I still think Goff got hurt in that GB game in week 2 and kept it to himself until it got so bad he was forced to sit out. Reason being the first game and a half he looked great physically, made a couple mental errors on week 1 but also made a few big time throws in that game and a half. Then I remember him going to the ground at Lambaeu sometime in the middle of the game and he just became a different qb after that. A couple games later and it was like he refused to throw it more than 10 yards cause he physically couldn't. Then after finally taking time off for the injury he returned at the end and looked like a good qb including winning NFC player of the week twice I believe.

I know some will point to Lamar in Baltimore and how well that worked out, yeah it has and yeah Baltimore passed on him once before taking him with a later 1st round pick but I think the situation was different with them in the sense that they didn't have many holes on the team. They could afford to swing for the fences, the Lions don't really have that luxury yet.

My feeling is if the Lions didn't see enough in the guy to take him at 2 then they must not have a ton of faith in them cause if you feel a guy is a franchise qb you take him at 2 and don't risk him being gone by your next pick.

4/8 1:10 White Sox @ Tigers **OPENING DAY 2022**
RandyMarsh replied to Tigeraholic1's topic in Game Threads
May be too risky to do this with one of our young pitchers but I wonder if the Tigers are thinking about doing something like this with Tork or Greene? -
Totally agree and this is what I've been saying. If you don't think a qb is worth taking at 2 then he probably isn't worth taking at 32. Fwiw I think the Lions feel this way as well.

The Twins just traded All Star closer Taylor Rogers to the Padres for Chris Paddack. I think there were others involved too but those were the main pieces. -
4/8 1:10 White Sox @ Tigers **OPENING DAY 2022**

I think I've been to 6 opening days, been years since my last and I think I only got good weather once. I believe it was 2011 or 12, it was against the Red Sox. It was still pretty chilly like 50ish but the sun was out so it felt good. -
I saw that the Prodigal Son Alex Avila is working for MLB Network as an analyst now, I wonder if he would ever consider coming home and working for the Tigers? I know it's not going to happen this year but perhaps next year? Call me an ageist but I would like to get an analyst in the booth that hasn't been retired since the Clinton administration. Also nice to get a guy who has ties to the most recent good Tigers teams.

Down to two games, both against teams that have something to play for in Milwaukee and Philly. Currently those two are in the 3 and 4 spot a 1/2 game behind Boston for number 2. With the way Toronto has been playing of late I would think there is a big incentive to get out of the 4 spot and avoid having to play them. Honestly with how bad Chicago has looked and their record against good teams if I were one of those teams I may almost prefer the 3 seed over the 2. If you catch Brooklyn or a Cavs team with Mobley and Allen back in round 1 that could be tough.

They just showed Denard Robinson in the crowd and it looked like he ate the Denard Robinson that was at UM. I almost didn't recognize him. -
The folks at NBC are going to wonder why Peacock Subs went through the roof over the summer, hopefully somebody will smarten them up to the fact that it was all due to the Tigers. They'll be the biggest thing for NBC since Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer.

Yeah I hear ya there, my good friend bought courtside tix to see Curry earlier this year cause that is his son's favorite player only for Steph to sit out. I guess Steph came and talked to them and a bunch of other folks that had Warriors gear on to sorta make up for it which I thought was cool. -

Yep, if Del is in the area I'm sure he's got front row seats to see his boy! -

He did play 1 preseason game but that's it. -
That's probably where they're going but I'm starting to really like Walker the more I hear and learn about him.

Aside from your list Pacheco and Keith are two that I'm gonna be monitoring closely.

As much as I loved the offseason my one complaint is that they didn't address the bp more. They got Chafin but I would've liked to get atleast one more reliable guy for the back end.

Just saw last night that the Padres were closing in on a trade for Ramirez and now I hear he has re-signed with Cleveland. I thought the Padres were a strange fit considering they have Tatis and Machado but I guess when you're in the same division as the Dodgers you need to try to acquire all the top talent you can get and worry about where to play them afterwards.
-
I totally forgot he existed, lets see if he can make it to May without being injured again.
-
"We love playing for him and going all out for him, he's the iconic 'players coach'"
-
I will say one of the bummers of the trade is not being able to type E-SOCK! whenever Paredes did something good in the Gameday threads again. It wasn't as fun as typing "Jacking Dongs" when JD would homer but it was still fun.

Boy you weren't kidding about that lineup, just went and looked at it and not counting Simpson who I only know cause of Michigan the only guys I think I heard of was Roby and Hoard and the latter is only from watching him play the Pistons last week.

Poor Al trying his damnedest to change the narrative on Chris, signing off on a guy making 4 million this year and under control for 3 more isn't quite the same as his Dad signing off on a guy making 15 and due for a 160 million extension in Cabrera but I suppose you got to credit Avila for still trying to make his boss look better.

The Meadows trade may open the door for Miggy to get cut next year like the Angels did with Pujols just cause he is potentially one more option to put at DH. Aside from how Miggy performs its also going to depend on how other options perform. Up until the Meadows trade you really couldn't say we necessarily had any other in house options that were better than Miggy so him playing really wasnt hurting us but with guys like Meadows and Greene added to the mix along with the emergence of Baddoo and Haase suddenly we may have a better bat we could put at DH if Miggy doesn't perform. He'll be safe this year for sure but if say anther guy breaks out in the system or we acquire somebody else if Miggy isn't hitting a year from now I think the team will cut bait so they can play the better option.

Kudos to the Tigers for taking the high road and not telling the real reason, that reason is all the Orioles pitchers suddenly weren't feeling well and not available to pitch after hearing news of the Meadows trade and thinking of facing that potential lineup. None of them wanted to be the ones to get shelled on the last day of camp
