Jalen Carter is an absolute beast, the Lions probably will be going QB with their first pick but if for some reason they don't he would look damn nice lined up with Hutch.

Speaking of former player or manager's kids I often wondered what happened to Victor Jr. He has to be close to the age where he would be on team's radar you think unless he just didn't turn into the prodigy that he looked like as a little kid. edit: decided to google him again and came across this profile. I remember googling him a couple years ago and I couldn't find anything. https://www.perfectgame.org/players/playerprofile.aspx?ID=525152 Looks like he has his Dad's wheels for sure.

Sparty up 9-7 at Illinois, would be nice if Illinois turned it on so we could potentially have another ranked team on our resume if we beat them in two weeks, not to mention laughing at another Sparty loss.

Lakers then proceed to take Bronny James with the first pick at Lebron's request. -
I was kinda hoping Tennessee would win just for the fact that if we do make the playoffs I'd like less of a chance of running into UGA again but since it appears they have the game well in hand might as well root for a demolition so Tennessee may drop a few.

Georgia putting the beat down on Tennessee, 21-3 at the start of the 2nd quarter.

I saw a couple posts on twitter that said that they heard the flu was running rampant in the OSU lockerroom the last couple days, don't know how legit that is but if it is between that and this wind the game could be alot closer than the line of 37.5.

I also wonder how important it is for an MLB player to play for a winner? I mean sure all things being equal you'd rather be on a winner but atleast it seems like unlike other sports most notably the NBA you don't hear about guys demanding trades when they are on bad teams. If there is any truth to that my theory is that in baseball the player's legacy isn't tied so much to the team success like it is for basketball and to some extent football.

Didn't realize Bama has such a brutal schedule left with 15 LSU, 11 Ole Miss and although Auburn isn't good this year it's still a rivalry game so it could be tough not to mention the hypothetical SEC Championship game so definitely wouldn't be surprised to see them lose another 1. FWIW just ran ESPN Playoff predictor and according to that if UGA loses today and wins out they would still have a 52% chance of making the playoffs.
-
Definitely not out but I think they could be in some trouble and would need some help. I figure they would need both TCU and Clemson to lose and UT to beat Bama in the SEC Championship game. Otherwise you gotta think it will be OSU or UM, Bama, with the final two spots either going to TCU and Clemson if they run the table or if only 1 does then that team with Tennessee being the "at large" team. There's also the chance that if UM wins a close one against OSU that the committee may have a 1 loss OSU team over the hypothetical 1 loss UGA team as well.

What outcome should we be pulling for in today's Vols/UGA game?

I just went to tankathon to see the very early standings and I totally forgot that the Pelicans can still swap picks with the Lakers,I figured that trade was all done by now. I of course hope we get the 1st pick but if we don't I wouldn't be opposed to the Lakers getting it and having to give it to NO just to lol at them.

Its a fine line between giving a GM/Coach too much rope or cutting them too early. Yeah the Lions haven't made the progress in the win/loss department like I hoped but unlike with Quinntricia I can see some positive things that Holmes/Campbell have brought to the table despite that. I believe Holmes knows what he is doing and while Campbell has made some mistakes on the field that is only one part of being a HC and maybe the most insignificant part at that. Most on field decisions are based off of what the analytics tell you, sometime you look like a genius if those decisions work out other times you don't, but what you do away from Sunday and how players respect and want to play for you is 100% on the coach and it seems in that regard Campbell has it. I also respect the fact that he is willing to make changes and hold other coaches responsible by evidence of the Pleasant firing this year and Lynn firing last year. This isn't to say that both should be given a 5+ year leash but I think calling for their firing just 2 years in could be a bit premature no matter where we finish this season. Yes turnarounds can happen fast in the NFL but sometimes they do take a few years and I rather give the guys a chance to see their vision through before firing them and starting over half way through.

I think its a bit early to write off Jung since he was considered a top 10 bat heading into the draft but it was a bit worrisome that many scouts speculated that his weird batting stance may hinder his ability to hit MLB fastballs.

So if I'm reading this right Jabari Smith has been head and shoulders the worst rookie of the class thus far? Obviously extreme SSS but thus far Orlando is looking like geniuses for taking Paulo despite most pundits having him at 3 pre draft. -
Yeah I always liked Baker, too young to remember him as a player but as a manager I liked him and thought he may have gotten a raw deal in some places. I know at one point he had a rep for overusing young pitchers which led to injuries but was there ever any real evidence that pointed to him being at fault? We see young pitchers get hurt all the time even when teams do things "right" so who is to say that what he did was wrong and why they got hurt? Regardless though seems like a class guy and would definitely like to see him get a ring.

I'm not much of an Astros fan but Im pulling for them to close this one out. Nothing against the Phillies as a franchise but I just hate when averagish teams get hot at the right time and win the championship instead of the team that has been consistently great all season.

Was just thinking earlier while flipping between the WS and Thursday Night Football on Amazon "Could you imagine being a Philly sports fan right now, got your baseball team playing in the World Series and an undefeated football team on prime time?" Then it occurred to me that believe it or not Detroit was in a similar spot in 2011 with the Tigers playing in the ALCS while the 5-0 Lions were playing on MNF across the street at Ford Field. Crazy to think that now, might as well have been another lifetime ago considering the state of Detroit teams.

Tigers Minor League Report just came out with their top 25 and they agree with you about Keith being number 1. https://tigersmlreport.com/2022/11/03/detroit-tigers-top-25-prospects/

Just thinking and I figured that it Really doesn't matter if we lose 1 of the next 3 games or not as long as we beat OSU and win the Big Championship we're going to be in the playoff whether we're undefeated or have 1 loss.

Not saying it was the right move but to defend Chris I could see how he may have been talked into keeping Avila despite all his problems. Prior to this season Avila could've convinced him that the "rebuild" didn't officially start till the 17/18 offseason and that he was hurt by the Covid year so in that sense he could tell him it has only been 3 seasons with the most season(2021) having them play over. 500 ball for the last 5 months. Between that and overrating the type of impact that guys like Riley and Tork could have I could understand if I was Chris maybe giving him 2022 as the one final year. When it inevitably failed he rightfully fired him.

Don't know about NHL or the NBA but in the MLB another incentive to keep guys down in the minors is that you can keep them down there for a couple years before calling them up and still maintain the full 6 years of control you would have just as you would if they got called up day 1. Not sure if it's like that in the NBA or not but if it isn't that could be another deterent for teams in regards to sending them down, they want to maximize the time they have them under rookie deals and if they are going to spend half that time in the g league that isn't going to be the case. -

Hopefully Wemby will help fix our length and rebounding issues next year. -
The Giants seemed to get some production out of cast off veteran or older/ non prospects like out of the blue which is a big reason why they won 100 games a couple years ago. Maybe we'll get lucky and Harris and co. Can manage to do that with a few guys in our system.
