  1. Have fond memories of the city of Boston in which I spent a wonderful summer in 1971 when I was 19 years old on Fort Hill in Roxbury. At the top of the hill, there were all these once elegant stone buildings some of which were occupied by a local cult called the Avatars presided over by a guru named Mel Lyman. The avatars avoided us all because we were unclean. They avoided everybody because everybody was unclean. I spent the summer eating free government cheese, selling the Boston Phoenix, newspaper, and going to concerts on the Boston Common where I saw Leon Russell, Joan Baez, and the Allman Brothers at a time when Duane Allman and Berry Oakley were still alive. I still hold the city of Boston close to my heart 55 years later.

  5. psssst....some of us have been saying this all year long. jenkins is a nice story, but he'll be exposed when other teams pick it up. the team has no spacing and the duren/cade lob action is easily stopped in the playoffs. duncan cant guard and is past his prime. will be exposed in the playoffs. JB is a great regular season coach, but was fired from cleveland because he cant get it done in the post season. This was the year to make a move to get a star. instead they traded for heurter and now have to pay duren. how is the team going to be with duren as their second highest paid player? JB's hatred for ausar is a fireable offense.

  12. I can do a 35s 200m, barely. I would have to be full out to even approach a 70s 400m and likely would fail. No way I can do a 2:20 800m. So if I sprinted I might have a chance of keeping up with the leaders for the first 1 minute out of a 121 minute race, lol.

  14. I've thought of that but Flaherty is useless in the pen. Not even for long relief, if he can't throw strikes.

  16. ausar played 9 second half minutes. jenkins played 16. he's looking for shooting to spread out orlando, and since his boss refused to get him any shooting, he's turning to a g-league player to get it (because duncan or huerter or lavert (!) were giving us nothing). as most knowledgeable pistons fans will attest, this team scores off its defense. when you take ausar away in some desperate search for shooting/spacing, you are playing away from your strengths. out. coached.

  19. But coaching decisions are a big part of how well a team runs the bases, no way to separate them.

  21. They've had some dumb sends home, which is a reflection on Cora rather than the team's base running ability.

  22. Its not about interference, it's the opposite. It's so fans can experience both. The idea is fans can leave the game and about a mile away to see people finish.

  23. Noticed a comment elsewhere in the Michigan Men's BB thread about U-M's regents being "anti-semitic" which was read by me at roughly the same time as reading headline about Ohio University (not TOSU) students having a poll that was 86% against Israel. Israel having just dragged the dumbest and most craven US Presidents into a war after failing to convince the previous several US Presidents to do the same. Israel having just stomped all over the people who also claim their land who did horrible terroristic things. You can't conflate the two. The European Jewish people have the long history of oppression leading to the Holocaust. The Holocaust happened. It was horrible. Beyond horrible. As horrible as any of the 20th century's other horrors (i.e., Stalin's Holodomor and others, the Armenian genocide, Cambodia, all of Mao's horrors, Rwanda). Certain very powerful evangelicals trying to make Jesus come earlier and the manipulation of same by certain Israeli leaders is creating a horror all its own. People who have ethics and view the World (in its current form) as their project to reform and protect are naturally going to be against genocide.

  24. All of this plus more. Javonte only plays 5 minutes in this game even though he and Ausar were the only spark in the 1st half. He had 2 steals and was +4 on the court. Yet Tobias gets 36 minutes going 1-7 from three and 5-15 from the field with 3 turnovers and can't guard anyone. To make it more painful Tobias' missed threes were from the corners...y'know, the spot where Javonte shoots 50%. Stew with only 19 minutes in a game where JD is absolute garbage is a crime almost as bad as Ausar only getting 25 minutes. JD with 33 minutes and only 8 point and 7 rebounds. He had 3 turnovers, couldn't guard anyone, and was a team low -21. Meanwhile Stew was a +6 in his minutes. We knew this was coming from JB in the playoffs. Wasted a 39 pt game from Cade.

  25. you should be more concerned with the anti-semitic candidates who will be sitting on your board soon. says a lot about the democratic party as a whole, and the university of michigan's future.

  26. 3 of the 5 starters were useless. People will look at Harris with 17, but he needed 15 shots to get it, that's not good. The 4th starter was limited in minutes by the coach for some reason. Ausar at 25 minutes is an absolute joke. Jenkins was awful the entire game. Couldn't score, didn't defend well. Shot 50% from the line. Cad and Harris were the only two players in double digits for scoring. Two players. Coaching was terrible. Dumb rotations, not challenging at the right time, and just bizarre strategy. Bane and Suggs both had 3 fouls early in the third quarter. They should have put those guys in some sort of PnR situation every time down the court. I can barely remember them doing that at all. Suggs picked up his 5th and they still didn't go at him. Best case he fouls out. Worst case he gives up a soft hoop not wanting to get #6. Either way, you win. Horrific coaching not going after those guys.

  27. Just terrible coaching. How do you kiss that challenge? Why sit Ausar when you bring in Stew? You can’t have 2 guys who can play D on the court at once?

  28. Javonte and Ausar kept us alive in the first half. Ausar on the bench and Javonte hasn’t seen the court in the second half.

  32. No, no way. The Pitt is an outstanding show but comparing anything to BB/BCS/Sopranos/The Wire in my book is like comparing a rookie to Babe Ruth, Willie Mays or Sandy Koufax. It's just not fair. I think TV really started to change with one show in 1981 - Hill Street Blues. As far as I can recall that was the first cop show where the cops didn't always get the bad guy and sometimes the cops WERE the bad guys. Maybe intentionally (Cheif Daniels, Sal Benedetto) or screw up with heart in the right placye (J.D.LaRue). Then a couple years later came St. Elsewhere - where the doctors didn't always save the patient (previously the patient ALWAYS got saved). If you were a patient the first season of St. Elsehwere, you needed to update your will. Then TV went to another extreme in the 90s where the bad guys becaume the lead characters and the writers got you to sympathise with them - and that's when TV got really good. To black hat/white hat so much, just a lot of grey, really intense grey. The editing on Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul and the Sopranos was as good, if not better, than any major theatrical film. Face it, Breaking Bad was basically a 60 hour movie.
