take that up with your overlords that you worship and can't stop gushing about, the ones you spent 2 years telling us were the greatest people since Lincoln. They did this. Not us. They're murderous scum and you enabled it and endorsed it.6 points

So now the government will be shut down over American citizens being executed in the streets in full view of multiple cameras, all with different angles? While MAGA lies and blames the victims? This ends all the talk of shutting down the government over the health care subsidies or shutting it down for the Espstein Files. I say make it a 3 headed shutdown. Insist on defunding ICE, in its current form. Insist on ALL of the Epstein Files being released. And finally, insist on the Health care subsidies to be restored.4 points

Anytime a MAGA tries to pretend they are manly or lecture others about what a real man is about... it's not MAGA. They think they are macho tough guys but everyone knows better. I'm not talking about ICE. I'm talking about men who still support Donald Trump.4 points

We are heartbroken but also very angry. "Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman. "The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump's murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed. "Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you."3 points

I find it funny that murder didn't incite you to post (someone that hardly posts here) but when you thought some random immigration number might be wrong, that motivated you to finally post. As if you can trust any numbers from this ****ing government anymore. Since you know, he fires anyone that gives accurate data on his ****ed up administration. Always find it funny when MAGA pretends to care about facts.2 points

On the Silver trade; Not shown in the image; To the bold; those playing this leveraged ETF are playing a very dangerous game and a good way to get their face ripped off. That ETF trades at twice the percentage of the underlying asset, in this case Silver Futures. That also means you can lose 2X faster. Beware...2 points

I will say, though, that while Maine is mostly white-there are parts of it that do have a fair number of immigrants (such as Portland/Lewiston, the area being targeted). And the cruelty is just as bad as in the larger metro areas. It has the oh so cute title of Operation Catch of the Day. It all needs to stop. Now.2 points

Maine is one of the whitest states in the country and about as far away from Mexico as you can get. ICE is only there because their uppity governor didn’t know her place.2 points

I agree he should not have been shot, it was terrible. My Dad worked at a VA for 30 years. The fact he was a VA ICU nurse is very commendable as they get paid crap compared an average ICU nurse in the private sector. A very avoidable scenario and everyone involved should be prosecuted.2 points

It's totally surprising (in a completely "not surprising at all" kinda way) that our guy Holic cannot address how his parents woke up on a normal Saturday morning and, by the end of the day, had witnessed their son killed and his name slandered and dragged through the mud by this government. The silence kinda says it all One little repost from an organization whose board is stacked with people who owe their jobs to this administration doesn't change how horrific that is. Just as all the Mario Nawfal reposts on many other topics don't change anything either.2 points

Worth noting that Trump overhauled the board in Spring 2025 by firing all 12 of Biden's appointees and replaced them with cronies. So yeah, not clear to me whether they are really impartial on any of this2 points

SY will have as many as two more chances to get Hughes...when the Wild realize this summer that he won't sign with them, they will possibly want to move him. When they don't sign him and he becomes a free agent, Sy can swoop in and make him an offer.1 point

Reasonable. My contempt for the agency is tempered by my experiences with US Secret Service people i worked with in the past. They hated their agency and the job sucked. But, being a federal agent is intoxicating. The suspect types among them ended up working security at casinos. Which should tell you all you need to know. Others were high quality folks in my reckoning. Perhaps there are some good folks in ICE and CBP. Maybe.1 point

They want to talk off the record, that's fine. I'm can't fault them for that as some would. But saying they still support the administration but this was only a bad apple? Horse****. This shooter was carrying out the directives of everyone above him from the president on down, and it doesn't have to be as specific as "shoot this one unarmed white guy ten times to show everyone you mean business." They were told by the guy at the very top to be tough, they were praised for being tough, and they were allowed to amp it up by increments until executing people on the street in broad daylight became the inevitable next step. In fact, the guy at the very top said that one very violent day of policing will end crime forever. So, pardon me if I'm a bit skeptical about how horrified the guys being quoted in that story imply they are about the tactics being employed. They strike me as mad because it's the incompetents who are carrying it out amateurishly, instead of seasoned agents who are able to carry it out professionally and, presumably, surreptitiously.1 point

I think the world would be better off without crypto, but from an investment standpoint, Bitcoin is fundamentally no different than gold. It's a thing with a limited supply whose intrinsic value has nothing (or at least little) at all to do with the price it is traded at. Gold is only worth $5000 as long as there are people out there who believe it is, Bitcoin is worth exactly what is it as long as there are people out there that believe it is. One difference is that since culture has valued gold for thousands of years, even if the assigned value was largely cultural fantasy, you may have higher confidence that people will continue to hold their strange belief that a lump of soft yellow metal holds value beyond the price to mine it. If crypto hangs around long enough, and becomes culturally inculcated enough, then it may reach a point where people can have as much confidence in it as in gold (already has for some obviously). OTOH, if people stop believing in crypto's value, it could lose all it's value tomorrow, which could be worse for an investor than the price of gold collapsing to the price to mine it - as that does provide a floor. But on the other hand, crypto (at least Bitcoin) is better than gold in one respect, because when there is a long term run up in the price of gold, people will find ways to mine more, which will force down the inflation adjusted price while in theory, the absolute quantity of Bitcoin is supposed to be capped for all time. Between that and the cost to secure it, it means gold is seldom a good long term play. Gold fans point to gold outpacing inflation long term, but you generally have to back to before the price was controlled to see a big positive result. If you allow for the fact that the price was artificially depressed before the Bretton Woods system was abandoned and start the comparison clock in ~1980 after the inital post price control run up, total returns on gold through last year barely outpaced inflation, and since most people that own it have to pay to store it, even that increment is questionable. In any case, I don't own either, and I'd be pleasantly amused if crypto were to collapse and disappear, but while I once believed that was inevitable, I would no longer bet it will happen. The funny thing is that so many people believe this different than good old dollars. But it isn't. Crypto is not different than dollars in the sense that it's value is exactly what people believe it to be. The big difference is that since the Federal Reserve is able to control the numbers of dollars in circulation, they can actually try to keep it's value controlled (whether they do or do well can of course be argued) whereas you at the total mercy of the animal spirits of the investment mob (and/or mining discoveries in the case of gold) as to what your gold or bitcoin holdings are worth each day.1 point

That's a thankworthy post. Worth reiterating that Trump is acting in certain places not necessarily because of who lives there—although that's a bonus—but because of how much he hates who runs them.1 point

I am with you on feeling some initial relief, but I won't be happily surprised until I see how it actually shakes out. Just in the past few hours, we saw how Bovino is not getting fired, but rather reassigned and, bonus, praised by the Trump White House as a "great American". That tells me they believe in the man, and in the mission, but he's simply not the right face for it. They might believe they simply need a new face, someone who can be murderous when they want him to be, which is mostly, and charming when they believe the public needs to see him be, which is sometimes. Someone who can both kill and disarm with his smile. I will be interested to see who they can come with up to fill that bill, although I'm guessing it won't be an oathkeeper or a three percenter. OTOH, replacing Bovno with a militia hothead leader would be classic Trumpian doubling down, wouldn't it?1 point

The murder is obviously the biggest travesty, but I can't get around the constant lying and victim blaming Don't understand how any self-respecting person can trust or believe anything this government says going forward given how they lied through their teeth about Alex Pretti.1 point

Great question, and my quick answer is I have no idea. Here's what it looked like today. Daily 1 minute chart. It took a **** at 12:04 just after hitting the daily high of $117.7. Went down to 101.7 and has recovered some since. Still trading as I type this. I don't follow the metal trading much, but it's different. Physical price vs. paper price and all that. Seems the gold people follow the Comex exchange. I will bet you one thing though, some make a **** load of money, and others got their ass handed to them. It moved 10-12 percent in about 3 1/2 hours - to the downside. That's a huge swing in a short period of time. Then again, as a trader you are looking at this hockey stick and know damn well it won't last forever - what is your plan to pull the rip-cord? That's on you. Some of the day/swing/metal traders today might have took a beating, especially with leverage/margin.1 point

We are seeing the result of Trump having chased so many reasonably sane people that used to be in his orbit out of it. Oddly enough probably none with worse result than Ivanka, who being family was someone he would actually listen to, and who, despite being a spoiled wannabe, doesn't to seem to have inherited the Trump crazy gene. Of course that's no doubt the very reason she has gone to earth this term.1 point

In a complete vacuum would I swap Edvinsson for Hughes? Sure, you would be dumb not to. But there are so many other considerations that go into this. The trade wasn't a one for one swap, there was a lot of value in addition to Buium in Rossi and a first round pick going the other way. Edvinsson is 4 years younger and is a restricted free agent after this season, with a projected long term deal at 7 years $7,700,000 per that I've seen. Hughes wouldn't commit to a long term contract (or couldn't? I never really looked into it) and he's a free agent after next season looking at a $12-14 million per year or more extension. So you're risking a guy walking for nothing, and if you do get him signed it is going to be at a significant cost of your cap space. Edvinsson has shown he works incredibly well with Seider on the top pair. He seems to be well liked by his teammates and coaching staff. I feel like I see him getting better and he seems to work hard. I am more than fine betting on his situation here. Especially when the Wings would still need to go out and get defensive help for the third pair imo. Swapping Hughes in for Edvinsson isn't going to completely alleviate that this season even if you force feed minutes to Hughes. And it isn't like suddenly the Wild are some unstoppable juggernaut with Hughes as they've gone 11-5-5 so just a game over .500 counting wins and losses. Somehow got spanked by the Devils and Jets back to back. So I reject the notion that this is the only way to navigate the current successful season.1 point

Edvinsson is a top pair Defenseman at a young age. He’s a stud. Guys like him don’t grow on trees but they are around across the league. There’s one other player in the league like Quinn Hughes. He’s a very unique talent that eats up minutes and is not even close to a liability in his end. I don’t get valuing a great defenseman over an elite one. I can’t even imagine him on the PP with Larkin, Raymond, Seider, and Cat. Lethal. What about 3 on 3 OT.1 point
-
edvinsson is a big, young, strong actual defenseman. hughes is a forward playing defense. edvinsson should be able to be re-signed by detroit for long term. hughes is not signing and is likely to leave than to stay. hughes is a great player, but edvinsson's development combined with the uncertainty about re-signing hughes would make me balk at including edvinsson in any deal. i'd rather have edvinsson than zeev buium too.1 point
