Please stop. The Tigers made the playoffs because of both Avila and Harris. Can we move on?8 points

It’s logically and morally impossible for anyone to defend this admin and it’s people in a serious way. That’s why the forum lost all of its right leaners or they don’t post. They know they would get destroyed with reason and fact. The intellectual wing left the Republican Party. All that’s left are kooks, trolls, and grifters.8 points

I don't think it's that.... I think they're just being assholes in general. "They" did something different so we have to change it back because whatever reason they had for doing it was "woke". They would cut their own dicks off if it "owned the libs". That's how stupid and deranged these people are now.5 points

I suspect any real trade “haul” will ultimately underwhelm compared to what is being speculated by podcasters and ex-general managers.4 points

I really don't see much evidence that the team performance of the last two years is all because of Harris. I expect to see more evidence at the MLB level of Harrises influence soon, but I have not seen it yet.4 points

I haven’t watched any interviews, but when I read where Harris said “no one is untouchable“ and that he’s willing to “listen” this means the organization is not desperate, that they’re not panicking, and they will not be easy prey and it’s going to take quite a bit to pry anything loose of substance from the club. It’s his way of dealing from strength instead of weakness regardless of optics. Of course I’m an inveterate optimist and I like reading the most positive intent into things.4 points

The ultimate takeaway from his words. He's a black hole who lacks any sort of humanity. Sure, same as it ever was, but he's becoming less subtle and more sloppy in his old age as well. It's ironic that his strongest support continues to come from self-professed Christians, because I cannot think of a public figure who symbolizes spiritual death quite like he does.3 points

This Is Spinal Tap The Princess Bride Stand By Me. Those are all perfect movies, in my opinion. They all had the perfect amount of humor and heart and every single joke lands. And Rob set aside his ego and let improvisers improvise. Those movies were all perfectly-cast. When Harry Met Sally, Misery, A Few Good Men..........man, that's a list.3 points

if the Pistons get swept in the finals by OKC, this season will have been a massive, massive success3 points

Avila had seven years. Let's see if Harris makes it to seven. It will be easier to compare then. So far, it's zero post seasons for Avila and two for Harris.3 points

I am pretty sure there are no Avila fans here. I think if we had a vote on who was the better GM, it would be at least 95% Harris. The only reason I won't say 100% is because I'm a statistician. I believe Harris would also win a vote over Dombrowski. What some people would like is a GM with Harris's brain and long-term commitment but with Dombrowki's boldness.3 points

I continue to be knocked out by the idea that so many Tiger fans will be disappointed to see Tarik Skubal suit up in a Tigers uniform on March 26.3 points

The rumor hasn't been picked up more probably because the Pinafore guy behind it is a nobody and Sports Illustrated is an AI slop farm that bears no resemblance to its former self.3 points

I think it does. The idiots on twitter who listen to too much radio make dismissive comments beyond his performance. “Scotty boy”. “Haircut”. Stuff like that. They thjnk he’s weak and timid. Most of them are overweight pretend jocks who think they are teasing the nerd in high school.3 points

I am looking forward to a screaming headline mentioning SCOTT HARRIS and 3-WAY together to see how adroitly it’s handled given the fact that proofreading is a lost art in journalism.3 points

"Trump Derangement Syndrome" has been a useful construct for Trump over the years, but the reality is that there are plenty of legitimate reasons to dislike Donald Trump (as a leader and as a human being) and the construct is often used in a way to delegitimize any of that criticism or dislike for him in a way that doesn't have to address the substance of it. Same with "Orange Man Bad".... a rhetorically clever but cynical and ultimately meaningless phrase that effectively absolves the user from having to deal with any substance behind whatever criticism is being lodged. The reality is that he's just a bad person and always has been... and we're now seeing an even more unfiltered version of him due to the inevitable loss of control that was always going to happen as he got older. And his critics have always had a better read on things than some would like to admit.2 points

I think earlier in the thread I said no I would not sign anyone to these contracts. I would make an exception in Skubal's case. His change up is an insane pitch. His work ethic and competitiveness are excellent. I think he's up there with Verlander and Scherzer. I always hated they let them go and I don't want to lose Skubal.2 points

We are lost. There will be not one person who are following him now ever stepping back. You can see that, can’t you?2 points

I give Harris credit for bringing the organization to a much better place. I don't know if they are the elite cutting edge organization some are making them out to be, but they have at least caught up to some of the more analytical organiztions. I don't really give Avila much credit. I just don't think that Harris has done anything extraordinary at the MLB level yet. I will give Harris full credit when he wins with the team totally crafted by him.2 points

That was one of the best non-Pistons games I have seen in a few years. Wemby being back is obviously huge. In 21 minutes he had 22 pts and 9 boards and his +/- was +21. Just a great game to watch and enjoy2 points

It’s easy to hindsight at this point. And I can’t say I’ve expressed your thoughts here before before, but that’s the Baker Mayfield I’ve always seen when the Lions have played them these past few years. Overthrowing guys, making mistakes at the worst times, which is why I never understood the MVP talk earlier.2 points

Correlation does not prove causation and saying phrases like "I have no words" is not not a persuasive argument either. I see Hinch and Fetter having an impact at the major league level. I don't see Harris having as much of an impact at that level, at least not yet. The Tigers would not be doing what they have done the last two years without the players, manager and pitching coach which Avila provided. Avila was terrible, but when you collect prospects for long enough (way too long in his case) you can build up a good base of talent.2 points
-
It's always been my opinion that Avila knew what needed to be done - he knew where DD had let things atrophy. All the things he talked about were basically all the same things Harris talks about, but he wasn't that up to speed himself when he started, and he brought insufficient creativity and urgency to the task. But the one thing we never give Al any benefit of the doubt about is that you don't just start firing people willy-nilly in the Ilitch organization. Some of the inertia could have been coming from ownership unwilling to dump loyal employees abruptly. Now without doubt, he was a disaster at trades. No need to cut him any slack there.2 points

Pujols was moved, Cabrera was moved, Verlander was moved, Bryce Harper was moved, Soto was moved, Sale was moved, Ohtani was moved. It's hardly a Detroit thing. You can blame the teams but it's mostly a system that is cooked into the CBA.2 points

Purely off of the awood video it looks like Rasmussen and Soderblom actually had some good moments, winning puck battles and cycling in the offensive zone. I like that when Sherwood hit Raymond in the head at least a couple Wings approached him and then JVR actually skated hard and threw a big check. The Wings have to show some sort of fight.2 points
