With this new looting bill, he is well on his way to doing the same to the country.4 points

It gets posted here quite a bit. But nothing describes Tesla better than the Keynes quote.2 points

Wenceel Perez seems to be lost in the shuffle of the Tigers improvements from last season to this season, but he has looked much better in the field.2 points

And going back even farther, the Yankees have lost 15 of 21. They were 42-25 on June 12th, now they're 48-40.2 points

He wants to talk only baseball... Jason started laughing about the VERY LOUD voice of the plate umpire right at the start of the game... Adam joked once about it but within 10 seconds said: "We actually have a baseball game going on here..." So I think he already knew Jason's reputation... and made a move to cut him off before Jason wandered off-(game)-topic too far... Adam wants to... talk baseball.1 point

If you remove the references to Louisiana and Calvin Coolidge in Randy Newman's song "Louisiana 1927" and replace them with references to Texas's Hill Country and Donald Trump respectively, it lines up almost perfectly. He doesn't give a **** about any of those being impacted by these floods1 point

We can only be entirely ourselves as long as we are alone. Therefore, whoever does not love solitude also does not love freedom. For only when we are alone are we free.1 point

We drove past the A’s “stadium” construction site about 18 months or so ago. They hadn’t started doing anything with the hotel-casino there yet. It felt too small an area for one with no viable parking. I kind of get Vegas as a viable market but there seems to be a lot of competition for the tourist dollar there. The minor league team/stadium is too far out and too small to be viable with little room for expansion. The A’s are in the same boat as the Rays. Sell the team and hope someone smarter can make the necessary changes.1 point

The onboard is truly incredible. You can hear how much of it is in full throttle. There were an even a few points where he could even improve. He’s an incredible talent. I’d love to see him take on the ultimate challenge in all of F1…drive the other Red Bull car. 😂1 point

This from our friend, AI. During their time playing at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, the team will simply be known as the Athletics or the A's, with the approved designation for official references being "ATH". The A's vice chairman, Sandy Dean, explained that this decision was made out of respect, recognizing the temporary nature of their presence in Sacramento. The team's brand guidelines specify that the city name will not be used on the front of team jerseys. While some Sacramento residents may find the decision not to incorporate the city name into the team's branding disrespectful, the intention is to avoid establishing a strong connection to Sacramento that would be severed upon the team's eventual move to Las Vegas. *********** The most encouraging takeaway from the link Bert provided is that there is a growing realization that Las Vegas may not be happening. I agree with all A’s fans, SELL THE TEAM!!!1 point

What a lap by Max to take the pole. Great runs like that show Max is probably the best driver we've seen since Ayrton Senna.1 point

yesterday's bill directed target multiple core Tesla's business lines. it is not just the 7,500 EV credit; the new fines for automakers not meeting cafe standards is $0.00 Tesla made MORE selling cafe credits than it did selling cars last quarter; are other companies really going to spend millions to avoid a fine of zero? i think the Tesla board might have to remove the guy who just spent over $250,000,000 of his own money to get a guy elected who promised to destroy the EV industry, and is now doing so - any other CEO would be bounced for that the irrational exuberance that has surrounded Tesla is breaking IMHO1 point

Thank you for posting this. Very good update on the Fisher debacle. Manfred being complicit in this failed scheme is shameful. At least Stu Sternberg knew when the ruse was up. I can’t believe, according to this piece, that the A’s are valued the same as the Orioles were when they were for sale.1 point

Winning and drafting lower takes the intensity and pressure off for the draft. I trust the front office to make an informed selection. It is exciting that we also have the 35th sick1 point

Guess what happened again tonight? The Tigers and each of the top four minor league teams won. This makes the 21st time that the org has achieved the Quintuple Lindy this season.1 point

I have to say...I was at fireworks here in VA and the cell signal was so bad where I was at that I couldn't follow after the change from Olson to Holton. I am so happy to click here and see this! I don't even need to know the score or who did what.1 point

I know Cleveland’s been struggling, and I know their hitting isn’t great, but just out of habit I’m always biting my nails every time we play them. Nice inning by Holton there just now.1 point

Sports leagues used to equate gambling to evil. Until they all sold their souls when they realized the revenue it could bring them. The sponsorships are all gambling now. It's not just Beasley in the nba and Ortiz in MLB.1 point

I actually have a friend who tells a story from years ago that someone told him to watch a random pitch in say the 5th ending would go to the backstop and he watched the game and it happened. it doesn’t mean the whole game is fixed (like my friend believes) but you can see how people can make a lot of $ on random things you wouldn’t expect and previously wouldn’t be caught. If it happened years ago, I’m certain it’s going on now.1 point

To be honest, I had no idea people could bet on the outcome of a single pitch. I guess they have to bet quick because of the pitch clock...lol1 point

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2025/jul/02/athletics-las-vegas-stadium-john-fisher-mlb-debacle?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other This is worth reading. The Guardian newspaper reports the outlook for the new Las Vegas stadium is not as rosy as alleged. It explains that financing for the stadium is highly problematic, due to rising construction costs in Vegas, and to the deficient acumen in these matters attributed to the Athletics owner.1 point

I’ll take Clark every day, even without the McGonigle signing. Max is everything this team needs—legit high OBP guy with speed and will provide the perfect defense for Comerica. His arm will let him play RF, if they elect to keep Parker in CF. Will basically be 3 centerfielders, with Greene. He’ll be worth the wait.1 point
