  1. Yeah no way Verlander is signing here unless we just make him some ridiculous Godfather type offer. I do feel that Detroit does have a special place in his heart and if we were better he may come here if we gave him a competitive offer but not in the shape we are in now. He didn't want to go through a rebuild 5 years ago so he's not going to want to now.
  2. I wonder how much those pre draft trade rumors were true and what we really were offered for the Cade pick? I think that may be the toughest pill to swallow if he only ends up being a good player and not an elite one like we hoped.
  3. I don't know the ins and out of the salary cap and/or rules with it so maybe that's why it didn't happen but if contenders could trade for him why didn't they when we got him? IDK like I said I don't know how that stuff works so maybe contending teams will be able to get him come February but it seems like a guy like that some team would've been able to trump our offer.
  4. Yep, he was my 1A with Murray 1B for the Pistons going into the draft outside the top 3 guys. I love his game.
  5. But Philly had 2 number 1 overall picks and 2 more top 3 picks thus far Weaver has had number 7, 1 and 5. Yeah he whiffed on the Killian pick and you definitely expect more out of the 7th pick than that but it's not uncommon to get an average or worse player with that pick. He didn't inherit any extra picks when he took over and didn't have a ton of assets so I think it's unfair to expect a playoff caliber team this quickly.
  6. I do think it's fair though to see improvement as the year goes on, maybe not in the standings but if we're still getting destroyed by non elite teams like the Knicks come March it is going to be disappointing.
  7. For years we begged for the Pistons to just bottom out instead of being in purgatory and this is exactly what happens when you bottom out, rarely do teams compete a year after getting the number 1 pick unless they either got that pick due to major lottery luck or due to having a fluke bad season from injuries like the Warriors did a couple years ago when they got the 2nd pick.
  8. I'm the biggest Cade fan there is but if he truly ends up just being a low 30s or worse 3PT shooter instead of the mid to upper 30s like what most expected that's going to be a real kick in the nuts. He's still going to be a really good player but he needs to be able to shoot at a plus level to be the superstar that we all hope he's going to be.
  9. Livers too but not sure how apt he is at getting his own shot but should atleast give them a shooter out there if Killian can find him.
  10. I don't know how they expect to score with a lineup that doesn't have Cade, Bogdan, Ivey or Bey.
  11. Of course if Saddiq put up games like this every game he'd be a stud but it's weird just how polarizing he can be, he'll have games like this where you think he could be a 20ppg guy with high shooting percentages but then he'll have a stretch of games where he just disappears offensively. Like if his bad games could just be merely bad instead of dreadful he could a solid to plus player in this league.
  12. I wonder if Ivey would be better served defensively to slack off a bit, as mentioned his lateral quickness doesn't seem there but he does have length and presumably quick closing speed so maybe give some space out on perimeter.
  13. It can be but it also just corresponds with the eye test particularly on offense. With him the possessions just look so much better, I feel that the vast majority of the time we're atleast getting a good look when he is out there, the shots may not fall but the look is good, without him it is just contested shots or turnovers.
  14. Just amazing how different the team is with Cade off the floor, only -5 in 18 minutes with him out there but -15 in just 6 minutes when he was on the bench.
  15. Duren looking his age this game, been lost on defense and made some silly fouls.
  16. Also got to keep in mind that the bullpen shortens come play off time with the days off and with starter(s) getting moved to the pen so your season numbers may look bad due to bad middle relief or depth but if you have 2 to 3 shutdown guys that can be enough in the playoffs so I'd be interested to see how the remaining teams fair if you just use their top 3 or 4 guys.
  17. Watching JV shutdown the Yankees the other night brought back memories to his first playoff start 16 years ago at Yankee Stadium. Seeing him and Zumaya dominate the a Yankees at Yankee stadium to give the Tigers their first playoff win in almost 20 years is one of my favorite Detroit sports moments. Just crazy to think he is still dominating them in the playoffs 16 years later, that kinda playoff longevity is almost unheard of. I can think of only Clemens in my lifetime that was a playoff ace over 16+ years.
  18. Yeah I was kinda being facetious but I wouldn't be surprised if their pick was influenced by BB. Like they thought that if BB sees something in him there must be something there which in turn made them highlight any positives they saw and downplay the weaknesses.
  19. Well this all but confirms why Quinntricia took him so early, BB must have let them know that he liked him so that was all they needed to think he warranted a 2nd round pick.
  20. Btw Dak has confirmed he will be back for this one, not surprised cause he was probably salivating at the chance to play our defense.
  21. Seems like a lot for an oft injured back but the Niners don't have a ton of holes so draft picks aren't as important to them as perhaps finding that player that can put them over the top and if CMC stays healthy he is one of the best playmakers in the league so may be worth the risk for them.
  22. It's only one game but considering we struggled to beat a short handed bad Magic team it's shaping up to be a fun season watching our young guys where we also lose alot which in the grand scheme of things is probably for the best.
  23. Duren definetly impressed me the most, physically and athletically he reminded me of a young Dwight Howard, just looked like a Greek God chiseled out of stone. Yeah as far as I can remember all his points came on putbacks with the exception of and one out of the post but still considering his age and experience level I still thought it was impressive.
  24. It's easy to see star potential in Ivey as long as he doesn't kill himself out there in the process.
  25. Cade drives, attracts a crowd and hits a wide open Beef Stew for a clutch corner 3 to put the Pistons up 4 with like 10 seconds left!
