  1. Ain’t nothing a 6-2 finish to the season won’t cure.

  2. Harris isn’t going anywhere either, and Dave Dombrowski is still otherwise gainfully employed. Harris has done an amazing job getting this franchise into a position to be a perennial contender, and well beyond just getting a few decent prospects in the farm system now. It’s really that version of the Tigers he has been building towards, and that version is not here yet, so they’re not about to fire everyone, blow up the franchise, and start over now. This version was never meant to be the pennant or bust team. This version, last year and this, was always playing with house money. Many if not most of these guys won’t even be here in three years.

  3. The church Trump reported attended while growing up was pastored by Rev Norman Vincent Peale. Peale made a ton of money with his book The Power of Positive Thinking. Peale was also one of the earlier proponents of the Prosperity Gospel. Which IMO clashes with everything I was taught in Sunday School. It's focused too much on Self, Success and Psychology rather than teaching grace, humility, suffering and the effects of too much wealth. I was taught that grace without works is dead.

  4. It's too early to lament where we are or what to do this off season. We have a game tomorrow as the first place team in the Central division.

  5. And really, this is the silver lining in this whole debacle. If this was something like the 2014 team, a team that was at the end of the line, I’d be in despair for this franchise right now. But I’m not. Even if I am disappointed by what happens this season, I am still excited to be a fan of this franchise—that is assuming they don’t do anything stupid like fire Harris and Hinch, blow up the science departments, and start the whole damn thing all over in a new direction. 😉

  6. I think Hinch has gotten as much out of this team the past few years as any manager could, He's not the problem.

  7. I think you’re right on here. If we can’t ride an emotional comeback like we had today to a win—if we’re gonna end up blowing it in the ninth the way we did—then I don’t know how we can hold on and even go to the playoffs, let alone win the division. YMMV, but me, I am getting myself mentally prepared to miss the playoffs. I suspect they will have me hanging on by my fingernails next Sunday when it can still go either way all the way to the bitter end, but for my own mental health, I need to rip the band-aid off now.

  12. Joe may have been slowing down, but the comparison to Trump isn’t apples to oranges, it’s watermelons to raisins. On his very best day, the Orange Man who shall remain nameless has never had an actual educated understanding of foreign affairs, domestic policy, or humanitarian endeavors and how these policies shape our world militarily, politically, and financially…. And all three also needed a good dose of empathy to garner the highest level of success for/and/to ALL entities involved in this world. And, no one can tell me otherwise, without a giant smirk on their face, that they think the Donald’s rants are anything but incredibly embarrassing and mostly populated with a ridiculous amount of straightout lies of the stupidest nature. if you were sitting in a board room, and this was your manager, and he was popping off with the dumb ass reason Dijour of why you should fall to your knees and kiss his ass, I believe 98% of you would pull your knees off the floor brush them off turn around and leave the room. But for some reason, you’re all hanging in with this nonsense that’s going on. Tis a puzzlement…. as the king of Siam would say. surely there has to be a limit to what you’re willing to incorporate into your psyche when you know they are nothing but lies. Surely there must truly be a straw that will break the camels back.

  13. The guy that plays some third base in that movie is Phil Mankowski. Mankowski played some third base in the mid to late seventies in Detroit. He was there when Sparky came in. Phil is one of our neighbors. He’s a really nice guy and still likes to talk Tiger baseball.

  14. There just might be hope for Michigan football this year after all. I thought they look good today on both sides of the ball. The hail mary BS aside, their defense looked really good. The front 7 was aggressive and attacked with a pass rush that got home all day. I hadn't realized we were up to 7 sacks today, so damn impressive outing by the front 7. Maybe it turns out that Nebraska just isn't that good in the end. But this felt luke a big win for Michigan. A win that sends a statement to others in the Big Ten that we've got a good team that you'll need to respect and take seriously. If I'm Ryan Day I'm certainly dropping a few F bombs and am worried now. You couldn't beat Michigan when they were limping around last year, watch out this year.

  15. Had a long chat with a buddy who spends quite a bit of time in the Pentagon working a program of high complexity and strategic relevance. He says he has to say goodbye each time he leaves work because he isn't sure which person will be missing when he returns. Because Hegseth. Because Trump.

  17. He inherited Skubal, Mize, Olson, Jobe, Greene, Torkelson, Meadows, Keith, Rogers, Dingler...not really that big of a mess. Maybe Avila had terrible organizational skills but the talent that made the playoffs last year and the talent that is close this year was what Harris inherited.

  18. "When Scott Harris was hired he inherited a mess. Since then he has increased their win total every year. From 66 to 78 in 2023. Then to 86 in 2024. Then to 87 in 2025 if they manage to go 2-5 the rest of the way. What more can you ask for!"

  21. I am luke warm on Harris. He got lucky that the guys Avila drafted have turned out to be serviceable mlbers. What has he really done for the Tiger roster? You can point to these supposedly future hall of famers in AA, but the core of the team are Avila players. Greene, Tork, Skubal, Mize...even Meadows, Baez, Dingler, Keith, Rogers, Olson, and Jobe. Harris has Sweeney, Maeda, Cobb, Vierling, Torres, Canha, and Flaherty. Torres has been great but everyone knew he would be. Flaherty is a roller coaster. Vierling is injured all the time. Sweeney has no business being in the majors. Cobb and Maeda...nothing to see here. The relief pitchers are mostly his but they are constantly being turned over and are kind of a crap shoot anyway.

  22. It may not have mattered. Cept with a spark or just knowing they tried. An extra bat and arm still wouldn't be enough. They needed a lot more.

  26. A quick Google check shows that of the 294 stations Sinclair owns or has a marketing agreement, only 38 are ABC affiliates. Nextar btw owns about 200 stations 23 are ABC affiliates. I think ABC has the power of the purse strings if and when it comes time to renegotiate affiliation agreements

  31. I don’t want beat up on this team or blame anyone in the front office or players on the field. They vastly exceeded expectations for a considerable period of time so their stumbles now in comparison seem inexplicable, even treasonous. The endorphin and dopamine rushes I’ve got from this ball club for over a year are dizzying. The Tigers are like Icarus from Greek mythology who flew too close to the sun with wings made of feathers and wax, causing the wax to melt and him to fall into the sea and drown. The Tigers, though, are not dead yet. I think in general, I just need to be grateful for the joy they’ve given me for most of the last year. It’s actually childish to lash out. I’m old enough to know better and actually I’m kind of sobering up in this regard.
