  1. Yeah I always get a little sad as well even more so than other sports despite baseball not being my favorite one. Im sure part of that is knowing winter is coming which I hate but also due to the fact that unlike other sports the Tigers are on virtually every night so it becomes a routine to turn on the tv at game time every night. Also baseball offseason seems to take longer than every other sport, I blame that though on the fact that the NBA and NFL basically get covered year round by the national media as it seems some news story is always happening where as baseballl gets put on the backburner until spring training.
  2. I always like the defer strategy, I like having the potential to get points at the end of the half and then immediately get the ball back to start the 2nd.
  3. Yeah last year when Bey was brutal those first couple months it felt like he was trying too hard to prove he was more than just a spot up threat and was capable of creating shots on his own. Then he went back to how he played his rookie year and relied more on Cade to create the offense for him and he played a lot better.
  4. I think If the Lions were 3-1 or maybe even 2-2 right now I think there would be some national talk of Goff being in the early MVP conversations.
  5. Surprised to not see Griffey on Chas's list, my memory tells me that he was terrible for the last half of his year but perhaps he wasn't as bad as I remember.
  6. Pujols had his great year this year but I think he was even worse than Miggy the previous 6 so I wonder if his is actually worse?
  7. The Phillies clinch the playoffs for the first time since 2011 which now puts us and the Angels in a tie for longest current drought in all of MLB.
  8. True it is arbitrary to just pick out a single round and perhaps if we picked a different round we would look better than the others but I just thought it put in perspective our 2nd round results compared to our peers. We all knew about our problems there but many of us didn't know how everybody else faired there as well and if we truly that much worse than everybody or if it just isn't common to get a bunch of contributors in the 2nd.
  9. I didn't fact check this but assuming it's true and assuming by contributor he means the guy is atleast an averagish starter than this could be the difference between us being where we're at now and being a legit division contender. Subbbing 5 non factors for contributors would do wonders for this team.
  10. Funny thing is that the rumors around the league is that JOK fell to where he did due to medical concerns, no way of knowing if that is why the Lions passed on him but it would be the Lions luck for the them to pass on the superior talent due to injury concerns only for him to stay healthy and the guy you picked be the one to be injured.
  11. Yep it's not hindsight I definitely wanted JOK as did others, I even went as far as to suggest drafting him with our first pick if we ended up trading back like some thought pre draft.
  12. Im thrilled with the offense and I know in this league you can scheme your way to a good offense if you got a great playcaller/play designer and a solid qb but I also know that coaches and d coordinators are also pretty smart and the more they see of you and your plays the better chance they have to adjust and stop it so the pessimistic in me fears that eventually defenses will figure us out. The optimist in me on the other hand is that yeah we lacked personnel last game but in the future when we're completely healthy(hopefully that day will come) including Jaymo that our talent will overcome whatever defenses throw at us.
  13. Watching the Pats/Pack game and Hoyer got injured and is ruled out the rest of the game with a head injury. Considering the spotlight right now on those injuries we could be facing a 3rd stringer next week.....of course that 3rd stringer will look like Tom Brady so I guess it doesn't matter.
  14. Historically teams have shown you can win in this league with a dynamic offense even with a bad defense but the Lions defense isn't just bad it's historically awful. Not to mention not only are they terrible but they don't produce any TOs that can sometimes mask an otherwise bad defense, only 1 TO created in 4 games.
  15. You never expect to give up 40 points a game but this defense was kinda what I expected to see last year which is why so many people were high on Glenn despite it only being mediocre.
  16. I know we kid about onside kicking every time but really were almost to the point where mathmatically it might actually make sense if we can get slightly above average recovery percentage. If we can get to the 15-20% range on recoveries that would be 1 out of 5 or 6 odds, at our current rate we don't force punts at 1 out of every 5 or 6 possessions and that doesn't even include the fact that you could still force a punt even if you don't recover an onside.
  17. I was wrong, I thought for sure we would stop them on 3rd down and everybody would be excited only for the Seahawks to convert on 4th down for the dagger.
  18. I have never once in my life seen a play run then after said play was run the refs come back to say it doesn't count cause the freaking game clock wasn't right. I mean I've seen it happen where the refs blow the whistle right after the snap but never after the play was run full.
  19. Does Campbell go for an onside here? Considering our kicker it may look like an onside but in reality he just missed the ball by that much.
  20. lol I thought about that post when I saw that run but I have to admit I didn't know he had that explosion in him either.
  21. Cephus heads to the locker room now Raymond gets hurt catching the ball. Oh well the receiving corps could be worse, we could have Golladay right now.
  22. Goff just couldn't have even seen him, no way he makes that throw if he did. Either way disastrous play.
  23. There's 32 NFL starting kicking spots for the 8 billion people on this planet and this is the best we can find? There's GOT to be somebody better out there than this.
  24. Wow just got in and turned on the game, what the hell happened with the defense? Well other than they suck of course. I'm guessing they haven't gotten any bit of pressure on Smith all game.
