Again the only smoke is todd McShay then a bunch of people reporting his report. He is the only one! Look it up, not other one person has reported it on their one And anyone who mentions it just like mcshay hasn't offered on piece of proof. It's just a "well he has character concerns" You have fallen victim to it and it's a problem with sports journalism today. A lie was put out there for whatever reason, it wasn't verified, reported with no consequences then gets repeated a bunch of times by bad journalists and blogs. Then people like you are like well there is smoke and make it fact, when it isnt

WHat character issues? That was something Todd McShay made up with no proof, nobody has confirme and seems to be completely false.

It doesn't have to come after June 1. The reason why people note that is that the rams get massive more cap savings by doing it. The trading team would have little incentive to do the rams a favor. It would allows delay their draft compensation until 2024. Which would be bad for them too. A bit of a catch 22 They will probably half to deal him now and take just 5 mill this year, they get a young body to add to the win now team and more cap relief In the future. The team acquiring him will also have him in the fold so they can figure out their offseason and don't lose picks down the road, just this year.

$5 when you were a kid is $20 today. A $20 ticket is still less than the cost to fill up a tank of gas today. A $100 is now two tanks. It's a reasonable cost and 50 to 100 for an hour of entertainment be it a sporting event or concert or helicopter ride is the going rate

Don't move to another market.

Motown: it's stupid to draft a qb goff is great throwing to wr look at all these stats Also Motown: we should give up cash and picks to add to our wide receiver core. They need an upgrade

Svannah is baseball's version of the globetrotters so they play more games on the road that home. Chantam County, GA, home of Savannah, went for Biden

I just don't get the argument cause its plays out like this. People: We don't need a QB, Jared Goff is great and on a top five offense and a leader who has been to the Super Bowl. It's stupid to draft a backup with one of our two picks because we need to address other areas. Same People: We need to add a WR to said top offense that was pretty good at the cost of picks AND cash. It's cool though we other picks.

Let's look at your first post "It's looking like Detroit will not be big players in free agency, or resigning Chark. Even if they cut most of the guys on the bubble like Okwara and Harris that will only leave them with enough to resign a couple of their own free agents, plus maybe a couple of mid tier guys." You literally wrote they will only have the cap space to sign their own guys and couple of mid tier free agents. You in no way in that post wrote that they could sign a big name. You literally said they can't. That is what people disputed. Then in your next post you came and said, well...they could but it would eat up everything. In no way does it say that in your first post in quotes above. You were wrong in your break down in the cap in that you don't understand how contract work. Yes flowers went up in year 3. Not sure what the heck that has to do with anything. It didn't stop the Lions from signing him no? Just like if Bradberry is 5 million this year and 25 million in 2026 it won't mean they don't have the cap space to sign him in 2023. And yes teams caps will be different. Again, what does that have to do with anything and it in no way deters from the fact the Lions do have the cap space to sign a big name, which you said is impossible because they only have the cap space to resign their own gusy and a couple of middle tier free agents.
-
OK, I guess just ignore everything and keep making the same point. Helpful. Yes they have other resources. But, they are giving up a first round pick so I think even you can agree by doing that you have less resources. 2 is more than 1 no? And you ignored the cap space this year. If they give Higgins $12 million, that is again less to help this year, no? 35 million less than 54 million, no? And whoooo the Lions have a bunch of cap space in 2024. Who cares? Im sure some of that will be eaten up by new deals, extensions and who they sign this year. Let's worry about hwo we use our resources this year before we give up picks AND space that might or might not be there in 2024. And who the Flip gives a crap about the Eagles and what they did. They were in a much different spot with a top 10 defense, ours is 32nd. 32nd is much worse than 10, no? That changes things to make that comparison is just stupid. Again, Higgins makes sens in video games. This ain't one. The Lions have far more pressing needs. If you want a WR draft one, or sign one. That way you aren't giving up cash AND picks like you would with Higgins and leave yourself with fewer resources to add quality defensive players....or a RB...or a Guard or whatever the heck else you need.
-
Just cause a question of resources. You are not only giving up a pick, but a section of cap space as well. So it becomes does adding a big expensive wr benefit us more than adding a cheap wr (at 18 if you wanted) or adding to the league worse defense? On paper it makes sense, lions would look great with Higgins. But with a capped league and the other needs, it might not be the best move.
-
Do you think that the cap hit in the first year of a contract is the same as the aav? Also the scenario you proposed goes counterintuitive with your first. You did prove they would have the cap space to sign a big name. The question is whether that it is smart. But you said they couldn't have the cap space to do it. Your idea is just wrong in that the Lions have more cap space than most and with how nfl contracts are structured. They will be able to afford just about anyone they want to. (For your future refence when the Lions signed flowers to 5/90 his cap hit year one was 6 million)

This isn't based in fact at all

I guess i don't see a guy like Badoo (Who was worse last year than Cabrera) as "Worthy" Not to mention injury, days offs and what not. I don't think our "glut" of medicore outfielder need ABS over Cabrera. Now if Greene makes strides and Meadows is healthy then it could. But we aren't gonna know that until what 45 games in? Then Miggy will lose ABs, which I believe is what I wrote. That he would lose ABs in the middle of the season.
-
I think it will be better than that, given he's not really blocking anyone or there is no need to shuffle ABs to a DH spot (i.e. crowded outfield). I expect MIggy to play a lot early because of above. Then in the middle he won't play much as guys from AAA are calle up and given a shot. Then when we are far out of it and the season is over he will close out his career playing in a bunch of games in September.

Yeah but as teams have shown you can pick one off the scrap heap and be pretty good there. Again allocation of resources. If you draft Robinson at lets say 18, he might be great. Good. I like great players and they make a lot of things easier. The question becomes if you do that is that the best use of those resources. Your passing on lets say a corner or LB at 18. Is the math of lower-rated CB and Robinson better to or equal to Gonzalez and 7th round RB. That is the big question. Right now, if you ask me I'd like the higher rated defensive player given how god awful we were back there. If we were even like 20th it understand the talk more, but we were dead last.
-
Oh i think offense is important, I just think you are going nowhere with the league worse defene. Even KC was 11th in YPG an second in sacks. So they weren't world beaters, but they were pretty good. And I disagree with your middle part, sure a RB can take one to the house and that's more likley than a last second sack. But on the same hand if you have that solid DT, does that RB make that big run? It all goes hand in hand. (and 21 was just a number i pulled out of my tail at the launromat. 23, 28, 31 whatever you want to use is fine. My point was you don't have to score 50 if you don't allow 49) My biggest thing is allocation of resources. The NFL is a cap league so you are limited on your resources and have to choose where to spend and where to save. That includes FA, drafts and resigning. Right now, with a top 10 offense I don't think its best to allocate more resources to it, which means you are neglecting other areas. Im not adverse to adding Robinson, but am against an OL or WR in teh draft because of resource allocation. Low pick sure, low FA signing sure. High? No thanks. I'd rather allocate those resources to get our defense better that way when its coupled with a solid to great offense you can really win.
-
I get all of it. It's just funny this is always how it goes. Not saying it's true for you, but it's how you end up with Mike Williams "ooh we have two wr, but imagine if we have 3! The offense will be crazy explosive!" I'm not adverse to an offensive player at all. I just don't want to get all starry eyed because a guy could run for 1400 yards over a dt who might get 5 sack. Both are needed and the defense is needed as we were a league worse. We don't have to win games 50-49 if we hold thr other team to 21. Part of this issue this year, I believe is that it's not a great top of the draft for the Lions needs. The dts are meh, we just drafted a defensive end at 2 last year, we already have two tackles, there is no safety, the corners seem good not great. That is leading some to look to fix things that aren't really huge needs and they turn to offense. Like hey yeah that would be good. All of this talk would be more muted if there was a high level cb, a solid mlb or a Gerald Mccoy type dt. But there isn't. It's a solid not spectacular draft and when that happens people try to convince themselves that the new toy on offense is that spectacular.

Tackle eligible?

Doesn't the rule you linked literally say hire as "head coach or primary decision maker (GM)?"
-
So don't do it cause of weird traditions. That's silly. There is nothing wrong with regulations to improve your sport. Whether that is moving the 3 point line back, limiting hand checking, eliminating targeting or reducing the shifts. Players grow, the game evolves, it's OK to make changes so it doens't become boring. Right now, baseball is boring.
-
But every sport does it. Why can't baseball?

If you put $10 on the lions you win 250
