  1. Atleast here in Detroit it's on Fox with the Fanduel Sports feed.
  2. I wonder if Victor Reyes ever found that untapped power that we were promised for seemingly a handful of offseasons by Tigers writers?
  3. Yep on top of that it would also have to be a good lefty that has noticeable platoon splits as well or else you likely will be better off putting in a better righty.
  4. To be fair to the broadcasters "Hittin" Harold might as well have been Tony Gwynn compared to the rest of the scrubs that were in that lineup.
  5. FWIW Keith did sign that extension before last year for 6/28 guaranteed plus club options, don't know how it effects his trade value at all but it's worth noting that if you are trading him to a notoriously cheap team they will take him knowing that they owe him a guaranteed 20 something million whether he flames out or not.
  6. We don't exactly have a team of Rickey Henderson's but I would like us to try to steal a little more often if its somebody with decent speed like a Javy, Mckinstry, Meadows, Perez or Greene. The staying put and taking the extra base off hits works when you are you know actually getting hits but with the offense being in a funk now maybe we try to change that thought process and push things a little bit.
  7. Speaking of Wentz I saw that the Twins claimed him earlier today, surely he isn't going to comeback and due well against us right??
  8. I had to go look it up cause it "seemed" to me like so many of the Tigers HRs given up were on the 1st pitch of the at bat and it turns out that is the 17th time out of 65 HRs this year where that happened. Have no idea how that percentage relates to league average but not as high of number as it felt like to me. Edit: So went and looked and 450 of the roughly 2100 HRs this year have been on the first pitch so percentage wise the Tigers are a little higher but nothing crazy.
  9. Not that there is ever a good time to get TJ surgery but I always feel like this time of year is the worst cause you essentially missed all of 25, almost assuredly all of 26 and then 27 when you come back it could take you half a season or more to get your command and other kinks worked out. You'd have that same timeline if this happened in August or September except in that case you would've atleast gotten production from majority of this year. Or if it happened this past offseason you very well could be able to return in late 26 and work out those aforementioned kinks and be completely ready to go in 27.
  10. According to ESPNs WAR McKinstry leads all Tiger position players in WAR with a relatively modest 1.6. I say modest cause that doesn't even crack the top 30 in the AL so they haven't gotten elite production(atleast by WAR) from any non pitcher. But what they have gotten is plus production from a bunch of players, yeah the Tigers don't have any bats in the top 30 but they have 7 between 30 and 50 with an 8th(Carpenter) being just .1 behind number 50.
  11. Speaking of catches, till the day I die this catch will probably be the greatest catch I ever see live, before the advent of youtube I scoured the internet for years trying to find a clip of it to see if it was as good as I remembered it being watching live and it certainly was.
  12. After scoring 30 runs in 3 games against Boston a few weeks ago we have now gone 23 games where the offense has been relatively quiet. Only twice have we scored 6 runs during this run and have scored 3 runs or less in over half the games. Despite that they are still 14-9 during this stretch which is just remarkable given the aforementioned run issues.
  13. Captain Jack has lowered his ERA in each of his last 5 starts, was at a 4.67, now down to a 3.41.
  14. You may go another 2 weeks to a month before you get a pitch that hittable again if you're a big leaguer.
  15. We're at the point now where .500 the rest of the way gets us 90 wins. Given the competitiveness of the top 4 teams that very well may be enough for the division.
  16. I'm sure there has to be many more examples but off the top of my head the only big money FA pitching contract that I think you could say really worked out well for the team was Scherzer with Washington. I guess JV's extension we signed also probably worked out in the end but unfortunately for us Houston was the one that benefited most from it.
  17. Skubal's on pace to have a 1.80 FIP with 210IP, if that holds up the only people to do that since WWII would be Gibson in 88, Gooden in 84 and Pedro in 99.
  18. Completely random but I saw J. Jones in the box score which made me think of Jacoby Jones then in turn Jacques Jones which makes me question have there been any other J. Jones in Tigers history?
  19. That double to Tucker was the XBH Skubal has given up all season to a lefty.
  20. I can't believe Tigers legend Quintin Berry is still in professional baseball, great to see him help his former team!
  21. This happened last inning so I'm a little late with the post but the cliched "compare Detroit player/team to the actual city of Detroit" happened on a "national" sports broadcast. I don't think it's possible for that not to happen no matter the sport.
  22. On top of being small market teams I think both teams are just apathetic to non fans of those teams. Like sometimes fans like that will watch just to root against a certain team or player but I don't think either team has people that care that much about them to watch for that reason.
  23. I wonder if they did it just to appease Skubal? I mean it's a guy on 1st with 2 outs against Skubal in the 3rd inning. Not exactly a high leverage situation, the chances of them scoring were low regardless of the call. I'd rather save it for something more meaningful.
  24. Went 3-5 today with 2 doubles and a steal of home.
