  1. There was a report on I believe NFL.com about Martin that closed with "He should be drafted by the 4th round", so atleast going by that report it wasn't a massive reach. Either way though it seems that at the least he possesses a skill(probably space eating or run stopping) that they liked even if his overall grade wasn't that good. Still seems like they could've gotten him later but who knows.
  2. "I had 4 teams text me and say they were going to take him if we didn't jump ahead of them."
  3. Since the 49ers did it and everybody praises how smart they are I'm sure all the NFL people won't care about the whole "positional value" thing with them taking a kicker that early.
  4. I hate to say it but I'm getting Deja Vu with the Martin pick to the how I felt when the Lions drafted Tavai. Had the same "Who and the **** is this guy?" thought run through my head. Hopefully this works out better.
  5. Yeah have no idea who the dude is but doing a quick read of his scouting report nothing stands out to me and seems like there were better options out there. And as I type this Jake Moody gets drafted by SF! Damn that's a kick in the nuts as I was hoping to get him in day 3.
  6. Yeah I was gonna say that earlier, it could just be that they just liked the players they drafted more than any of the DTs that were available.
  7. He may still be there when we pick in the 4th but I would love to go grab Michael Wilson since Tillman is gone.
  8. I think the thing I hate most is going to be listening to radio folks call for Hooker to start the moment Goff plays bad or the Lions lose a game.
  9. I don't hate the pick given our situation and the amount of picks we have had but I would've rather drafted Tillman to really solidfy the offensive weapons.
  10. Plus to add to this he also can help fill the void of the all important mobile QB role for the defense to face in practice. 🙂
  11. I think there is definitely a better than decent chance it ends up being a wasted pick with him just holding a clipboard and playing in mop up duty. But there also is the off chance that Goff does get injured(no matter how injury proof you have been it's still a violent sport where an injury can happen at anytime) and Hooker steps up and not only prevents the season from coming off the rails but actually leads us to a deep playoff run while looking the part. I think with the amount of picks they had and the few glaring holes they have on the team that type of risk was worth it for them. Again especially considering they were prepared to reportedly give Bridgewater a nice contract to fill that role anyway.
  12. I don't necessarily think the Hooker pick means the end of Goff, it could just be a matter of them feeling that they were in position to take a flyer on him just in case something happens to Goff whether it be injury or ineffectiveness. If Goff continues to excel then worst case scenario is you used a 3rd RD pick on a backup QB, a position that you were prepared to make a "strong offer" to fill anyway.
  13. Would've much rather took the guy he was throwing to in Tillman.
  14. I swear it's like clockwork with the commercials and Lions pick.
  15. It would be pretty cool to see St. Brown announce a WR pick. Which makes me think not that it would be the case with St. Brown but how awkward would it be for a current player to have to announce a guy who may end up being your replacement? Like if Swift announced the Gibbs pick or something.
  16. I was thinking them or possibly even the Rams at 69.
  17. Ok Will Levis is no longer the biggest looking douche of the draft. This dude announcing the Bears pick just topped him.
  18. Assuming we actually stay put we got the Bears, Eagles x 2 and Broncos ahead of us. I don't foresee the Eagles taking an X guy with having Brown but there in position where they can afford to take luxury picks so I guess you really don't know.
  19. So much for consolidating picks like we thought they might do.
  20. Cowboys double up on Michigan players by taking Scoonmaker after taking Mazi Smith yesterday.
  21. No way would I have thought that dude making the announcement for the Giants was a Pro Football Player, figures he was a kicker.
  22. That's even better, just assumed it was near the end since it was coming from the Chiefs.
  23. Sounds like we are picking up 122 from the Chiefs which is at the end of the 4th.
  24. Never mind looks like we traded back. At this rate ARSB is never gonna get to make the announcement.
