  1. What's funny is Max didn't want to be second fiddle but then he went to Washington with Strasburg who was the most hyped pitching prospect in eons and after getting hurt early in his career he bounced back and was coming off 2 really good seasons when Max got there. If Strasburg kept up that projection it's very likely Max wouldve been second fiddle there too since Stras was the home grown guy and was so hyped up.
  2. Yeah same here. Sutton would be a great fit if the price is right.
  3. Leyland: " you guys are gonna be co-pilots" Verlander: "so Pilot and Co-Pilot?" Leyland: "No Co Pilot and Co- Pilot" Verlander: "That maybe confusing to the guys cause they look at me as their Pilot." Leyland: "Max will run the day to day things while Justin you focus on big picture stuff."(starting opening days and Game 1 of playoff series) Yeah this doesn't make sense to people that don't get the reference from The Office but anytime I see something with Co infront of it I think of that scene with Michael, Jim and Wallace.
  4. If the White Sux hold on the Tigers will only be 3 games back in the loss column of first place!
  5. The "returned to Toledo" wording is what makes me laugh, like not optioned back or reassigned but "returned" like he was a shopping item or lost pet.
  6. With our offensive explosion today we now finally past the 100 run mark on the season, last team to do it of course but we're trending upward. We're only 1 run behind the Royals who have played 1 more game than us, like a week ago we were like 25 runs behind the 2nd to last team.
  7. To update my previous post, they are actually 0-5 in series against AL East teams not 0-4, I forgot about the Blue Jays series.
  8. Another series win, that makes 4 out of the last 6 with the 2 losing ones being both against Baltimore. For the season we are 0-4 in series against AL East teams but 5-0 against every other team.
  9. We've scored 7 runs four different times this year but this is the first time we got to 8. Well done Gents!
  10. Shep: "The Tigers have scored as many runs in 5 innings tonight as they did in 8 innings in the first game." lol Usually when you start out a tidbit like that it leads to something like "as they have scored in the previous 3 games combined" or something like that, not something like scoring 6 runs in 5 innings vs. 6 runs in 8.
  11. Riley rips a single to right to make it 6-1. That's his 2nd hard hit ball to the pull side this game which is a good sign. Feels like most of the year anything hit to the right side has been weak contact.
  12. And the Ding Man just misses another HR, has to settle for a 3 run double!
  13. Speaking of Vierling I liked how Shep tells us earlier that the players call Vierling "Sherman" but then never follows up on it to tell us why so now it has me wondering.
  14. Vierling crushes one to the Mets bullpen to make it 5-1 Tigers!
  15. The Pivotal Prospect Dillon Dingler stays red hot with yet another homer, that makes 5 straight games now.
  16. I was gonna half jokingly mention a few days ago that Haase was just waiting till May to hit before he starts hitting cause that is what happened either last year or the year before for him.
  17. I know we don't want an Avila ever employed by this team again but I thought Alex did a good job the limited time I listened to him last year. I wouldn't mind hearing him do more broadcasts.
  18. TORK rips a double up the LCF gap to make it 2-0 good guys in the 1st!
  19. Is this the first time we faced Max since he struck us out 20 times?
  20. The RB argument from the way I understand it is not necessarily just the short shelf life but teams feel that they are more easily replaceable than other positions. Like if your starting RB goes down to teams it isn't as damaging as most other positions, they feel they can just plug in the next guy and block and create holes for him to run behind. As an avid fantasy football player who has had to pickup a backup because my early round starter got injured I can attest that there may be some truth to that cause often times you don't lose out much from those backups but like everything else there are exceptions. Certain RBs just make the entire offense so much better when they are in there, I think of Saquon Barkley among today's backs. Daboll got all this credit for being an offensive genius this year but I think having a healthy Saquon was just as critical to their offensive success as anything.
  21. I don't think this is the case but without using hindsight I think really the only way you can be critical of that trade is if the Tigers were aware of Meadows issues or atleast had a suspicion but still went through with the trade thinking they could either correct them or that they weren't that big of deal.
  22. Bobby Seay, now there's a name from the past. BTW I used to get a kick out of Mario saying "Seay Lyon warming up in the bullpen." anytime Bobby Seay and Brandon Lyon were warming up together. Mario really thought he was being creative and witty with that one, bless his heart!
  23. Perhaps the Lions think so little of Swift they rather the Eagles add him and think they are now set at RB for the year vs. trading him to another team and the Eagles going out and picking up a better back instead.
  24. The Lions also had a higher DVOA and ELO rating. Really there was nothing to indicate that the Seahawks were any better than the Lions other than a 3pt victory at a time in the season where the Lions defense was playing at its worst and the offense was missing most of their playmakers.
  25. He isn't 6'11 or was once drafted in the top 5 so Troy won't be interested.
