So, the Tigers won't be playing on my birthday tomorrow, but they are still alive on my birthday. That is my marker for a great season. I'll celebrate on Friday.

I think Skubal will be open to a return. And I believe the Tigers will make a reasonable effort to retain him. However, I think what he’ll command and get will be unreasonable and he’ll ultimately be overpaid by someone else. It won’t be because the Tigers are cheap (always a lazy, false narrative) or because Skubal was greedy. Just business.

I can't believe some people wanted Harris to be more aggressive at the trade deadline or callup Kevin McGonigle with a lineup like this. Who wanted that to happen?

I hope they're still around for my birthday on Saturday.

I don’t understand the no confidence in Mize. He’s considerably more consistent and effective than Flaherty and most of the bullpen.

I expect AJ to panic and go to Holton early even though Mize is pitching fine. Then Holton will get no more than 2 innings and we will have to rely on Montero/Kahnle/Finnegan to get us through the next 3 innings—which won’t go well.

How can it not be? When you are out there pitching your ass off and you give up 2-3 runs at most and that is a hole your lineup can't dig itself out of, I don't see how that isn't demoralizing. You basically have to try and pitch flawless baseball every time because the lineup behind you is filled with the likes of Kimera Bartee, Melvin Nieves, and Paul Bako.

Hinch deserves way more responsibility for the state of this team than he is being given.

I don't like to be critical of Hinch, but that was a really quick hook. Mize was doing fine and it's not like they have a great bullpen which is going to shut them down for six innings.

Who says the Holton innings wont be bad?

Taking Mize out at this point would be dumb. So I expect him to be done.

It’s definitely radical leftist taggers. I’m not sure many are aware but this community is highly politically motivated. They aren’t as much about high visibility targets that will attract the most attention but about using their cryptic writing style to send definitive political statements.

Win or lose, I hope the fans give the Tigers a nice send-off. It was a fun season this year and we all should appreciate the effort and the joy of having a relevant team. We could all play the "What could have been" game but not a single fan had any control of which direction the team goes. It...is what it is. 😆

i think having the younger players on the team gives them a better chance to make the playoffs. i'm not saying they'll make it, but they have a better chance if they get improvements internally from younger players than relying on older average players to continue to be average.

Whatever happens, I'm happy they eliminated Cleveland. Seems like someone told Riley he had 30 HR and 100 RBI, and he said it is what it is, and his brain took the rest of the season off.

The Tigers have score 6 runs in 15 of Mize's games this year.

I get the argument about not beating anybody good but I also think in the NFL "style points" should mean something. The Lions don't just squeak by they dominate these teams, I don't care the who the team is in the NFL that simply doesn't happen on a regular basis unless you are an elite team unlike in college fb. I remember the 07 Pats used to do that and they are the last team that comes to mind that had as many lopsided affairs as we have on a regular basis. Also its not like this team has no track record, have the best record in football the past 2+ yrs with most of the same pieces so that should carry some weight.

Is Blumenthal running for anything anyone here is voting for? What do I care what he did? Or what Dubya did or didn't do - his last election was 20 yrs ago. The guys in the present tense are all bad enough. We haven't actually had a combat vet in the WH since GHWB and most of the country wasn't even born then. And the one combat vet who has run since then had a couple of slightly loose screws (John "I'm suspending my Campaign and Sarah Palin is a great pick" McCain) And we've had two guys that ducked service completely since. Let's stipulate a lot of jerks have been elected, that military service doesn't necessarily improve a president anyway, and then maybe resolve to do better?

I get emotional about that game every time I see it. Maybe it was because of my age at the time, but it was the most unforgettable game I have ever seen - better than the Ordonez homer, better than the Gibson homer, better than any of the no hitters,...

I think he is just hoping everything works out and he just gets lucky...kind of like the last 2 years. He really has done barely anything to make the mlb team better. He inherited a group of players that made the playoffs 2 years in a row. And his guys are still in the minors so he has at least 4 or 5 years before he would get fired.

I wish he would have shown the footage of him at the last game at Tiger Stadium. The crowd roared for him and rightfully so. My only cherished item in this world is the baseball he autographed for me. I could lose all my earthly possessions but that is the only thing that would make me truly sad if I no longer had it. I can replace anything else I own but that ball is a one-of-a-kind and it cannot ever be replaced.

This plus I don’t need to hear Carpenter give a sermon every time he’s interviewed. Seeing Skubal in an American flag skullcap or whatever it’s called. We know he’s MAGA. Hunch is an overrated manager who had success with a loaded Astros team that cheated. I do give him some credit because I don’t think this Tigers team is as talented as their record. Greene has hit some HR but I’m tired of seeing him constantly just take big hacks at every pitch. I also don’t like Benetti. Maybe don’t like us too strong, but I could do without his Lewis 2.0 routine. I also hate the Illitch family as they are nothing but slumlords. At least Mike spent on the Tigers.
