I know a lot of people aren’t interested in this WS but, for me, it’s the last gasp of my favorite sport until spring. I hope Toronto wins and, if they don’t sweep/embarrass the Dodgers, then I selfishly hope it goes to 7.3 points

Agreed. My hope for any series in which I have no skin in the game is that it goes seven games and the tying run comes to the plate in the ninth inning of Game 7. In this case, I feel a little skin in the game as I am actively rooting for the Blue Jays—or, more exactly, against the Dodgers.2 points

What a colossal waste of time learning about Teapot Dome in my history classes. Forget scandal, this wouldn’t even be investigated as a crime nowadays.2 points

Everyone talks about that great game Ohtani had, but Vlad Guerrero is hitting .447 with an OBP of .596 and 6 HR in the postseason. Wow. Guess he was worth that contract, eh?2 points

Hear that NFL? Rig it for the new most popular team in the league.1 point

Maybe that's who I was thinking of rather than Brantley? Edit: Yes, its actually Brantly and he was traded by the Tigers to the Marlins. July 23, 2012: Traded by the Detroit Tigers with Brian Flynn and Jacob Turner to the Miami Marlins for Omar Infante and Aníbal Sánchez.1 point

The dispersed rallies were basically that. People with their Soros-purchased signs carefully-made-to-look-handmade just walking around talking and gathering fellowship.1 point

https://theconversation.com/friday-essay-trumps-reign-fits-curtis-yarvins-blueprint-of-a-ceo-led-american-monarchy-what-is-technological-fascism-256202 Scary stuff. It's nice to think they'll give us universal basic income once our jobs are gone but that is not the plan. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtis_Yarvin Goodbye freedom. The plan is slavery.1 point

Go crazy folks, go crazy! Blue Jays win the first game of the World Series! Go crazy!1 point

Very impressive win. Ivey and LeVert out. Duren gets ejected in the 2nd quarter. Holland and Stewart both fouled out with over 10 minutes left in the game, and they still find a way to win.1 point

I miss that. We had one guy who grilled hot dogs and had beer for the adults. I know it ranks below ball park hot dogs, everything does, but I think trick or treating hot dogs are higher than Home Depot hot dogs.1 point

Definitely a house down the street that hands out nips to parents as they come by. It's very welcome at that point in the journey.1 point

They have nobody to handle the ball other than Cade and Thompson. Why is Jenkins not dressed/playing?1 point

I used to work with a guy like Jamie; Thought the world revolved around him. He’d trip on stairs, land two flights up with a dozen donuts in one hand and a gourmet coffee in the other. Only child with a rich dad and behaved exactly as you’d expect. People cheered when he left.1 point

What's the "like" link? I just googled the term and I'm coming up dry for anything close to what you probably mean.1 point

I thought I knew everything about the Fidrych '76 season but Pearlman pointed out a couple of big things I missed. I didn't realize he had made a 1-inning appearance in relief against Baltimore before his first start vs. Cleveland. I didn't realize he had drawn 36k vs the Angels prior to the famous Monday night game. I got emotional watching that video. I have said it on this board before but I'll say it again: June 28, 1976 was hands-down the most memorable day of my childhood and if a time machine could bring me back to one moment in time that would be it. Last day of 3rd grade was the Friday before. I was turning 9 two days later. We held my birthday party in the lower deck in left field at that Yankees-Tigers televised game. Brought a few friends, one with whom I remain close friends to this day, gradually drifted apart from the other two but still remember them well. A few close family members came along, a couple who are still alive and important in my life today, a couple who have since passed away. Whenever I see the replay of that game and whenever they pan to the crowd, I keep hoping that I'll spot our group on camera even though I've seen the footage multiple times. I'll never forget the curtain call moment, because those were rare back then and we didn't even know for sure whether Fidrych was hearing about the cheers and would come back out - the moment he popped back was honestly as exciting to me as the final out of the '84 Series.1 point

I wish he would have shown the footage of him at the last game at Tiger Stadium. The crowd roared for him and rightfully so. My only cherished item in this world is the baseball he autographed for me. I could lose all my earthly possessions but that is the only thing that would make me truly sad if I no longer had it. I can replace anything else I own but that ball is a one-of-a-kind and it cannot ever be replaced.1 point

I don't how "defund the police", as though that were even a real thing, qualifies as socialism, since the whole idea contemplates spending less government money, not more. In any event, everyone knows that Trump is the real socialist.0 points

That makes a lot of sense. You are right though, they don’t want to be the gambler. I didn’t think about that and was only focused on avoiding governmental intervention. They could tweak their odds on over props so they are more in the favor. Rather than have Cade at 45 points, they have him at 25 points for -230 odds. Sharps wouldn’t play these markets but there’s so many other fish out there that would.0 points
