  1. Fantastic game for Mize and so nice to see a game without betting odds all over the screen.

  6. This game feels as unlikely as if the Vulcans landed, solved all our problems, and gave us warp drive.

  7. victory has a thousand fathers and failure is an orphan. this could all change when we know more, but it looks like the local response that we often see in these cases "Blame the feds!" may not be true. I think the issue with the government is this: government works. full stop. it is worth it to have bridges not collapsing, food not poisoned, and natural disasters' death toll limited. the DOGE issue is this: none of these morons have the required knowledge to know what is and what is not a good and efficient system. for example, I do not test raw chicken and meat at my home - I leave that the USDA inspectors. DOGE has no knowledge in this area at all.

  8. He’s a prospect. Most wash out and most won’t even reach their ceilings. However, when they do, it’s exciting, but I doubt anyone can reliably predict who it’s going to be. That’s why you collect as many as you can.

  9. I’m re-watching this part of the game where the Tigers had Zach on third base two outs and the crowd was standing in Cleveland because Parker Meadows was one strike away from ending the game… And then the Vulcans appeared over Progressive Field.

  13. corny to say, but this team battles and battles, maybe they win this game, maybe they lose but really love this team

  14. Exactly. Most people would agree that waste and corruption should be cut wherever possible. However, the people making decisions do not know how to identify what is needed and not needed and they don't seem to care. They are just indiscriminately whacking areas - like health care, science and education - that MAGA doesn't like.

  15. I really connect to that quote and it’s interesting how a disconnect from the world can suffuse one’s experience with authenticity. But there can be different responses to it. Thomas Merton, for instance, went into deep contemplative solitude and when he came out of it 20 years later and was standing on a street corner in Louisville he experienced a deep radiance regarding both the perfections and imperfections of the world as indissolubly nourishing. The villainy and the kindness needed each other. He realized that he never really needed to escape from the world, but he had to escape from the world to know this. Anyway, thanks for sharing this quote.

  17. Well, Jason did his part today on the broadcast to get him a spot. Would have been great had he been chosen.

  24. Skubal's combination of sinker/change gets them worried about swinging above everything which leave them wide open to swinging under the high 4 seamer. I don't know if it's because it's just harder to do or because back in the day it ran counter to conventional wisdom, but I don't remember a lot of guys throwing both 2 seam and 4 seam fastballs in the past like they do now.

  26. So here is one I've never seen before. Minor league game, bases loaded. Batter hits a ground ball to short which is a tailor made DP ball. Runner on 2nd fields the ball, giving himself up via interference but preventing the double play. Umps did make the runner who went home go back to 3rd. 🤣

  36. Not trying to be Orioles GM Elias and all but I hope we keep our farm intact this deadline unless the return has multiple years of control. Relief pitchers on expiring contracts should not require over pay. So glad it’s Scottie and not Al at the wheel.
